  • Season 2 Episode 16: Syndrome

  • Boot the dog in previous episodes wouldn't have a thing to do with Johnny. In this episode, Boot comes running up to him for attention.

  • Season 2 Episode 14: School Days

  • When Johnny takes the professor to the ambulance after extricating him from his fallen bookshelves, Roy stays and talks to Billy (the trainee). We hear the ambulance siren as it leaves the scene. But after the commercial break, when the ambulance arrives at Rampart, BOTH Johnny and Billy get out of it with the patient. (The ambulance must have stopped and let Billy on at some point.)

When Roy goes back to give Billy a pep talk, watch the bottom of the screen, you will see Roy's helmet and nobody bothers to retrieve it.

When the ambulance flipped over, the patient inside is getting soaked. So how can he be dry while he is talking to Billy? Also, the attendants that are taking away the injured attendant never strap him onto the stretcher. The cot only has one strap, can this be such a difficult thing to do?

  • Season 2 Episode 13: Drivers

  • During the "boy in tree" rescue, at one point the decision was to try to cut the tree down the center and pull it apart using the engine and squad.

While Roy is chiseling the boy out of the tree, we can see ropes attached to the vehicles, and the vehicles positioned on opposite ends of the tree with no slack in the ropes. When the rescue is complete and the ambulance is taking the boy to the hospital, however, we see both the engine and squad parked on the side of the road in the same position as when they arrived at the scene.

  • This episode was a good one for stressing that everyone needs to know CPR. The Doctor who died of later complications because no one knew it at the restaurant, and the man who was saved in the hotel by neighbors who did know CPR drive the point home.

  • One of the best rescue parts of this episode was Johnny catching the baby the woman dropped down from the burning building.

  • As they are chiseling the boy out of the tree, one firefighter wears protective googles, but Roy who is doing the actual chiseling does not. He would have had to wear them too, for safety protocols.

  • In this episode at the Atlas Hotel, they defibrillate the old man in Room 310 without asking permission from Rampart. In earlier episodes they always get permission to do this first.

  • Squad 51 is alerted to stand by for the fire at the Atlas Hotel, which means to wait and see if they are called to the fire. When the units are dispatched, Engine 51 is dispatched but not Squad 51, but they go anyway

  • Season 2 Episode 12: Helpful

  • In the opening scene when the squad is rolling to the car hanging off the freeway overpass, the printing on the "Road Construction Ahead" sign is backwards and the car is wedged from the driver's rear to the passenger front. This entire opening scene was played in reverse. As Johnny and Roy perform the rescue, the car is wedged from the passenger rear to the driver's front.

  • Goof: Safety Issue--when getting the dog off the off, Johnny and Roy use both sides of a household type ladder. Only one side is supposed to be used, and users are warned not to use the wrong side.

  • Dr. Varner's first and only appearance.

  • Season 2 Episode 11: Musical Mania

  • The scene where Johnny and Roy are at the high school and the girls are standing around the one girl that has O.D., the woman that's playing the nurse is none other than Kathrine McGreggor a.k.a. Mrs. Oleson from Little House on the Prairie.

  • When the first call comes in Chet is right there and usually he would have been shown acknowledging the call out. But there is a cut away showing Roy and John getting in the squad and when it cuts back to the person acknowledging the call out, it's Captain Stanley.

  • This is the second episode in a row that showed someone with Tetanus (Lock Jaw). The previous episode, Dinner Date, also had someone with Tetanus.

  • Season 2 Episode 10: Dinner Date

  • In the scene where Johnny and Roy are treating the alcoholic guy, the little girl that's playing with a spaceman doll is Melissa Gilbert from Little House on the Prairie.

  • Captain Stanley nearly trips over as he and the guys reach the car where the overweight guy is trapped.

  • Season 2 Episode 9: Women

  • This episode along with "The Indirect Method" are the only 2 episodes where the ride-alongs didn't get issued a hat to wear on runs.  In the last run Christie wears what looks like a construction worker's helmet with her name on it, but still no fire hat.  Since both of these episodes have a women's lib theme, it seems that this is a way of making a clear distinction.

  • Stock Footage: The bridge they cross coming back from getting the man's hand unstuck from the garbage disposal hole is seen a lot in Season 2.

  • On the first run, the engine pulls out first. Usually, the squad pulls out first.

  • The actress playing Christie, Leslie Charleson, went on to play Dr. Monica Quartermain on the ABC Daytime drama General Hospital in 1977. She has been playing that role for 30 years now.
