      • (to Emily)
Teddy: And your poems aren't terrible. I kinda liked that one about the stars.

      • Emily: I love the sea most when the wind it's calm... Like it was the day I found Teddy Kent sketching by the shore. People thought he was strange, always off by himself, with those eyes that looked right through you. But I didn't think he was strange. I thought he was the handsomest boy in Blair Water.

      • (While in the Disappointed House)

Teddy: You'd better watch that tongue of yours or you'll never catch yourself a husband.

Emily: I don't want a husband, I intend to be a famous author. Teddy: Maybe you will.

      • (While Miss Browning visits, wanting an apology) Emily: She embarressed me in front of the entire class. Aunt Elizabeth: That's not what your teacher said. Perry: Then she told a pack of lies. Aunt Elizabeth: Perry Miller come out here right now. Perry: Uh, I better not do that misses. Aunt Elizabeth: Perry, I order you to come out. Perry: Well alright, you put it that way. (opens the door) Seems you caught me in my birthday suit.
