  • Falling snow...

    9.3
A beautiful and thought provoking episode.

Bishop is back on the center again as he is ill and is condition is getting serious. He has that strange effect on Kovac and it seems to affect him - I think for the best as he as lost his fate and it could almost be on his eyes, that he is looking for something, some sorrow and way to manage his anger. Maybe it will help.

Benton does little digging on his new position and gets hands on his application and founds out that he should not get in with his grades. But as Cleo says - he is excellent surgent and that matters.

Weaver has troubles to fitting in to the new lifestyle what Legaspi is making her adopt. But she feels so bad there and runs away.moreless
  • Awesome filming and a cleverly written story.without doubta chance to look into the mystery that is Luka Kovac.

    9.0
A beautiful beginning with the four couples in bed with the snow outside.A sign of intimacy between Abby and Luka which we haven't seen but had to come up some time. The line making love to me makes you think of a bishop made me lauf and it was good to see them both comfortable together i always get the impression their akward around each other.

Bishop Stewart made an appearance again and his involvment in Luka re-discovering his fath was well scripted. His final duty as a priest was short lived but it brought out some bad memories in Luka. His speech about realising he wanted to be a priest and getting lost in the woods with the snow on his face just really made me imagine that, like i was next to him it was just believable.

The whole snow intwined with the plot just worked i somehow don't think it would of been right without it and something about Luka looking up into the sky just made the story. So well written and acted on Goran's part.A hard episode to forget! wow...moreless
  • I absolutely love this episode! From beginning to end, it's just beautiful.

    10
This episode begins with snow falling down, and four couples in bed. Benton&Cleo, Mark&Elizabeth, Kerry&Kim and Luka&Abby. From the first shot, the whole episode seems serene. And ofcourse, every episode with the Bishop gives a calm feeling inside. And I'm even an atheist.

But I love every episode where we get to see the hurt inside Luka. This episode is like a prelude to "The Crossing", where we get the whole story about how his family died. I just simply love it.

They really capture the silence of snow in this episode. And here we also get to see the more intimate side of the Luka&Abby relationship. Up to now they've seemed kinda distant. But now we see them talking sweetly and personally in bed. I love that to.

What I did not like, however, is the storyline with the kid who dies from measles. They buried any doubt that vaccines can be bad, and having the boy die was an overkill. Anyways.moreless

  • TRIVIA (2)

    • In this episode, Peter Benton tells Cleo that he found his med school application filed in the back with three others under "AA" for "Affirmative Action." However, in season three, he told Dennis Gant that when he applied to med school he didn't "check the box" [indicating that he was African-American].

    • The title of the episode comes from the Bishop telling Luka when he decided to be a priest. He was taking a walk in the woods while it was snowing.

  • QUOTES (11)

    • (Abby and Chen are in the ambulance bay)
      Abby: You look great!
Chen: Oh, I still have a few pounds to drop.
      Abby: We can't tell.
Chen: I should have brought my coat.
Abby: I can go in and grab it.
      Chen: No, I'm alright.

    • (Talking to Luka, upon his return to the ER)
Bishop: I came here because I prefer your care.

    • (Kerry still in bed...Legaspi sitting on bed in a robe)
Legaspi: I need to dry my hair. (She kisses Kerry's hand, Kerry smiles.)
Legaspi: Are you going to watch me again?
      Kerry: Um hmm.

    • Abby: You watch me when we make love.
      Luka: You're beautiful.
      Abby: What was her name?
      Luka: Who?
      Abby: Your wife.
      Luka: Danijela.
Abby: Did you love her very much?
      Luka: Yeah.
      Abby: I'm glad.

    • (Luka is standing outside in the snow, looking up at the sky)
Abby: Luka? What are you doing?
      Luka: I, I couldn't find a forest.
Abby: What? (silence) You brought Bishop Stewart back in? How's he doing?
      Luka: He's dying.
Abby: He might surprise you. We get enough miracles around here, why not one more? (silence) I'm freezing. Ready to go home?
      Luka: Yeah.

    • The Bishop: As I was sitting here, I was reminded of the night I chose to become a priest. I had been struggling with it for a long time. Several years. Anyway, that night I could'nt sleep. So I, I got up and went for a walk in the woods behind my fathers house. It was snowing like it is now. I don't have any idea how long I walked, but at a certain point I realised I did'nt know which way to go. I'd gotten lost. I was frightened. As I looked up into that dark night, he came to me. I saw all those millions of snow-flakes drifting down toward me. So still. So peaceful. Perfect. And I was filled with the love of our Lord Jesus Christ. Like pouring wine into an empty glass. I'm afraid I may have waisted my life. For some reason, that I never accomplished the things I should've. What God wanted of me. And now I'm frightened. I'm afraid of dying. There, I said it. I am afraid to die.

    • Malucci: That Legaspi's girlfriend, I hear she's gay.
      Weaver: I don't know.
Malucci: What I wouldn't pay to drop in on that little party, huh!

    • (Abby and Luka are in bed)
      Abby: You're okay?
      Luka: Uh huh. You?
Abby: A penny for your thoughts!
      Luka: Pardon?
Abby: It means, it means "what're you thinking about"?
Luka: Nothing really... I was thinking about the bishop.
Abby: Making love with me makes you think of a priest with lupus?

    • Elizabeth: It's despicable, Kerry, I hope some day you come down with a potentially terminal illness so I can do absolutely nothing to help you.

    • Mark: I hope my irradiated head doesn't screw up any navigational equipment on our next flight.

    • Romano: My gardener could have gotten a 3.8 at the U of I, and he had his head run over by an ice cream truck as a kid.
Benton: I went to the University of Illinois...
