(after Carol announced to the satff - who already knew - that she and Doug are seeing each other again)
Doug: Maybe something that you guys didn't know is that we've been seeing each other for a little while now, again... and I think it would be great if she were to marry me. Help me talk her into it. (everybody cheers)
Chuny: To Carol and Doug. Get it right this time.
Carol: You always have to outdo me, don't you?
Doug: I had the opportunity and I took it.
Doug: Did you get tomorrow off?
Carol: Not yet. Did you get tonight off?
Doug: No, I owe too many shifts. Christmas Eve will cost me double.
Carol: This is so unfair.
Doug: Yeah, well, flex your muscle. You make the nursing schedule.
Carol: Yeah, which is why I get stuck with it. "Carol can work Christmas, she has no life." They don't even feel guilty about it.
Doug: Make them feel guilty about it.
Carol: Now, that's the Christmas spirit.
Doug: Tell them about us. This is stupid. I'm not going anywhere. You know that.
Carol: I know. I know.
Kerry: So, you're going to work a shift?
Ellis: I have been known to practice medicine on occasion...
Though spelled correctly when he is listed as the series creator in the opening credits, Michael Crichton's last name is incorrectly spelled "Chrichton" when he is listed with the other executive producers in the end credits of this episode. This mistake was repeated in most of the Season 4 episodes and in all of the Season 6 episodes.
George Eads, who plays EMT Greg Powell in this episode (as well as two more episodes, "Sharp Relief" and "Carter's Choice") went on to become a star on the CBS series CSI: Crime Scene Investigation. Eads is not the first CSI cast member to appear on ER before CSI premiered: Marg Helgenberger had a recurring role in Season 2 as Karen Hines, Ray Ross's business partner and Doug Ross's love interest; and Jorja Fox portrayed Dr. Maggie Doyle in Seasons 3–5.
