It was quite a filler episode with nothing too important. The pearl, if it could be said, in this case, was the boy with ALD and Doug gave his mother a medicine from their research without permission - it made a scandal as it was not allowed and jeopardizes the hospital. But he does not care - he is Doug and does what he thinks.

Also Doyle had complains about Romano and wanted Elizabeth's help but she did not wanted to go with this until the end she just rushed into hall and said she want to meet with Weaver. It was quite ... no point making episode.moreless
