She is referring to the Oedipal complex, a Freudian term drawn from the myth of Oedipus that designates attraction on the part of the male child toward the mother and rivalry and hostility toward the father. The myth of Oedipus comes from the ancient Greek play, Oedipus the King, written by Sophocles. It is the story of a man who unknowingly kills his father and marries his mother.
