The Exxon Valdez was an oil tanker that struck a reef in March of 1989 and spilled over 10 million gallons of oil into Alaska's pristine Prince William Sound. In 1990 the ship was repaired, renamed the Sea River Mediterranean, and sent to work in the Atlantic.
