In this episode we learn why Tony calls Neela "Mayday"; it's the name of his favorite Bond girl. Mayday appears in 1985's A View to a Kill. She starts off as a bad character and then turns around and saves the world.
(with Pratt after her rather disastrous makeover)Pratt: You did a stool culture?
Abby: Yep.
Pratt: C diff?
Abby: Yeah.
Pratt: You're all set for your yearbook pictures later?
Abby: (snatching the chart away) Bite me? (Pratt laughs)
Neela: What happened to Ray had nothing to do with me. He's the one that got pissed drunk at Abby's wedding. He's the one who stumbled in front of that truck. Not me. Even he says that.
Katie: You done?
Neela: You can hate me as much as you like. I couldn't care less. But I will not take the blame for what happened to Ray. You got that?
Tony's nickname for Neela is "Mayday," after his favorite Bond girl from the 1985 film A View To A Kill. The character, portrayed by Grace Jones, is initially evil, but has a change of heart and ends up saving the world.
Neela: Every time I think I'm out, they pull me back in.
This is a paraphrase of a memorable quote from the 1990 film The Godfather: Part III, where Michael Corleone, portrayed by Al Pacino, laments his destiny with the line "Just when I thought I was out, they pull me back in."
Morris: Farrah's my favorite!
Morris thinks Abby's new winged hairstyle resembles that of Farrah Fawcett's, the actress best known for starring in the 1970's television series Charlie's Angels. Farrah was famous for her luxurious, fluffy, feathered blonde hair.
