Abby: O.k. You gotta help me out... I don't know what to do. Rub your back? I'm not exactly sure what I'm supposed to do here.
Carter: Well, I'm not exactly sure how I'm supposed to comment on your love-life.
Abby: I said no because I was waiting for something to happen... with us.
Carter: You've been waiting?
Abby: Yeah.
Carter: But you weren't doing much to move it forward.
Abby: No, you gave me an ultimatum. You stood right there and gave me an ultimatum, and I did what you asked and you have done nothing.
Carter: What did I ask you to do?
Abby: I broke up with Luka.
Carter: First of all; you didn't break up with Luka for me.
Abby: I didn't?
Carter: No. Second of all; you didn't break up with Luka.
Abby: Really? I'm pretty sure I did.
Carter: Well, then why do you care so much about what he does or what he thinks, or who he helps, or what he thinks about you!
Abby: I dated the guy for a year, there's gonna be some history.
Carter: Maybe too much history.
Abby: Well, yeah. I had a life before John Carter. If you want someone with no history you're gonna have to find yourself a virgin.
Carter: No, I'll settle for someone who isn't hung up on somebody else.
Abby: You don't have to settle for anything, Carter. (Walks away)

Abby: I got asked out by a fireman today.
Carter: Really?
Abby: Mh-mm...
Carter: Ankle guy?
Abby: Yeah. Hard to believe?
Carter: No.
Abby: He was good looking.
Carter: Big?
Abby: Yeah. Funny.
Carter: Invite me to the nuptials.

Fireman: Would you like to go for coffee or something?
Abby: Oh, I'm sorry. I'm... not available.
Fireman: There is a boyfriend.
Abby: Ah, well.
Fireman: You don't know?
Abby: I don't know... But thank you.

Carter: What's your problem?
Abby: Nothing.
Carter: Still fighting?
Abby: No. Luka has a new project.
Carter: Oh, like what? Coin collecting?
Abby: Good call. That cookie girl. She works here now.
Carter: Why do you care?
Abby: I don't... What? I don't.
Carter: O.k. (leaves)

Luka: So, uh. Listen... about Nicole.
Abby: You don't have to explain.
Luka: I want to.
Abby: No really. It's none of my business... It just seems like you're going way out on a limb for someone you barely know.
Luka: She lost her job.
Abby: Yeah, but is that your problem?
Luka: Why not help?
Abby: Is she like your girlfriend now?
Luka: I got her a job, that's all.
Abby: So it's not like she's living with you. (silence) She's living with you?
Luka: Just till she can save some money for her own place.
Abby: Luka!
Luka: She was staying at a hostel.
Abby: So?
Luka: So, she's a sweet girl. I'm trying to help.
Abby: You don't have to help everybody.

(Susan and Carter are in Yoga class)
Susan: So what's the deal with you and the nurse?
Carter: Nurse?
Susan: Abby.
Carter: What do you mean?
Susan: Just seems like there's something there.
Carter: We're friends
Susan: You're shaking.
Carter: I know. I'm going back to cow. It's actually kinda undefined... Abby. She just broke up with Luka.
Susan: I get it.
Carter: What?
Susan: You don't wanna be the rebound guy.
Carter: Not exactly.
