Goof: Malucci's name plaque appears on the wall of plaques. However, in his last appearance (in the Season 8 episode "Never Say Never") we clearly see him taking his name plaque off his locker door and putting it in a box with the rest of his belongings. He then abruptly leaves the hospital.
One of the Bible passages Abby recites is from the Book of Job, Chapter 38, verse 17. She recites only the first half of the verse, "Have the gates of death been shown to you?". The second half reads "Have you seen the gates of deep shadows?". It is surprising that this portion was omitted, considering how well it fits into the light/dark themes of the episode.
Six of the twenty-three names on the wall of name plaques are of producers, writers, directors, and a key make-up artist: L. Woodward, N. Baer, S. Gemmil, Salamunovich (for both M. and C.), B. Arrollo, and J. Orman. All the rest are names of characters from the show's history, mostly doctors (Del Amico, Barnett, Finch, Benton, Corday, Doyle, Lewis, Ross, Gallant, Chen, Pratt, Malucci, Greene, Weaver, and Romano) with one nurse (Hathaway) and one medical student (Knight). Carter did not put his name on the wall because he thought it defaced government property.
(to Abby, about her wedding, using the Yiddish word for "crazy" or "senseless")
Rabbi: Listen, the ceremony was "meshuga." Those are the ones that last.
Banfield: How does the board look, Doctor?
Abby: Umm, clear, with a white frame, lots of writing on it.
Abby: (to Morris) If I were in trouble, Archie, I would call for you. I would. I would trust you with anything. (pause) And I didn't always feel like that, but I do now.
Chuny: This is Mrs. Wellington, with her sons, Larry and Curly.
Abby: Uh, Where's Moe?
Banfield: (to Abby) You are a baby attending, flying blind here. Take my help, if you want to stick around. Otherwise, feel free to use the door, and I'm talking about the big picture. So--there are your options.
Apocalypse Believer: Welcome to the end of the world. Today, everything changes.
Abby: Today? Really? I thought it was next week.
Haleh: (to Abby) We are gonna miss you so damn much.
(looking at the name plaques on the supply closet wall)
Abby: I don't see Carter up there.
Haleh: He wouldn't do it. He said it was defacing government property. (they both erupt in laughter)
Morris: Ever been at a crossroads?
Abby: (long pause) Who do you think you're talking to?
Goran Visnjic has no dialogue in this episode and only appears at the very end.
Although listed in the opening credits, David Lyons does not appear in this episode.
The words Abby speaks at the beginning of the episode are from the Old Testament of the Bible (New International Version (NIV)), specifically the Book of Job, Chapter 3, verses 20-22 and 24-26:
20 Why is light given to those in misery, and life to the bitter of soul,
21 to those who long for death that does not come, who search for it more than for hidden treasure,
22 who are filled with gladness and rejoice when they reach the grave?
24 For sighing comes to me instead of food; my groans pour out like water.
25 What I feared has come upon me; what I dreaded has happened to me.
26 I have no peace, no quietness; I have no rest, but only turmoil.
At the end of the episode Abby quotes from Job 38, v.16-19:
16 Have you journeyed to the springs of the sea or walked in the recesses of the deep?
17 Have the gates of death been shown to you?...
19 What is the way to the abode of light? And where does darkness reside?
18 Have you comprehended the vast expanses of the earth? Tell me, if you know all this.
