John Carter returns from vacation and has the usual day from hell, drawing Peter's ire for forgtting key things; Mark goes to his first staff meeting and has his choice for chief shot down; The broken air conditioner and the ensuing repairs becomes a storyline and culminate when a worker crashed thru the ceiling, falls on a patient and gets his heart started! Personal storylines which became almost overwhelming in later years are almost non-existent, giving the frenetic pace of the ER front and center where it belongs. Overall, a very solid episode for the top rated show in TV.moreless

- Goof: Carter tells Benton that his arrival at the hospital was delayed by Hurricane Phyllis. There never has been a hurricane named Phyllis. The National Hurricane Center uses a rotating list of storm names over a six year cycle, and "Phyllis" has never been on any of their lists.
