Goof: When Carter is being taken to Northwestern by ambulance, his clothes and shoes are put over him, and his shoes keep on flipping sides between views of him.
Morris: You're a med student?
Emily: Fourth year. I'm doing a rotation.
Morris: (about Carter) That is an ER attending coding on the table, so please turn around, walk out, get your attending, and come back now.
Emily: I'm sure Dr. Wheeler would prefer it if I...
Morris: If you're not walking away from me within three seconds, I swear to God, I may start doing compressions on your head.
Carter: Morris... You saved me? I'll never live it down.
Sam: All you really have to do is send it up to laundry.
Tony: Not a problem.
Sam: Sure you don't mind?
Tony: Did I not just volunteer?
Sam: You know, you're not such an ass as some people say.
Tony: You know, Sam's an amazing person. She's very strong. She's overcome a lot of obstacles. You get to know her, you'd be very proud.
Mary: She hates me.
Tony: No, she doesn't.
Mary: Well, she thinks that I hate her.
Tony: Well, then, change that.
Carter: That film crew get to you yet?
Gates: They just asked me a bunch of boring questions about the effect on the economy.
Carter: The effect on the economy is that people get poorer and then they use guns to get money and the ER stays busy.
Gates: Now you tell me.
Carter: I reached a point about 5 years ago, where I started to feel that every day was the same thing, and I'd had enough. (pause) But I've been through a lot of stuff since then. And now, (pause) I try to embrace the idea that everything that happens has never happened before. Like, the saying that you can't stand in the same river twice, because by the time that you come back, it's not the same river, (long pause) and you're not the same man. (pause) Anyway... I look around at this place now and can't imagine ever finding it boring, because right at the moment that you think you've seen it all, something happens that you never could've expected. (the monitor starts to beep, and Carter turns the sound off, smiles at the camera, then sighs deeply with a serious look on his face)
Neela: Look, a terrible thing was done to you. I understand that. I hate that it happened. But somewhere, in all of what's gone on between us, one thing is clear--we're not meant to be together. Doesn't mean we don't care about each other deeply but... You know, I truly believe there's something better out there for both of us, whenever we're ready for it.
Neela: Something more right.
Morris: C'mon! You can be a little late.
Claudia: No, I can't!
Morris: What's so important?
Claudia: Mmm...A murder investigation?
Morris: That's the best you can come up with?
Although listed in the opening credits, Angela Bassett does not appear in this episode.
Bernstein: Take it from me--a badge beats a lab coat any day.
Morris: Yeah, yeah. Band of brothers, right?
This exchange takes place when Claudia's partner shows up in the trauma room and things get a little agitated between him and Morris. Scott Grimes, who plays Morris, was one of the main characters (Sgt. Donald Malarkey) in the 2001 HBO mini-series Band of Brothers.
