Ernie In Kovacsland

Show Summary

Ernie In Kovacsland is a classic comedy variety show starring the award-winning comedian, Ernie Kovacs. In the style of Rowans & Martins Laugh-In and The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson, Kovacs paves the way for future comedians to copy his sketch comedy and satires. His shows include a weekly Kovacs top ten list and premonitions from the Great Kovacian. Singer Edie Adams backs up the host throughout the series, and the two create several ad-lib songs about absolutely nothing. After receiving a bunch of props from the public from a sketch where Kovacs asks for donations, the giant blow up doll, Gertrude, becomes a regular on the show. In another episode, a real homeless man takes a nap on the Kovacsland set. Kovacs and Adams also go on the road, searching L.A. streets for funny real-life situations. The couple raids a movie theater while a show is in session, looking for couples making out. They also head to the beach to see if they can find people playing hooky from work. Kovacs films each episode in thirty-minute segments.
