  • When an American jazz musician visiting Moscow falls for a Russian girl, the romance attracts some unwelcome attention.

    7.0
The Cold War was beginning to thaw out a little by 1964, and American jazz was quite popular in Russia. Several musicians had visited the Soviet Union with some success. The idea of this story is that the American musician is deliberately set up - not by the girl, but by intelligence chiefs - so that he can be arrested on a trumped-up charge and then exchanged for a rather more important Russian spy whom the Americans have lately captured. The episode doesn't do very much with its Montague-and-Capulet storyline beyond making the usual point that international conflicts can destroy the happiness of blameless individuals. Ron Randell, the best-known actor in the episode, is rather wasted.moreless
