  • Quotes

    • (Carter swipes his thumb across a mark on the wall, then licks it)
      Allison: What are you doing?!
      Carter: Relax, it's not blood.
      Allison: Then what?
Carter: Chocolate. Hershey's Big Block, with almonds. (smiles)
Allison: How could you possibly know that?
(Carter leans over, picks up the wrapper and shows her)
Carter: Believe it or not, I have done this before.

    • Carter: What're you doing out of your cell?
Zoe: I'm getting take-out for me and Jo. Turns out we have a lot in common.
      Carter: Like what?
Zoe: Like fighting an oppressive patriarchal society to express our feminine power.

    • Beverly: Will your wife be joining you?
Carter: My wife? Oh, uhm. (holds up his hand with a ring on it) Not likely. We're separated.
      Beverly: Was it the sex?
      Carter: Excuse me?
Beverly: Well, it's a common problem in long term relationships. People get bored, they want to experiment sexually, and they don't know how to express their needs.
Carter: Well, not that sharing my sex life with a total stranger doesn't sound like loads of fun, uh, at the moment my needs are a nap and a shower.

    • Carter: Let's not shoot the crazy end-of-the-world machine yet, OK?

    • Allison: You know, the boyish charm act works better when you're showered and shaved.
Carter: Yeah, it's on my to-do list.

    • Warren: You must find all of this a bit shocking.
Carter: Well, I'm from L.A., nothing shocks me. (looks at Fargo playing with kendo stick) ... Well, almost nothing.

    • Zoe: I told you we should have made a left back there.
Carter: Don't make me use pepper spray.
Zoe: Are all cops this angry?
Carter: This isn't angry. I was angry at the truck stop when you told the waitress I touched you funny. This is way past angry.

    • Carter: (walking into Eureka) Civilization at last, huh?
      Zoe: By whose definition?

    • Carter: So, how long have you been in the tow business?
Henry: Oh, I don't do this for a living, I do this for fun. I just always liked fixing things. I was an engineer, back in the day.
      Carter: As in trains?
      Henry: Space shuttles.

    • Cobb: That was Ned Carver. He claims aliens have abducted some of his cattle again.
Lupo: Tell him to call me when they move on to anal probes. (Cobb and Zoe look at her strangely) Wait, um, that didn't come out right.

    • Carter: Oh, come on, Miss Blake, we're all on the same team.
Allison: That's Agent Blake, Marshal, and we're not even in the same league. This is way out of your jurisdiction.
Carter: Actually, I'm a U.S. Marshal, so technically the United States is my jurisdiction.

    • Carter: Where are you taking me, Area 51?
Allison: Oh, please. They wish they had our security.

    • Zoe: Thanks, Einstein.
Boy on Bike: I'm an Oppenheimer, the Einsteins live over on fourth.

    • Carter: I'm guessing you guys don't get triple A out here...
Sheriff Cobb: No, we... we have Henry.

    • Zoe: Where are you going?!
      Carter: To check the damage.
Zoe: And what if you don't make it back? I'll be stuck in here like those guys in the plane who had to eat each other!
Carter: You're right. (leans over to the glove box)
      Zoe: I know!
Carter: Here, here's some ketchup. Start at your feet, work your way up.

    • (after swerving the car off the road)
      Carter: Are you okay?
Zoe: You call this protective custody?!
      Carter: (groans) Oh, you're okay.

    • Carter: We're not lost, just taking the scenic route.

    • Zoe: It's just funny. You track me across three states, you find me in a city of, like, half a million people, and then you get us lost on the way back! I mean, you've got to appreciate the irony.
