Attacks in town may scuttle the Astraeus mission in the same week the final 20 will be named. Carter and Allison appeal the auditor's recommendation, but the proposed fix, a memory-reading gadget for the candidates' final interviews, may give them more details about each other than desired.

Ray Darlton: "Oh...the humanity!"
As Ray Darlton watches the Awesome Possums' trophy banner burn due to the Radical Racoons' failed engine test (courtesy of a young Fargo), he uses the same words uttered by radio reporter Herbert Morrison on May 6, 1937, as he watched the Hindenburg zeppelin burst into flames while attempting to land at the Lakehurst Naval Air Station in New Jersey. It is probably not a coincidence that the image of the burning banner is quite similar to the Hindenburg, either.
Title: "This One Time at Space Camp… "
The episode title refers to the line used throughout the movie American Pie in which Michelle Flaherty (Alyson Hannigan) tells stories about "This one time, in band camp… " The last of these stories finally gets Jim Levenstein's (Jason Biggs) attention.
Warren Hughes: What were you expecting, the Spanish Inquisition?
Jack: No one expects the Spanish Inquisition
A reference to "The Spanish Inquisition," (series two, episode two) of Monty Python's Flying Circus. Throughout the episode, various characters, when being questioned, say "I didn't expect this kind of Spanish Inquisition," after which three Spanish InquisitorsCardinal Ximenez (Michael Palin), Cardinal Fang (Terry Gilliam), and Cardinal Biggles (Terry Jones)appear, with Ximenez screaming, "Nobody expects the Spanish Inquisition!"
Jack: I've seen this before, with the Stay Puft Marshmallow man, and
Jack is referring to the 1984 film Ghostbusters, in which Gozer the Gozerian asks the Ghostbusters to choose the form of creature that will destroy them using their thoughts. Ray Stantz (Dan Aykroyd), unable to keep his mind blank, thinks of something he says "could never, ever possibly destroy us"the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man.
