    Trivia, Notes, Quotes and Allusions

    • TRIVIA (7)

      • After Ren does the spinning triple, right behind Ruby, Hector, and Denise, the McDonald's "Golden Arches" can be seen.

      • When Ren puts bread in the toaster for all the hungry customers, it looks like the bread is already lightly toasted.

      • This is more of a nitpick but...In a spinning triple, you are supposed to only spin 3 times. But Ren instead spins 4. Wouldn't that sort of be different?

      • When the tourists order, they order toast with different toppings, but Ren never puts toppings on the toast. She only serves normal dry bread.

      • If there are different kinds of bread, how come it looks like the employees always grab the same kind of bread everytime.

      • As Ren is doing the spinning triple, she kicks up the third plate to be placed in her mouth. When she kicks it, the plate flips, but when it lands in her mouth it you see that it floats instead. How is that possible?

      • Ren identifies the piece of toast that Ruby "nibbled" on as pumpernickel, which is a very dark kind of rye bread. But when it's shown in a baggie, it's a much lighter kind of bread, like regular wheat, that couldn't be pumpernickel.

    • QUOTES (11)

    • NOTES (2)

    • ALLUSIONS (2)

      • The early scene with all the guys preparing and serving toast at the shop is similar to scenes in the 1988 movie Cocktail, in which Tom Cruise stars as a flashy bartender.

      • Nicky Pox: You ever heard of a little band called Kiss?

Kiss (or as they prefer it, KISS) is a heavy-metal band that emerged in the glitter-rock scene of the 1970's. They wore outrageous costumes and makeup and put on elaborate stage shows full of pyrotechnics and special effects such as one of the members throwing up "blood." They were hugely popular, especially with young people, but many older fans and most critics dismissed their music as simplistic. But there are those who give them lots of credit for heavily influencing the arena-rock and heavy metal music that followed. Kiss has had an up-an-down career that has seen them give up their make-up and costumes, then use them again for a reunion in the 1990's. Their best known song is probably the party anthem "Rock and Roll All Nite" from 1975.
