  • Great ending to a terrific show.

    10
Everwood was not only one of the shows you looked foward to watching every week, it was also a show that taught me and so many others important life lessons concering friendship, love, hope, faith and even desire. This final episode to me was like taking all the things and expereinces the characters had during the entire seris and putting them all together. This made me laugh, cry and it also made me realize the value and importatnce of the people around me. Amy and Ephram were meant to be together, but in most cases it was Ephram putting his heart on the line for Amy. When Ephram told Amy he was still in love with her and she told him that she was overit , it really broke Ephram's heart yet he still admired from afar and trusted that if they weren't going to be together that friendship was the next best thing. At this point Ephram told Amy everything he was feeling and Amy was just deining that she was still in love with him. In this episode I think that the ferris wheel scence was perhaps one of the best moment of this whole seris. It was Amy finally taking a chance for love. Now she knew Ephram could very well tell her off after what she had done to him but she took that chance in the hope for something more. When Ephram said that he still loved Amy that was the moment you knew that there was nothing that would ever tear them apart again, and even though this was the final episode we can still imagen what would happen next. Andy and Nina's wedding, eventually Amy and Ephram's. The Abott's raising there new addition and who no's mabey down the line Hannnah and Bright getting back together again. Everwood though gone will always be rembered as the best telivison show that was ever and will be .moreless
  • Series Finale of Everwood, an excellent show! Will be missed :)

    10
One of my favourite episodes of one of my favourite shows. It couldn't have ended more perfectly in my opinion. It was so awesome how Bright told Hannah to go but in doing that made her realise she wanted to stay. Andy and Nina finally get engaged, YAY! Delia finally gets her horse and one of the sweetest moments/scenes ever: Amy's grand gesture, her telling Ephram she loves him and Ephram saying "I love you too, I knew it then, I know it now, I'll know it always, You're it Amy, You're my one". awwwwww, totally made me cry :) Wish the show didn't have to end but i'm glad it ended in the absolutely perfect way it did.moreless

The best part was when Amy was talking to her mother about feelings for Ephram...

"He's not Ephram any more, he's Stephram, how can I just go to him now and tell him: Oh, you know, I still have feelings for you..." ;)

Bright and Hannah got used to the fact that they should be friends now, but I'm happy with this outcome... and Hannah going to A&M and not Notre Dame...

Amy and Ephram were very cute at the end...

All in all, I was very happy how it all ended(except the fact that Irv died)... but I still get the feeling that there is more to say.... that there's more material to shoot this show... and I'm very sorry that they didn't get the 5th season...moreless
  • The right way to end

    9.2
Though it was sad to see Everwood leave the tv screen, I have accepted it and moved past my anger :) I came to realize what a perfect way to end the series it was. There are some shows lately that have ended on a very disappointing note or have ended too early and therefore leave us wanting more without the possibility of having more. Everwood gave hope and a feeling of relief because Amy and Ephraim finally got to be with one another, both accepting all the baggage and each other's pasts so that they could live in the love that was intended for them since the very beginning.moreless
  • Wow, that was real kitsch... But sooo amazing! :D

I've not seen a lot of Everwood, but I was bored, so I watched some episodes lately and I just watched the finale. Couldn't have been cornier, if you ask me... The scene when Andy goes to New York to say goodbye to his first wife: kitsch! Amy suddenly realizing Ephram's the one: kitsch! Hannah deciding to stay after Bright's kitschy speech: kitsch! It was a total clichee finale! But I loved it!

Finally, Ephram and Amy got together again and her "grand gesture" was so sweet  It was a great installement, I just really love kitsch and this so definitely was kitsch!moreless

    • Edna: See? That is exactly why I am getting out of dodge! You can't go for five minutes without checking up on me, even if you think I'm okay! Imagine what it would be like if you knew how I really felt. I wouldn't get a minute's peace!
Harold: How do you really feel?
Edna: My husband just died. What do you think?
Harold: Well, you've made quite a show of saying that you're through with your grief. You've said that you feel fine.
Edna: I wanted you to think that so you'd cancel the pity party. The truth is...forget it.
      Harold: No, the truth is...?
Edna: The truth is, I feel awful! I can't sleep. I'm sad, I'm angry, and for the first time in my life, I can't picture a time when I might feel better. I don't see the other side of this one.
Harold: Well, you will. It may take some time...
Edna: You don't have to do that. I know I'm acting crazier than an outhouse rat, but I can't stop. I feel... like half a person, like without Harper... I don't know what my life is anymore.

    • Andy: You know what, Harold? I think I have finally figured you out.
Harold: Oh, I can't wait to hear.
Andy: You, Harold Abbott, are a hopeless romantic. At the end of the day, you just want the guy to get the girl, don't you?
Harold: Well, assuming that the girl is Nina, yes. And since we're baring our souls, you should know I was never in favor of you and Linda. In fact, I believe I told her you were a bit of a dilatant.
Andy: Well, that's okay. I used to leave home ten minutes early just so I could take your parking spot.
Harold: You sneaky bastard. See, I knew it!

    • Amy: You like Hannah.
Bright: I will smother you with my bare-assed cheeks if you tell anyone about this.

    • Ephram: I mean, everybody's got that picture in their mind. The one of, you know, how they think their life's supposed to be.
Andy: Well, the thing about the picture is... how do you look in it? It's not about who you're standing next to, or what's in the background... it's are you smiling?, are you happy?, are you good with the choices that you've made?... because if you are, it doesn't matter where you're standing or who you're standing next to... it's... it's a good picture.

    • Bright: Couldn't close the deal huh? That's weird. Little Miss Hot and Sassy? I would've expected more, dude.
Ephram: It wasn't a matter of couldn't, it was more a matter I just didn't think it was the right time to.
Bright: Oh, right. Because lord knows she isn't hot enough, with those legs, and the formal wear and the high heels.
Ephram: When you start noticing the shoes it makes me ask a lot of questions. So, uh, your sister, she, uh, get home alright? I mean, she was pretty wrecked...
Bright: Yeah, I dunno. I think Hannah took her home or something.
Ephram: Should we call, check, just to make sure.
Bright: (looks at Ephram sharply, then throws the cereal box he was holding at him) Uh-huh! That's why there was no 'it' with Stephanie! You danced with the devil last night, it fogged your brain. Clogged your drain.
Ephram: Don't rhyme! Don't rhyme, and don't clap.
Bright: Dude, what are you doing?
Ephram: Nothing. No, I'm just saying that there might have been some feelings last night while we were dancing, and I thought I should think about those feelings before I take any action on the Stephanie field.
Bright: You're going to screw this whole thing up, realise that, right?
Ephram: I'm just saying, if I felt something, maybe she felt something too.
Bright: She-she didn't! She didn't feel anything! That's your problem, Ephram. You think there's juice left in that box but there isn't. Man, you got Stephanie. She's hot! She's totally into you and she brings no drama to the table! You are going to throw that away, for what? For what? For nothing!
Ephram: I guess you have a point. I mean, Stephanie is pretty cool. She's smart, and she's funny, and...
Bright: Dude, she's awesome. And why are you gonna risk that for something that you and I both know cannot and will not, happen. Ephram, you guys had sex, alright. You gave her the stack of postcards, remember? You told her that you loved her. Dude, she blew you off. You think a dance at a bat mitzvah's going to change that?
Ephram: You're right. (he walks back to his room)
Bright: Most of the time. Can I have that box back now, please? It's our last box!

    • Amy: You think I should just waltz on over to Ephram's house and tell him how I feel? What if he thinks that it's an act of jealousy? You know that's what he's going to think.
Hannah: Then you tell him that it's not. It's not, right? And you're absolutely 100% positive about that?
Amy: I wasn't. Not at first. But then, after the funeral, I was sitting there with Grandma, and we were talking about how Irv made her feel, and how much she loved him, and you know, that's how Ephram makes me feel. Not just safe, but happy. He makes me laugh. And I know he'll be there for me when I cry. He's always been there for me. I'm just finally realising how rare that is.
Hannah: That. That. You say that, you write that down.
      Amy: Really? Good work?

    • Amy: I can't just not tell him because he met a girl less than a month ago. I mean, you saw that dance, right? That was hot! There was heat there!
Hannah: A flame that will not die.
Amy: Exactly. And I just don't think it was that hot with him and the other one.
      Hannah: Stephanie.
      Amy: Whatever.

    • Bright: So you come any closer to making a decision? About school, you know?
Hannah: Ugh. No. It's getting ridiculous since my registrations is due like tomorrow.
Bright: I think you should go to Notre Dame, Hannah.
      Hannah: What?
Bright: It's not because I don't love you, I really do love you, but this is... it's the right thing to do.
      Hannah: I don't understand, why...
Bright: I was all ready to tell you to not go to Notre Dame, I had a whole pitch all planned out, and knowing my charm it probably would've worked out. But I was doing it for me. Okay, because I couldn't bear the thought of not seeing you everyday, and because part of me was hoping that maybe we could get back together, or something. But I was being selfish. I mean, come on, if there's anything you taught me, when you love someone you gotta put them first. You worked your ass off to go to Notre Dame and you should go. You deserve to go.
      Hannah: Yeah, but I...
Bright: The only reason you wouldn't go is coz you're afraid to lose us? Come on, Hannah, that's not gonna happen. Alright, we're always gonna be here. I'm always gonna be here for you. I know I let you down before, I promise that will never going to ever happen again.
      Hannah: Right.
Bright: So it's gonna be me and you, just best friends, for life.
      Hannah: For life.
      (They hug)

    • (Ephram runs downstairs and outside, and sees the ferris wheel, with Amy in front of it. He stops and stares at it)
Amy: Don't say anything yet. I wanna go first, and since I brought the ferris wheel I figured you'd let me. Okay, um. Four years ago, you came to my little town, and you changed my life. I never thought that one person could do that to another, but you did. And from the moment I met you and each moment after that, somehow everything that happened to me, kept coming back to you. I don't know if the ferris wheel reminds you of anything...
Ephram: Are you kidding me? How could I forget our first thawfest? It's when you first told me your nickname was Grover.
Amy: I can't believe you remember that.
Ephram: I remember everything about us, Amy.
Amy: Me, too. See, that's the thing. Every time I try to forget the feelings that I have for you, they just... they just keep coming back, and now they're back, and I don't want to push them down anymore. I don't wanna run away from us. Because I never want to lose you again, I just want to be with you, next to you, wherever you are. And I'm sorry that it took me so long to figure it out, I really am, because I hate all the time that we lost and I know it's my fault and I just really hope that you can forgive me.
      Ephram: Amy.
Amy: Because I love you, Ephram. I love you.
      (Ephram kisses her)
Ephram: Is it my turn yet? Good. Because I love you, too. I knew it then. I know it now. I'll know it always. You're it, Amy. You're my one.
      Amy: I am?
      Ephram: You always have been.

    • Jake: Don't wake Sammy up till I'm on that plane.
(He kisses Sam on his forehead and leaves)

    • Andy: Come on, I want to ask you something.
Nina: I don't have any shoes on.
Andy: Doesn't matter, you won't need them.
(They leave Andy's house and walk to the front of Nina's)
Andy: This is where we met. You were pregnant with another man's baby and I was fighting with my son. It wasn't a great beginning but it was our beginning. Anyway, you were working on the yard in this exact spot which I thought was very odd because there was still snow everywhere.
      Nina: And I remember.
Andy: The next time I saw you, you invited me into your house. We drank coffee and we talked, and I remember thinking when I left that it wasn't just a coincindence that I ended up buying that house. It was fate. Someone was trying to tell us something. You know how I feel about you, Nina. I'm in love with you. I have been for a long time and I can't imagine anyone else I'd rather spend the rest of my life with. So...
      (He gets the engagement ring)
Andy: I know you've seen it already.
Nina: No, I haven't. I never looked at it, I promise.
Andy: Oh. This makes this part more fun. (He gets on his knees) Nina Feeney, will you marry me?
      Nina: Yes, I will.

    • Rose: Amy, you haven't moved for over two hours. Are you sick, sweetheart?
Amy: No, I'm stupid. I had the thing, mom. I had the thing that everybody wants and I threw it away. And now Ephram has become Stephram and you can't just walk up to Stephram and be like, Hi, I'm in love with you again. Especially 'cause she's buying him jackets.
      Rose: Ok.
Amy: She's worked back from the inside. She has home-court advantage. I thought I could work the old-school angle, but now I'm realizing that I have no angle. All I have is how I feel and I can't even describe how I feel because it's just, it's so...
      Rose: Much.
      Amy: Yes, exactly.
      Rose: You love Ephram.
      Amy: Mom, yes. Keep up.
Rose: But why aren't your feelings enough, sweetheart? Considering the history you two have, it could maybe amount to more than a jacket. And if you could express your feelings to Ephram in a slightly less anxiety provoking way than you just expressed them to me, well...
Amy: It won't be enough. Saying the words doesn't even come close to how I feel about him. And besides that, this is Ephram. Grand gesture Ephram. He had his dad perform surgery on my boyfriend while he was in love with me. He wrote my Princeton essay for me. Our first time together.
Rose: I get it. Say no more.
Amy: I just think if I can find a way to show him just how much I love him, that I remember everything and I'm not gonna forget.
Rose: Then you will. You will.

    • Andy: (praying to Julia) It was you I wanted to be this guy for.

    • Amy: Be proud, girlfriend, you are a woman!

    • Jake: I never expected to find love here in the first place, or to find myself. And I did both because of you.

    • Jake: I don't want just part of your heart. I want all of it.

    • Ephram: I'm so used to things not working out the way they're supposed to that I get a little freaked out when they do.

    • Delia: Are you going to leave me in the woods?

    • Amy: Ok, so they're dancing, that's fine.
      Hannah: Is it not fine?
Amy: No, it's good, there's no reason for me to feel weird about this.
      Bright: Oh, boy!

    • Delia: Dad could you stay up here with me for a second?
      Andy: Sure.
Delia: My mom and I used to talk about what this day would be like. I always thought the three of us would be up here together. But I feel like she's watching us now.

    • Jake: And, you probably want this back too. It's yours right?
Andy: I've been looking for that. Where did you find it?
Jake: Is that what you want to talk about right now? Because I was thinking about why you bought my girlfriend an engagement ring, but if you want to talk about where I found it...
Andy: I never gave it to her.

    • Andy: Hey Jake, how's the packing going?
      Jake: Good, we're almost done.
      Andy: Oh, great.
Jake: Ya, uh we found a few things of yours and I uh thought I would bring'em back to you.
      Andy: Fine.

    • Jake: Hey hun, I can't tell which of this stuff is staying in Everwood and which is going to Minnesota.
Nina: Just bring it all down.
Jake: We got a huge problem.

    • (Baby whimpers)
Bright: What the...? Mom, dad you better come see this! (Bright picks up baby and takes it inside)
Harold: (Reads note) I know in my heart you will take good care of Lilly ever; one will be better off this way. Thank you and I'm sorry, Kathy.

    • Amy: Hannah, you busy?
Hannah: Just packing up my room again.
Amy: I need your help with something. Tell me that I don't like Ephram?
Hannah: Oh, no. You're not going to get me that easy, Amy Abbott. I did not just fall off the pickle truck.
Amy: No one said you did. No one says that ever.

    • Ephram: You know she's the first person I'd meet when I moved here, so she's a big part of the reason Everwood feels like home to me and my dad.
      Jake: Right.
Ephram: I guess, that's why this all seems so sudden, you know?

    • Ephram: Any word on what's going to happen to the place after you guys leave? I've heard some talk about Therman opening up a Moroccan restaurant.
Jake: The man loves belly dancers.

    • Jake: Ephram Brown.
      Ephram: Hey, Jake.
Jake: I'm going to miss you and your sullen ways.

    • Nina: I can't believe I let you talk me into this, we should probably go.
Hannah: No way! No way! You check there I'll check there, Go, go.
      Nina: Mmmm...
Hannah: Who knew a man could have so many shoes?
Nina: Well, he's from New York.

  • NOTES (6)

  • ALLUSIONS (6)

    • Harold: (to Andy) Oh, because not eight months ago, you were lying on that very couch, confiding in me your feelings for Nina. I listened... and provided what I believed to be very good counsel, happy to play Cyrano to your Christian.

Cyrano and Christian are characters from Edmond Rostand's 1897 play Cyrano de Bergerac. The play is only loosely related to the real Cyrano de Bergerac and focuses on Cyrano's inability to express his feelings for the woman he loves.

    • Ephram: (to Amy) It was definitely the best Will Farrell movie I've seen all day.

Will Farrell is a comedian and actor who appeared on Saturday Night Live from 1995 to 2002. Farrell has also starred in numerous comedy movies, including Old School, Anchorman, and Blades of Glory.

    • Edna: (to Harold) Listen up, Columbo. You had no business fact-checking my story.

This is a reference to the TV show Columbo that ran periodically for ten seasons, from 1968 to 2003. Peter Falk played the role of Lieutenant Columbo, a homicide detective with the LAPD.

    • Harold: Oh, indeed. The funeral baked meats did coldly furnish forth the marriage tables.
Rose: There's no need for Shakespeare, dear, we get the point.

Harold's quote comes from the William Shakespeare play Hamlet, which was written around the year 1600. The play tells the story of Price Hamlet as he seeks revenge on his uncle, who killed Hamlet's father and married his mother.

    • Amy: Now Ephram has become Stefram.

Amy is referring to the combination of lovers name like Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez as Bennifer.

    • Hannah: Yes, but you did not kill someone and then try to hide the body from Sam Waterston, so I don't really think that applies right not.

Sam Waterston plays Ada Jack McCoy in the NBC series Law & Order.
