An exultant Chris (that's Chrissy Chris, to you!) does everything and invests everything he has in order to prepare for his DJ gig: He buys the ultimate club toola pair of the Technics SL-1200MK2 turntables (oh yes, I had that turntable, too!); cartridges; and special DJ apparel: presentation is everything in this business!; and he even cops a James Brown recording of "The Big Payback" (not to be confused with just "payback" which is evidently a whole other world of trouble.) Chris gets the record from Rochelle, a James Brown-obsessed fan, who cautions him to return the record in good condition. Now, he's mo' ready!

I enjoyed both storylines in this episode: Chris's bargaining skills can certainly use some honing, as proved by his negotiations with the pawn store guy (guest star, Robert Wuhl); and Julius' big heart shines through again as he gives his all for one of his children, in spite of his fears.moreless

  • Chris becomes a DJ!!

Chris is a hit as a DJ after the neighborhood DJ gets arrested during a party and is asked to perform again next Saturday night so he buys a lot of DJ stuff including decks which he got from pawning nearly all he has after $200 didnt cover it. Some of the best scenes were with the pawnbroker and Kill Moves. Those two are hilarious but before the fun can start, Chris scratches Rochelle's James Brown album. Also seeing Rochelle dance and Chris lip sync to James Brown is one of the best fantasy scenes in this show. Meanwhile, Julius passes out when he sees a rabbit at a magic show he takes Drew to. He tells Rochelle he's allergic but has to confess he's afraid of them after the incident. It was so funny when the magician revealed the rabbit and the look on Julius' face was so funny. Good episode with a great soundtrack!moreless

    • Chris (narration): Rappers are the big stars now, but back then it was the DJs. DJ Jazzy Jeff actually had top billing over the Fresh Prince ..

DJ Jazzy Jeff & The Fresh Prince was a famous rap group consisting of DJ Jazzy Jeff aka Jeff Townes and The Fresh Prince aka Will Smith and famous for their '91 hit Summertime. They met in '86 and received the first rap grammy for "Parents Just Don't Understand". The allusion refers to the fact that Will Smith is a famous movie star nowadays who definitely gets top billing over his buddy Jeff Townes who works as a producer now and has his second solo album coming out soon. • Chris (narration): Back when everyone else was being scared by The Exorcist . . . William Friedkin's 1973 film The Exorcist is widely considered to be one of the most frightening horror movies of all time. The movie is about an innocent little girl who falls victim to demonic possession and a troubled priest who tries to save her by performing an exorcism. Edit
