This is a quintessential episode. Perhaps I should reserve 9.5s and 10s for just one or two episodes, but this episode really does come close to perfect in terms of exposing the dynamics between all of the characters. Even the seldom-explored Frank-Debra relationship gets a couple of minutes. Best of all, the kids don't have any airtime! Marie: You call that controlling. I call that a family.
Amy: A mafia family.
Lots of episodes highlight Marie as the dominant character in the family. This one does it exquisitely. If someone had never seen Everybody Loves Raymond before, I would point them to this episode.
