In the scene where Ray, Debra, and Pat are in Debra's kitchen, Pat's purse keeps switching back and forth from her left and right shoulders.
Pat: I don't know what Hank would do if he found out I smoke. He has a jar on his desk with a black lung in it.
Marie: So all of a sudden, Pat's a hero? How about if I smoke "the pot?" Will you be closer to me then?
Robert: Listen, Hank, I know you're upset, but what your wife did is actually normal for many married couples. It wasn't really lying, it was more like just letting off some steam so you don't take it out on the person you love--like with Ray. He has to drive around the block two or three times every night with the radio blasting before he goes home to face Debra.
Ray: (after a long silence) Are you CRAZY? Deb, listen, I--
Debra: Oh, save it, Ray! You think I don't see you always hunched over the steering wheel with your nose sticking out?
Ray: So you know, and you never said anything?
Debra: No, I see you, and I get mad, and that's why every morning when you leave, I eat chocolate all day until you get home.
Hank: That's a lot of sugar, Debra.
Marie: Is that in addition to the drinking?
Pat: I know you're right, Debra.
Debra: So you'll talk to Hank?
Pat: Oh, good gravy, no!
Hank: Smoking! It's like you've never heard a word I said!
Pat: Oh, I do hear you, Hank, and it's very difficult because you're always so overly certain about everything.
Hank: You mean like smoking?? Well, why don't you just drink poison?
Hank: You know, whenever a faculty member brings me a youngster they've caught smoking, you know what the first thing is that I ask them? "Why don't you just drink poison?" Well, Mr. Barone, now I'll ask you, why don't you just drink poison?
Robert: Do you have any?
Marie: (to Robert) Don't you know smoking can stunt your growth?
Robert: Welcome, Mom and Dad-in-law!
Pat: (without emotion) Hello, Robert. (she sees Ray and lights up) Hello, Raymond!
Pat: Robert smoked a cigarette just to be closer and bond with me, which was very sweet, but just a little bit misguided.
Pat: I think you're the reason I smoke. You know I love you with all my heart, Hank, but if I didn't have my cigarettes, I think I'd have to fight you. Wow, that felt good to say. Thank you, Debra!
Hank: Thank you, DEBRA?!?!
Debra: You're welcome...(hides behind Ray)
Robert: Hey, Pat, I remembered how much you and Ray loved doing that puzzle last year, so I bought us another one: "The Ten Commandments." All ten of which I love, by the way, not a stinker among them!
Hank: Actually, we've already done that puzzle.
