A young man, Sam Gilula, arrives at Frank and Marie's and everyone is surprised when he and Frank fondly embrace. Sam explains Frank had been quite an inspiration to him as a lad, a mentor in fact, much to Ray and Robert's disbelief. Later, Ray and Robert make fun of Frank, wondering how he could have inspired anyone.moreless

Ray: (About Frank) You know how he mentored me and Robert? He would say, "Suck it up". Yeah, "Suck it up, Nancy". Those were his words of encouragement, right nect to, "Get off your pitty pot and act like a man". I heard that when I was four, the first time I fell off my bike.
Frank: I was a damn good father.
Ray: Yeah, right. And you gave us such great advice. "Quit crying, you got plenty of blood".
Robert: "Don't screw up. You're big, people will notice more".
Frank: I'm expected at the lodge. They'll know I'm missing.
Marie: You better hope that the lodge is opened 24/7. Because if you don't hug your sons, my kitchen is closed.
Ray: How do you think it makes us feel when we meet this kid that you're actually nice to?
Frank: Maybe he was nice to me. Ever thought of that?
Robert: How could we be nice to you? How could we be nice to a man who says, "Quit brushing your teeth so loud, I'm trying to watch Gunsmoke?"
Ray: Hey Mom, did Dad and/or the ham come back last night?
Marie: One came back inside the other.
Amy: Did that hurt your feelings? Well, get off your pity pot, Nancy!
Debra: You really are queer.
Ray: (to Robert) Your wife is so queer.
Robert: I know.
(Frank is hugging Robert and Ray)
Ray: All right, could we stop? The smells from my childhood are starting to come back.
Robert: Did we have a monkey?
Ray: And then he goes and he hugs this guy. What is he doing hugging this guy? You know when he hugged me? Uh, the closest he ever came was when he wrapped his arms around me to drag me away from a cake he wanted. You know? And it was my birthday!
Debra: What if it turns out that Sam is Frank's illegitimate son?
Amy: Hey, yeah! Maybe Frank's one of those guys with a secret life. You know, like maybe he's got another family in Florida.
Ray: That would be the only family in Florida trying to escape to Cuba.
Sam: When I was a teenager, I used to work after school at the same company as your father. He was a real mentor to me.
Ray: You sure you don't mean tormentor?
Frank: All right, everybody. You're welcome in my home, unless you sit in my chair, touch my remote, or are married to me.
