I don't know if was the fact that I have the theme song stuck in my head or if it's the random lines, or the fact that I was gasping for breath the entire time...

But anything that says: "Contents may be hazardous to your funnybone (and your sanity)" on the packaging is good in my book.

I got the IMPerfect Collection a year and a half ago, and I love it.  It's easily the funniest anime ever created.  I actually had to replay parts of it I had missed because I was laughing so hard.  I don't even regret paying retail for it.  It's that good.

I should get the DVD, all I ever saw was the last two episodes on Anime Network on Demand, and that other spinoff movie thing from the same people with some of the same characters. You know what I'm talking about.
I must say, however, that those two episodes are some of the funniest TV I've even seen.

Wish I had Anime Network, they still air it.

Without a doubt, one of the funniest animes I've ever had the pleasure of watching! Gotta love an anime where the main character dies 3 times in the first few minutes of the first episode and another character who dies at least once an episode (ala Kenny from South Park), but somehow always comes back to life. Anyone who wants a real challenge should try to follow along in the subbed version with Excel...it's near impossible!

It's easily one of the funniest animes around...I find myself preferring the subbed version simply because the Japanese VA who does Excel puts so much energy into her that it only adds to the hilarity of the character (and the show)...however, keeping up with the subtitles can be a daunting task with Excel's mile a minute delivery...

I actually prefer the dubbed version of this show, it just seems to make the jokes more accesible if your hearing them imo.  It also makes Excel's rants a bit more quotable, although her voice can be annoying.

Excel Saga's just generally a really funny show.

This show is amazing. Simply amazing.   Every episode is legendary in its own little way.  And I don't see why some people have problems reading the subtitles, with a few exceptions I have never had to pause it. And, honestly, I hate the dub. Excel's voice (in the English version) is irritating to me.

You only had to pause it a couple times? You are one heck of a speed reader. I had to pause it quite a few times. As for the last episode, which someone mentioned, I thought that was probably the funniest. Living in Japan myself, the jokes about the love hotel had me dying laughing. I guess you have to constantly see them everywhere to find that much humor in the bit. Anyway, one of the best show's I've seen ever.

BTW - Anyone know of some similar style shows, other than Puni Puni Poemy that is.

Heh, I actually watched Puni Puni Poemy first, and I have to say that Poemi talks a LOT faster than Excel. It improved my speed reading a ton.

I think I prefer Excel Saga to Puni Puni Poemi, I think the latter is a bit too creepy wheras Excel Saga is just sillier. Although Puni Puni did make a reference to JoJo's Bizarre Adventure which automatically makes it ace
