Exploring the Unknown is a TV science journal hosted by scientist and founder of The Skeptics Society, Michael Shermer. The ABC Family Network sends Shermer across the globe in search of some strange earthly phenomenon and unexplainable human accomplishments. Each week the scientist records and explains different skeptical subjects to audiences, starting with people who claim to have outer body experiences. Shermer finds a Canadian couple, and they try to convince the scientist that they have found a way to leave their bodies while sleeping. Shermer next takes on firewalking and spoon bending, giving viewers a good explanation on why people are able to do these impossible feats. Exploring the Unknown also shows fans how some people beat polygraph testes and why con artists are so successful at their craft. By the end of the season, Shermer looks at most of science's skeptical faucets, which includes graphology, remote viewing and even bible study.
