Well, I don't watch this show much. They do a great thing for lotsa families. It's great that a 9/11 hero is getting a new house, but Ty shouldn't try to be like Mike Holmes. He's goes in the room where the hole is made from the door knob and sticks his finger in and says 'there's not even any insulation in here'. Oh I laughed, because it's an interior wall, it's not supposed to have insulation. If an outside wall didn't have any insulation there would be about an inch of frost on it in the winter. Haha. I just had to add my 2 cents.moreless
  • Nothing touches the heart so much as the depth of the human spirit, when faced with aversion and evil. Mr Thomas is one of many who showed this human spirit on that fateful day and deserved this make over.moreless

This series is absolutely brilliant at the best of times, but this was so, so special. Everyone at those towers that day was a hero, but sadly as we know, a great deal of those heroes didn't return home. Even from England, the vivid memories of that awful day remain, and our hearts still go out to the USA; this programme being able to help such a wonderful family was exactly what makes the human spirit so admirable. Well done team and Ed, your wooden flag was tremendous. The EMO team have got it just right. They are not pious, yet not afraid to cry and show emotion; they bring to the fore all the best possible traits that human beings can have. We;re all so used to seeing misery round us with people taking everything they can without giving back. Well, the EMO team DO give back and in the very best possible way.

Keep up the good work team, it's a fantastic programme and has us glued to our sets whenever it is played.moreless

  • Tearjerker and awesome for 9/11 hero!

Probably one of the best episodes of the show if not the best one as this gave me goosebumps as well as know that people like Jason who nearly gave up himself to save two cops didn't ask for anything in return. Still this was more than a thank you. But an appreciation for what Jason did in saving two lives. Also on a persoanl level, we learn that Eduardo's wife is pregnant with triplets so congrats to him.moreless
  • A new home is built for a 9/11 hero.

What can I say about this episode of Extreme Makeover: Home Edition? I never thought it was possible for Ty and the others to top the episodes that have previously aired, yet when they arrived in Ohio to build that new house for 9/11 hero Jason Thomas, the design team did a great job honoring a true hero.

In addition to the lengths Ty and the other designers took to build the Thomas’ their new home, I thought it was great that while Jason is no longer a Marine, they came from the nearby base to help with the demolition and to welcome the family back home. Out of the special projects that the design team worked on, my favorites have got to be Ty’s and Ed’s. The way they were so proud at how much Jason worked to save the individuals that were trapped in the towers of the World Trade Center. I thought it was extremely touching how even after Ed severely injured his hand; the one thing that he was most worried about was getting his wooden flag completed before the family returned from their vacation. It was also great to see Ty at Ground Zero, talking to the two police officers that Jason saved.

Ultimately, this episode was great. I hope in future episodes the design team continue to help out families like the Thomas’. I also hope that Ed will be able to continue with his carpentry once his hand has healed.moreless
