Sheriff Lawton: Over hill, over dale, I have hit the dusty trail. A slightly rephrased line from "The Caissons Go Rolling Along," which eventually became the official US Army song in 1956, although with new lyrics that omitted this line. As it was, the line is an anachronism because the song was written in 1908 by Brigadier General Edmund "Snitz" Gruber, decades after the setting of F Troop.
