The fourth episode of Fairly Legal and yeah, the show is really not off to the best of starts. The appeal of the series is weird to me, I really dislike every character except Kate, who I'm not even that big a fan of, yet I want to keep watching. If only the cases could get better. I understand that this is a unique kind of legal show with unique cases, but that does not mean they have to have stupid cases. Just not a good episode of the show here tonight. This show is really starting to test my patience.moreless

Huge step down from the first three episodes of the series, the case was just... well- not entertaining to the slightest. Barbecue sauce, really? The case may have been unique, but when it came down too it, it just was about a father abusing his daughter, and we didn't get any cool mediation scenes either.

I'm not saying this show needs large doses of emotion, but I felt like this episode was just missing it's spark. Also, this episode made me realize how unlikable most of the cast is. Other than Sarah Shahi, the rest of the cast aren't a lot to write home about.

So not the best episode episode of the season and definitely the weakest one yet.moreless
  • I'm realizing whether I like or dislike an episode will depend heavily on the case Kate is mediating.

I didn't care about this case, one way or another. The fact that a barbeque sauce recipe was named after the person's father, and the representation on the sauce's label would use an actor's likeness (not the father), didn't seem like a huge legal issue. Even using that actor on the cooking show and calling him Bo(her father's name) - didn't seem like something the show's lawyer couldn't work out. And when the father turns out to be a nasty piece of work, turning up and demanding money, it seems the daughter should have immediately had him arrested for extortion. The only interesting bit involved the former Mrs. Reed, finally showing some human emotion, when she gets drunk during a business luncheon. All told, just a fair episode.moreless
