Fairly Legal Season 2 has just started airing in England last week. After watching the first episode I am beginning to remember why I detested the character Kate Reed so much the first time around. I've tried really hard to get on board with this character simply because she is lead in a TV series and I've tried to see the story for the character's eyes in order to understand her and generate some sympathy. But I've failed miserably. The truth is that Kate Reed's character is annoying, shallow, irritating, immature, petulant, self-indulgent, selfish, self-centred, thoughtless, and childish. Her few redeeming features are that she appears to be good at her job and sometimes seems to care more for her clients than for the real people in her life. That said, the only person I have any sympathy for her is step mother Lauren who conducts her professional life and her personal grief and loss with immense dignity, elegance, calm, maturity, and professionalism. My blood pressure shot up half way through the first episode and I am really regretting recording the rest. The worst ever lead character in a series!
