Episode 12
AIRED:
Friday night in the Academy, and the students return after the live showdown, minus Camilla. David is obviously offended by the comments that Carrie made about him, and as the students gather on the sofas, he reveals all to Jeremy. He explains that he is in no way boy band material, and that has been a label which the Academy has given him. Nigel gives him the most support. On Saturday morning, the students sit down to review their performances. David's is given yet more criticism from Carrie, who says that although he can sing, he needs to find vocal identity. Marli is shocked by her performance, and Ainslie says it was the most "un-Marli" performance he has seen her do. Afterwards, Nigel moans about Carrie to David, and says that he has not received one comment about his voice at the review. Marli bursts into tears, and ends up being comforted by Carrie, but Marli thinks that she peaked too soon. Meanwhile, David tells Ainslie that Jeremy has asked him yet more questions about tension between them. Jeremy was wondering whether David thinks Ainslie would have voted to save him - Ainslie says "I would have voted you out!" but clearly regrets being so blunt later on. On Sunday, David gets his chance to prove himself to Carrie, in his one-on-one vocal lesson. Carrie is astounded, asking why David put boy band songs on his list. David explains that as a new addition to the show, he wanted to fit in rather than showing off too much. Carrie stands firm, saying that he needs to review what he's put on his song list. There's also good news for Katie from the outside world - she's an auntie. Monday is, as always, Grade Day, and after another grueling dance act, the results are announced. Sinead is given the Grade A student, after Carrie argued her case in the Teacher's Meeting. Carrie wants Sinead to catch up to Lemar and Ainslie, who are bursting on ahead, so she's given her a confidence boost. Sinead's treat is a trip to a West End musical, and she chooses to take Pippa with her. Then it all gets rather nasty, as the probation students are announced - and it's the same old faces. Katie is on the list for the third time, needing to work on nerves again, after worrying the teachers for the whole of the previous week. The next two students are Pippa and Nigel. All three will be singing for survival on Friday. But, the trip to the musical obviously takes Pippa's mind off probation blues, as she and Sinead go off in a limo after spending a long time getting ready. They've all experienced probation before - who'll be going this week?moreless
