Episode 18
AIRED:
It's Friday night, and Katie, Malachi and Ainslie discuss the result of the student vote. Katie admits that she felt bad not voting for her friend, Marli. Katie even says that as the votes were revealed, she debated whether to quickly change her vote, just to give Marli some support. Malachi is offended and slightly upset, saying that he doesn't want to discuss it, and doesn't want to think that the students voted for him for the wrong reasons. When Katie tries to explain herself, Malachi goes to bed.

The next day, the students (as always) review their performances. Carrie notices that Malachi was talking when Mariah was still singing, and laughs as she says that there is a big lesson to be learned. Kevin, however, is not so forgiving. He says that it looked terrible.

Later, Ainslie talks to Jeremy about last night's vote. He thinks that a lot of the students voted tactically, and that he would have definitely voted for Marli had she been up against anyone except Malachi. Ainslie thinks that voting tactically is cowardly, and is looking forward to voting next week, if he's not on probation himself. Ainslie says that he will definitely vote for the most talented person next week, and hopes that Malachi would understand that.

Katie's vote is still on her mind, and she talks to Jeremy about her guilt for not saving her friend. She repeats that she could have changed her vote secretly to make Marli feel better.

That night, the students get dressed up for a special occasion - the Academy's own awards ceremony! The students dance afterwards, and Katie confides in Lemar about her crush on Kevin. Later, Malachi goes to the girls' room to say goodnight to Sinead, and they end up kissing. When Malachi tells Ainslie, he can't believe it, but says that he is happy for his friend.

On Sunday morning, the students receive some mail from the public. One letter begs Sinead and Malachi to get together, because otherwise Ainslie will steal Sinead for himself! Sinead and Malachi wonder how they will cope if they are split up before the show ends.

News in the Academy travels fast - and pretty soon everybody is gossiping about Sinead and Malachi's kiss. It causes some disbelief among the boys, and it seems that Katie is the last to know, because she is genuinely shocked when Sinead spills the beans to her, and she wants all the details.

On Monday, there are some surprises in the weekly Grade Meeting. Headteacher Richard Park announces that this week, there will be three Grade A students. These three students will perform live on Chris Moyles' Radio One show, and his listeners will vote for their favourite. The person with the most votes will sing at Children In Need on Friday night. These three students are Lemar, Ainslie and Sinead. The live showdown has been moved to Sunday night, where both Katie and Malachi will sing for survival. The teachers need more time to decide on the third probationer - but it's between Nigel and David.

The new arrangements cause some shock among the contestants, and both Nigel and David aren't too happy about the situation that they're both in. Katie being put on probation yet again also causes anger - with Jeremy even admitting that she deserved a week's grace.moreless
