EDIT
Episode 20 - Nigel Evicted
AIRED:
Another live showdown, and more hot competition, as Malachi, Katie and Nigel take the stage, ready to sing for survival. And to celebrate the anniversary of the UK charts, all of the students sing Number Ones. First up is Nigel. He sings "I Heard It Through The Grapevine" and shows an improvement from previous performances - which is noted by Carrie, who explains to host Patrick Kielty that Nigel "found his voice" this week. Next to take the stage is Katie, who is facing her fifth time on probation in a row. She sings a Madonna favourite - "Papa Don't Preach" which goes down with the crowds at Shepperton Studios. Carrie isn't so happy though - saying that Katie put in a better performance on the previous week. Lastly, Irish charmer Malachi has his chance to prove what he's worth - singing "Starry Starry Night". He goes down well with the ladies - including Carrie, who compliments him on "charming his way" through the performance. Other highlights are Sinead singing "Don't Speak", David's rendition of "Goodbye Girl" and Ainslie singing "She". Teachers' favourite Lemar also gives his own version of "Everything I Do". Then it gets to the serious stuff - as Cat and Patrick announce that, with 41% of the public vote, Malachi has been saved by the public. The students are then invited to give their own votes on who they want to stay; Ainslie goes for Katie, David sticks to his loyalty to his best friend and chooses Nigel, Sinead goes for girl power and picks Katie, and Lemar opts for Nigel too. It's then down to Malachi to give the final vote - which is for Katie, who has survived probation for the fifth time. But that means that Nigel has to leave the Academy, and he runs to hug his wife. And to end the show, the teachers announce a cruel twist - they will be giving the name of the first probation student for next week's show, right now. Richard announces the news - and it's David who will be the first student singing for survival next week. He jumps into the air and looks pretty happy about the result. David's ready to prove himself - but will he survive next week's vote?moreless
