In the toughest live showdown to date, Katie, Ainslie and David all sing for survival. It's Ainslie's first time on probation, and he faces tough competition - as he's up against probation queen Katie, and his fellow scot David, who has already proved himself to be popular with the public. David is the first to take his place on the stage, singing an Elton John classic - "Don't Let the Sun Go Down on Me" - a song which definitely cannot be judged as boy-band material. He puts in a good performance, and gets praise from his teachers. Katie is next, facing probation for the sixth time in a row. She has to cope with technical problems, when no sound comes out of her microphone, but it's soon sorted, and she's up and running. Richard Park makes no excuse when he gives his opinion of the performance - he says that he can make no exceptions, and merely describes Katie's hard work as "OK". Lastly, Ainslie sings for survival for the first time. He belts out "Don't Get Me Wrong," giving a good dance routine, but singing out of tune in a few places. Carrie isn't bothered about that, though, and she's amazed with Ainslie's performance. For the first time, the audience give their opinion of the contestants - and although it doesn't have any effect on the final public vote - Ainslie wins it. Lionel Ritchie makes an appearance again - playing the piano as the students sing their own song "Back To You," with Lemar singing lead vocals. Then Lemar returns to the stage to do his own solo - "Don't You Worry 'Bout A Thing". Richard gives him some criticism though - saying that he's a "bud that needs to flower". Sinead performs "Ironic" by Alanis Morissette, and Kevin criticises her for moving away from the light on stage. The audience aren't pleased, but Kevin stands firm - "She shouldn't have moved". Malachi is the last performer of the night - his song is "Have I Told You Lately" and Kevin seems happy with this performance. The public vote is announced, and the viewers seem to have a different opinion to the studio audience, because with 41% of the public vote, David wins the public vote. He has to choose between Katie and Ainslie along with the others. All four reveal their votes, and they're all for Ainslie to stay. Sinead immediately apologises to Katie - after commenting on how Ainslie proved himself tonight. It's an emotional moment, and all the students gather together to say their goodbyes to a good friend. Her sixth time on probation was unlucky for her - and Katie has to leave. The teachers end the show by announcing who will be facing probation next Friday. Malachi will be the first student to sing for survival.moreless
