EDIT
Episode 26 - Malachi Evicted
AIRED:
In an emotional live showdown that will see three best friends split, Malachi, Ainslie and Sinead sing for survival - each wanting to return to the Fame Academy for the penultimate week. Malachi is first to sing - proving to be a hit with the crowd once again. He performs "Something" by the Beatles, which gets praise from those hard-to-please Academy teachers. Next is Ainslie, joking to presenter Cat Deeley that he hopes to sing his song in tune this week. Singing "You Really Got Me", Ainslie shows himself to be quite the performer once again, but his vocals are also up to scratch this week. At the end of the performance, he even goes as far as to fall into the crowd! Last to sing for survival is Sinead. It's her first time on probation, but she sings "Walk On By" excellently. Carrie comments that she accidentally changed the lyrics at one point, but adds that nobody would ever know the difference. Patrick Kielty points out that all of the Academy fans know now that she has pointed it out. As the phone lines to save the three probationers are plugged, Lemar's version of "Yesterday" causes some controversy when Headteacher Richard describes it as "uninspiring", despite the fact that he receives praise from the other teachers. David then takes the stage - performing "For Once In My Life" and putting a dance routine into the performance too. But the teachers aren't very impressed - saying that David should stick to his own genre instead of trying to compete with Ainslie. The three probation students then sing their very own duet; changed from "I've Got You Babe" to "Stand By Me", accompanied by music teacher Jo Noel on the piano. And finally, the students sing the song written by Lemar and Ainslie - "Lullaby". The phone results are finally announced - and Sinead has won the public over this week, with 38% of the vote. She sits down alongside David and Lemar, knowing that she has to make an agonising decision. The three safe students write down the name of the student that they want to save - and both Lemar and David say that they wish to take Ainslie back to the Academy. He's won the vote, and Malachi and Ainslie hug as Sinead reveals that she voted to take Malachi back with her. Malachi thanks her, and says his goodbyes. After Malachi has joined his family, Richard Park ends the show with an announcement for the students. He informs them that the teachers could not single out one student who should not be on probation in the penultimate week; so all four students will be on probation, and singing for survival, next Friday.moreless
