AIRED:
The students return to the Fame Academy on Friday night after their live showdown - but without Malachi, who was a friend to everyone. But it's not all bad, because the remaining four students return to see that the Academy has been covered with Christmas decorations in their absence. Underneath the tree is a mystery parcel. The students gather to open it, and see that it contains the artwork for the Fame Academy Album. But this doesn't cheer up Ainslie for long - he can't believe that he's returning to the Academy without Malachi. The next day, David goes to perform on the BBC One morning show - "The Saturday Show". While he's there, he meets Irish pop-band, Westlife, who wish him luck for the final two weeks. When he returns to the Academy, he tells the students that the Westlife boys watched their live showdown on the previous night, and says that they are big on the outside world. He can't believe that crowds were cheering for him when Westlife were in the studio! As always, the students and teachers gather to review the live showdown. Lemar confronts the Headteacher about the comment he made about his performance being "uninspiring". Lemar describes it as a "throwaway comment" which he shouldn't say unless he can back it up. Richard explains that so many versions of the song have been done that there needed to be a certain something that made the song special - and that Lemar didn't succeed in changing the song enough. A group of professional songwriters enter the Academy, to help the students come up with another song. Ainslie is working with two of his favourite members of the band "James". When their sessions have finished, Jeremy starts a sumo wrestling competition. All of the boys will play each other - and the winner will go to the pub. Sinead must bet on who she thinks will win, and if she gets it right, she can also go to the pub. She backs Ainslie, who proves himself, despite being initially doubtful, and both get a trip to the pub. On Sunday, the students have a lot to keep up with. They have to work on the Fame Academy Album, as well as finishing their songs with the professional songwriters. These songs are performed to the others. In his vocal lesson with Carrie, David is told that he has some way to go as a performer, and can make a lot of improvement in the final two weeks if he's willing to put the effort in. The next morning, and Kevin pushes the students harder than ever now that their experience in the Academy is coming to an end. Later on, the students pay a visit to a local hospital, where they give away some of the cuddly toys and other presents that have been sent by their loyal fans. The final four seem to enjoy the visit. When they return, David is invited to turn on the Fame Academy lights, and Richard announces that the Academy producers plan to raise even more money on the final week with a trip to the students' home towns.moreless
