EDIT
Episode 6 - Naomi Expelled
AIRED:
It's Saturday morning, and the students watch their performances from the previous night. They acknowledge that all of them are better than those of the previous week - apart from Katie and Chris' performance of "I Love Your Smile". Katie looked nervous and even forgot her lines at one point. Carrie and Richard congratulate the students on their performances, but make it clear that there is certainly a lot of work to be done. Naomi goes to see a voice specialist who orders her to rest her voice, and to only sing for short periods of time. Carrie decides to give Naomi a day of rest, away from lessons, before the teachers make up their mind. Before Carrie's four-hour vocal training, Richard tells the group that Naomi will not be joining them today. But, Naomi cannot resist some singing, as she sneaks upto the classroom window, and joins in gently with the students' singing, before returning to her room silently. Saturday night is a night of rule-breaking for the students, with Ainslie laughing that one night, they will have to have a food fight. The students think it would be a good idea to have one right away, and soon Ainslie is covered in that night's meal. But once the students start fighting, they can't stop, with night-time pillow fights leaving the bedrooms covered in feathers. Richard Park is appalled, and reads the riot act to the Fame Academy students on Sunday morning, saying that having food fights is going "rock bottom" and reminds the students that rule-breaking will go towards tomorrow's grading. Ainslie disagrees with Richard's rules, saying that following the rules has no significance to how good a performer he is, and makes comparisons with other respected people in the music industry. But nobody else dares to question their Headteacher. In the day's song writing class, Ainslie wants to write a song about Naomi, one of the people in the Academy he is closest to. But, as he talks about her lovingly, the teachers are making an important, and very hard decision. They've decided to expel Naomi from the Academy, because she needs total rest, and cannot meet the standards of the Academy. Carrie breaks the news to her - saying that staying would be "vocal suicide" for her, and that she feels responsible for Naomi's future career. Naomi asks if she can just stay until Friday, to see how her voice develops, but Carrie won't allow it. Unfortunately, Naomi will leave tomorrow. Richard announces this to the group, who are clearly shocked by the news. Naomi breaks down in tears with Carrie, but the others all rally round her when she returns to them. Ainslie is honest with her, and says he's "gutted" by the news. Earlier on in the day, he whispered to himself that he was losing friends in the Academy. Monday is a sad day for the students, as they all say goodbye to their good friend Naomi. Richard Park says it is a sad affair, and asks Naomi to remember her friends at the Academy. Once everybody has said their goodbyes, Richard tells them that the show must go on for all of them. Monday is also sad for another reason - grading. Lemar is the second Grade-A student, having shown excellent progress and performances since he arrived. Katie is the first student to be put on probation - needing to learn quicker, and develop a pop singing voice, as well as a classical one. Chris is the second - needing to prove himself more. Lastly, the teachers announce that Pippa will be put on probation for a second week. She has improved, and the teachers want to challenge her as much as possible. Chris and Pippa take the news well, although Pippa does say that she did think she was doing quite well. There's tears for Katie though, but the others all comfort her as much as possible. But there's no time for tears though - with Friday's live show getting ever-closer, and with one student's eviction imminent.moreless
