Later, things hot up as the three students rejected by the public are revealed. Carolynne, Paris and Peter have recieved the least number of votes this week. It's a tough decision, which leaves Carrie Grant close to tears, but the teachers choose to keep Peter in the Academy for another week. Tension mounts between the students as the lines close and the votes are counted. While the votes are checked, Alistair is given a brilliant chance to showcase his musical abilities, as he performs one of his own songs live to the nation, after winning a competition amongst the students. It goes down well - and footage from the Academy shows just how much of a special opportunity this is - as many of the students would love the chance to perform one of their own compositions, instead of only being able to let the public judge on their performances of songs from other artists. After Alistair's performance, the votes from the public are finally revealed. The three students with the least votes are Barry, James and Paris. All of the teachers, except for David, decide to vote to keep Paris in the Academy, and it's down to Barry and James to battle it out for the student vote. By a vote of 4-1, with only Paris voting to save Barry, James is safe in the Academy for another week - and Barry is evicted.moreless

The seven Fame Academy students sing for survival, and highlights of the past week in the Academy show that Barry is sick and tired of the negative and unconstructive comments from the teachers - after all, if he is that bad, why did they put him in the Academy in the first place? After the footage of Academy life - it's down to business, as the live performances get underway. Alex sings "Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For," and although the teachers, particularly Richard Park, don't think that it went very well, they stress that she is an excellent performer who will go far. Alistair's song for the week is "Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For," and gets some praise from the panel, however Richard Park doesn't think that it's a good enough performance for him to stay in the Academy. Given the chance to respond to the comment, Alistair just offers an impersonation of one of Richard's classic quotes - "That's the first time I've heard that song sung without any emotion," which the audience, students, and even presenter Patrick Kielty find amusing. Barry belts out Robbie Williams "Feel," and highlights of his week in the Academy show that he has had quite a bad time over the past few days, feeling down because of the constant negative comments from the teachers. The teachers are quite critical of his performance of the Robbie song, but Carrie surprises everyone when she is the one to compliment him. Carolynne performs "Little Lies" to immense praise from all of the teachers, who comment on how Carolynne has progressed since the first show. Peter sings "You And Me," to cheers from the audience - and Carrie admits that she was getting tired of asking Peter to prove his vocal talent - however, he impressed her tonight, because he's finally proved that he can sing! Paris' performance is of "More Than Words," which the teachers feel isn't his best performance so far. Before the show closes, and as the lines open for the public vote, the public are shown footage of a rocky week in Alex and Peter's friendship. The pair came to blows earlier in the week, when Peter accused Alex of suffering from bad breath, and asked her not to breathe on him. Alex was offended and quite sad that Peter had no consideration for her feelings. However, before the pair had a chance to make up, Carrie and David announced that they would be pairing up to perform a duet of "Baby It's Cold Outside". Fortunately, given the chance to go back to what they love the most - singing, the two are friends again in no time, and the public are given a treat when they perform their duet live.moreless

Patrick Kielty and Cat Deeley return with a reminder of the performances in the previous show, and while the votes from the public are being counted, we see more highlights from the previous week in the Academy. The students were shocked on Monday, when Carrie and David announced that the students could split up into groups and write their own songs, with the help of Song Writing tutor John McLaughlin, and then perform them live on BBC Three. The group with the most votes would be able to perform their song live on BBC One. We see that Paris, Louise and Alistair's song "I'm All Yours" won the vote of BBC Three viewers, and so they perform their song live to the nation. Afterwards, it's down to business. Patrick reveals that the students with the least votes from the public are Alistair, Louise and Peter. Robin decides to save Alistair - but he's in the minority, as Carrie, David and Richard decide that Peter is most deserving of another chance. When Alistair and Louise go up to the student vote, a vote of 5-1 sees Alistair staying in the Academy, and Louise having to go home.moreless

The eight remaining students sing for survival, and the viewers are given highlights of the past week in the Fame Academy, which has finally seen the claws come out, and the bitching begin. The girls are uncomfortable with Barry - who they think goes too far with his comments, and then accuses them of being "stroppy" when they question him about it. Even Alistair agrees with the girls. The show also sees the spat between Patrick and Richard continue. Richard still doesn't like being interrupted by Patrick, and doesn't like how Patrick wants a "happy clappy atmosphere," because it's unrealistic to expect this. Barry opens the show this week with "Sweet Caroline," but the judges are not impressed with his performance. Carrie says that he would never make it onto Top Of The Pops - but Barry comments that not all of the students would want to make it onto that show. "Mature artists perform on Top Of The Pops," Carrie argues, and asks Barry whether he really wants to stay as a "karaoke singer" like he is now. Barry asks the judges to be honest with him in future before the live show - "If I stay in tonight, will you tell me what you mean?" he asks, to large cheers from the crowd and his fellow students. Alistair is next, singing "Against All Odds". Carrie, David and Robin are impressed, but Richard isn't too sure about the performance. Peter sings "Man Who Sold The World," and his performance is great as always, although there is still room for improvement with his vocals - but the teachers are impressed nonetheless. Carolynne sings Shakira's "Underneath Your Clothes". Carrie and David think that it's a brilliant performance, and David even goes as far to say that it's better than the original. Richard Park disagrees, "It is that kind of dangerous comment that will make Carolynne think that she is better than she really is," he says, and he and David argue about this. Patrick simply comments that it's good to see Richard arguing with somebody else rather than him for a change! James sings "Why Does It Always Rain On Me?" The public are shown footage of him saying that he thinks he is the most talented in the Academy - but will the teachers agree? Carrie tells him that while the others have evolved and progressed in their performances, he hasn't, and there has been no real change since his first performance. Paris sings "Misty Blue," and Richard comments that his voice was "a bit thin". Will this prevent him from staying in the Academy? Finally Alex is up, singing "Tainted Love", to massive praise from all of the teachers. The phone lines open for the public to vote for their favourite. Who will be leaving the Academy this week?moreless

They've been voted into the Academy, but tonight nobody is safe, as all thirteen students sing for survival. After three days of vocal coaching, the standard is high, but the teachers can't seem to agree on the performances, with Richard and Robin often giving entirely different opinions to Carrie and David. James is criticised for his performance of "Somewhere In My Heart" by Richard, and there's a surprise when Richard brands Audley's rendition of "My Girl" as "awful". There's a mini-disaster when Alex's microphone doesn't work - but Patrick sorts it out and Alex makes a great recovery.
