Episode Recap

Bill is on the phone with a friend and says he has about ten days of work to do so he won't be able to go out and socialize. Mr. French comes home with the twins from school. The twins show Uncle Bill a picture they drew at school together. Mr. French gives Bill a letter from the vice principal Mrs. Brown. The letter asks him to stop by the school in the morning.
The next day, Bill visits the vice principals who suggests that Buffy and Jody spend too much time together and that it isn't healthy. Bill says that since they were separated from each other for a year after their parents died, the children naturally will cling to each other. He thinks they should give them time to find their own friends. Mrs. Brown suggests they be put into separate classes. Bill refuses.

Back at home, Bill is bothered by the comments that Mrs. Brown made and second guessing himself. Mr. French suggests he consult a child psychologist. Bill goes to the psychologist who agrees with the schools suggestion and even suggests they get the children involved in separate activities. Bill goes home and tells the children he has a surprise for them. When he tells them they will be in separate classes they aren't too happy.

At school, it is recess and Jody is sitting on the pavement while the other children are playing. Mrs. Brown suggests he play with the other children but Jody says he is in a space ship and is orbitting the earth. Later, Buffy is out at recess sitting in the same spot. Mrs. Brown suggests she join the girls playing hopscotch. Buffy refuses saying she has to stay in communication with the space ship.

After school, Mr. French takes Buffy to her first dance lesson. Jody is left behind and throws a baseball mitt on Bill's desk and Uncle Bill asks him to go out and play catch. Later, the children come home from school with Mr. French. Jody has brought a friend home with him. They go off and play and Buffy is left by herself. Jody gets invited to his friend's country place for the weekend.

The next day, Cissy comes to Uncle Bill and tells him she is worried about Buffy because she is sitting in her rocking chair and says she is in a space ship and won't come down until Tuesday. Uncle Bill goes to talk to her but she is very unhappy. Bill decides he needs to help her make friends. He takse her to the park and they chat to a woman with a child the same age as Buffy. They meet up with a friend and go to a movie. Bill approaches a group of girls playing Simon Says and asks if Buffy can join. They say yes but Buffy is promptly eliminated from the game. Bill decides to take her to a movie instead.

On Sunday, Jody returns from the country and runs over to see Buffy immediately. Mr. French tells Bill that Jody was very quiet and didn't eat much while he was away, indicating he was probably missing Buffy.
On Monday morning, French comes to get Bill because he thinks the twins are sick. Bill goes to see them in Jody's room and immediately recognizes that they have made themselves look sick by putting lipstick on their faces. He goes along with their charade but then wipes off Jody's measles with his towel. He asks them why they did it but they won't tell him. He says he knows its because they want to be together. He tells them he is going to see Mrs. Brown and ask that the children be put back into the same class.

Bill shows French the towel and says he is now going to trust his instincts with the kids.
