Family Challenge

Show Summary

Basically, Family Challenge was a Beat the Clock-style show pitting two families (of up to six members each) in a series of games and stunts. The idea was to complete a given stunt - either against the clock or on their own - in the shortest time, with point values varying according to performance. As you might imagine on a show like this, these stunts were very messy. The family in the lead at the end of the show won the Family Challenge Cup and other prizes. Ray Combs hosted the first season of Family Challenge, but it was rumored that his departure after one year was because of his personal problems (which, sadly, led to his suicide). Talk show host Michael Burger succeeded Combs and production was moved to Universal Studios Hollywood.
