Show Summary

Sick, twisted, politically incorrect and freakin' sweet. The animated series features the adventures of the Griffin family. Peter and Lois have three kids - the youngest is a brilliant, sadistic baby bent on killing his mother and world domination. Chris, like his father, is obese, has a low IQ and no common sense. Meg desperately tries to be part of the popular crowd, and is coldly rebuffed. Their talking dog Brian keeps baby Stewie in check while sipping martinis and sorting out his own life issues. After being canceled in 2002, having an outstanding performance in DVD sales and syndication ratings that beat late-night talk shows, its cult status reached great heights. As a result, the series was added back to the FOX Summer 2005 line-up. Family Guy returned to the small screen with new episodes on Sunday, May 1st, 2005. A DVD Movie was released in September of 2005. Family Guy has won 3 Emmy awards and 3 Annie awards.

  • Family Guy Had Its"Good Old Days",Which Are Not Notably So Long Ago - Addictive, But Tiring

    2.5
Anyone could remember the episodes Seth MacFarlane has brought to the world that reached out to a very relative audience, I have seen them and I have seen them fade away. Season 1-9 of Family Guy had a just of comedy that related to a very, very large audience. The Family Guy jokes, as well as cut-aways, were not just understandable but funny. Season 10 of Family Guy changed all of that completely and season 11 show more sheer disappointment. There are now extremly poorly written cut-aways that are understandable but completely disappointing or unnecessary to be thrown into the episode. I feel that the writers are burning out old jokes or nevermore slapping a cheesy bit half way through there current episodes. A good piece of example episodes is "Turban Cowboy" and "Ratings Guy", each have notable examples of poor comedy. "Rating Guy" was showing a message that the way shows are rated are done by a chosen Nielsen family, by a Nielsen box. It was understandable but started building a hole in my head. I noticed that Family Guy rating have SLID, but that does not a good reason for Seth to put out (if that the message he is trying to send) an escuse over the fact that some episodes have stale jokes. That episode had flat comedy and fell apart toward the ending. "Turban Cowboy" is a great example because it shows fresh comedy towards the beginning and fall right of a cliff into flat comedy.

Season 10: Shows jokes that are understandable but fall flat.

Season 11: Many episodes start well, but lack of relative comedy allows ending of episodes to fall apart.

(I have fallen asleep on plenty of Season 11 episodes including the season premier)

    This is just my opinion....moreless
  • Family Guy's So Bloody Addictive

    9.0
I totally agree with all of what "therealdeal" has said. I'm sick of people moaning that the only Family Guy seasons that were good were 1-3. Sure, season 3 upwards - the shows were awesome. But season 1 and 2? Please, its obvious why the show was cancelled. The episodes are boring and the characters are under-developed, but I'm not saying that they should never have been made. In fact, I think it's more interesting now to see how far the characters have come. Stewie is good as an evil baby, but when he was just evil it was a bit dull. I, like "therealdeal" also enjoy hearing Seth voice his opinions through Brian. Why is everyone complaining so much? He created the character and has the right to do as he wishes. Many have also complained about Quagmire's transformation into an upright bitchy snob. Well, just like Stewie and Brian, the character had to go somewhere. Yes, I think they could do with bringing back the more cheery and perky Quagmire we all loved. However, I think he's become a lot cooler and sly with the ladies, which is good development for his character. I do have a bit of a problem with Peter. He's become downright idiotic with far less compassion or feeling. Lois is becoming increasingly irritating. All she does is nag now. I want the cool karate-fighting Lois back.

I'll be honest. Sometimes the shows fall flat. Sometimes there are jokes which are just rude or gags I just don't get. But this show is soooooo addictive. I think it's something to do with the rich variety of characters. I was thinking about this as I was staring at my giant Maxi Family Guy poster on my wall...moreless
