  • One of the best episodes in this season, but one scene ruined the 10 score.

    9.0
    "Superb"
Peter needs a new kidney after his energy-drink addiction causes renal failure. Meanwhile, Chris is chosen to introduce United States President Barack Obama at his school after winning an essay contest. Only thing is, Meg actually wrote the essay. This episode has a lot of humor. The cutaway where Brian/the neighbors' dogs joke was the best one this episode. It was funny when Peter acted after drinking Red Bull (escipally when he shakes Stewie). Chris running around on fire was probably the best scene in this episode. The best quote was Dr. Hartman saying "That car's getting towed." As for the other plot, it was pretty entertaining than funny. However, there's a scene that ruined the 10 score for me: Stewie! I can't believe he still has that gay obsession with Brian. The running nose is gross. I want the old Stewie back, not this annoying gay Stewie. If Stewie didn't hear the news about Brian being killed, I would had given this a 10. Other than the unneed Stewie being gay New Kidney in Town was such a good episode. There were no overusing violence, expect the spinning wheel part. 9/10
  • Emotional episode but it's not the best "Family Guy" episode I've ever seen

    7.0
    "Good"
I thought that this was overall a good episode but I didn't think that it was great. The cutaway in the beginning of the episode with Brian talking to the other dog while Peter is awake was hilarious. Peter drinking Red Bull and then goes super crazy and hyper was also hilarious. Peter milking a cow while was hyper was very funny. The flower turning to life and then jacks a car and drives away was also hilarious. The first 8 minutes was hilarious and made me laugh hard and then there were no more funny moments and then everything got all emotional which I like but this episode isn't what I would call my favorite. Brian is willing to donate his kidney to Peter but then the doctor said that since Brian is a dog, Brian would need to donate both of his kidneys which means that Brian could die. It was very emotional when Brian told Peter that he wanted to return the favor by donating both of his kidneys and die, then Peter says that the both of them had good years together and then they hugged... that scene almost made me cry actually. Brian also giving his last words to Meg, Chris, and Lois was emotional while he didn't want Stewie to know because he is a baby but Stewie heard them and was upset. Oh my gosh!!! but that disgusting and unneeded scene that made my score pretty low was Stewie crying and having boogers all over his face and hugging Brian while he has boogers all over his face... that was a totally disgusting and unneeded scene. It turns out the doctor's kidney matches Peter's kidney so he is willing to donate one of his kidneys which means Brian will live which made the episode happy. The ending with President Obama playing his guitar on stage at the end of this episode wasn't unnecessary and that also made my score a little low as well. Overall, a good emotional episode of "Family Guy" but it's not my favorite. 7/10
  • Hilarious the first half, ruined by the second half.

the second half was way too dramatic

  • an episode that proves that family guy DOES have a heart

    10
    "Perfect"

Exhausted from Brian keeping him awake at night, Peter is introduced to Red Bull by the guys. Completely wired, Peter looses all control forcing Lois to pour out all of the drink. Determined to make his own Red Bull, Peter poisons himself on kerosene and destroys his kidney's forcing himself to undergo dialysis. After Peter blows off a treatment to watch Charles in Charge and passes out, the family becomes even more concerned about getting Peter a transplant. It turns out the only possible kidney donation can come from Brian but the procedure will kill him. Determined to make up to Peter for taking him, Brian agrees to the kidney transplant. Brian fails to keep the secret from Stewie and is kidnapped but manages to talk Stewie into letting him go. As they prepare for surgery, Dr. Hartman arrives prepared to undergo the transplant operation; It turns out he is a match for Peter and doesn't want to lose a Griffin as they are his only patients.

Meanwhile, Chris struggles to write an essay on "Hope" for English class for President Obama's arrival. Meg gives an inspiring speech on her interpretation of hope and Chris copies it to win the essay contest. Meg is furious that Chris won with her speech and no one will believe that it was hers. Overjoyed that their dad and Brian are both saved, they agree to present the essay to President Obama together.

Now this was prob one of the best episodes ive seen of family guy for a lil while. it was SO funny yet so sweet. now we all know family guy they put some heart then they cut it up with a joke XD and a few times its funny a few times its not but seth and the rest did a great job with this episode and i recomment this episode to EVERYONE

this episode (like dog-gone) proves why i love brian

  • Finally, an episode worth laughing, and with a profound meaning in the end!

    9.0
    "Superb"
This was probably the most entertaining episode of the season, so far. Chris and Meg fighting over who presents an essay to President Obama was kind of all right.

What truly made me laugh was Peter and his discovery of Red Bull, specially the "Kerosene is fuel. Red Bull is fuel, so, Kerosene is Red Bull" logic.

What he didn't plan (planning is not his strong suit) was that drinking the "homemade Red Bull" gave him total renal failure. I laugh a lot, and I have total renal failure, also undergo dialysis three times a week. NOT from drinking Red Bull, though!

    (Some "indirect" spoilers below)

I'm sure many other people with kidney failure who saw this episode, had the reaction I did. And in the end, what Brian and the Doctor did was what so many people out there in the world needs; people making the decision to donate their organs. It is difficult for the family of the deceased, but saving the lives of at least 6 or 8 people is certainly a good way to give death a charitable meaning.
  • This was both funny and emontinal at the same time.

    "Superb"
I really enjoyed this episode. It was different from the other episodes on this show. I almost cried at the part where Brian voulnteers to give Peter both of his kidneys even though it will kill him. I never thought I'd feel so emotional over an episode of Family Guy. Of course I knew that Brian wasn't going to die, I mean he's one of the main characters, but it was still sad to see him saying goodbye to the family that took care of him. I also liked the parts where Peter is hyped up on Red Bulls and moving and talking fast, that was hilarious.
  • This episode almost made me want to cry...too bad Quagmire didn't see this!

    10
    "Perfect"
First off...this is one of the few reasons why I can't stand Quagmire! He hasn't lent his organs to anyone...but Brian did!

Next, this episode proves that Peter is stupid when he makes his own Red Bull. Then Peter becomes stupider when he decides to watch "Charles in Charge" rather than get his body flushed because he blew his kidneys. Brian may be Left-winged, but knows where he stands. Brian may not have a successful lady, but he can raise a child. Brian may have flunked twice at an Ivy League School, but he DID get into one. Brian may have been a burden to the Griffins, but he returns the favor by taking care of them too! I just wish Brian doesn't get shafted that much.

Speaking of what, Meg does have some respect on this episode with Barack Obama dressed as Elvis, which I thought was funny.
  • The best in this season but still terrible

    3.0
    "Bad"
As a huge fan of FG seasons 1-5 I really hate it since season 6, and s 8 and 9 are just... well, there's no word bad enough to describe it.

This episode gave me more laughs than usual episode of terrible season 9 - doctor Hartman was almost similar to dr Hartman we all know and love, Stewie was more of a Stewie (and finally no homosexual remarks) but...

Joke with Stewie's skeet hanging from his nose... it's hard for me to even call it a joke. What the hell is all the drama for? Peter is supposed to be Peter - retarded guy that is doing stupid things, not a man who cries and takes life seriously. And all the jokes... here in Poland we call that kind of jokes "suchary" - something that is supposed to be funny but it's not. I still believe someone from the staff will finally play some episodes of FG from seasons 1-5 and say to himself: "What a great show it WAS - let's go back!"
  • Sad attempt to manipulate my emotions

    "Terrible"
This was.... stupid!! I don't know why I gave family guy some leeway, I had some hope. But the rug was pulled right under me. The christmas adaption was good and so was the star wars adaptation. But this was stupid. I heard the reaction to this episode was for some strange reason POSITIVE, because it was HEARTFELT. This crap was from the same reviewers who say Disney movies who have the same message are corny! Family Guy did the same thing, but its family guy, and we didn't expect that from Family Guy. Wow! I hate this so much. I see family guy fans are still gun-ho about this show despite its obvious decline. But whatever, I'm just the minority, theres nothing I can do to fight ignorance.
  • Know who you are (beware of spoilers)

    5.0
    "Mediocre"
Another poor episode? Let's take a look:

The introduction is good – we have Peter jacked up on RedBull, and these scenes are really funny. This sets the tone for the episode and creates certain expectations. Which are crushed mercilessly when the tone changes in two steps to dead serious. This now makes the whole introduction pointless – why start a serious episode with such a funny introduction? This is not how counterpoints work.

So here is the actual introduction: Peter drinks kerosene (even though Brian warns him) and destroys his kidney. So naturally Brian decides to give up his life for Peter who is not in any immediate danger and who will probably just kill himself anyway soon enough. D'uh.

The rest of the episode deals with Brian saying goodbye to the family. Now, the family members have all long been established as blanks. They do not stand for any values, they do not have any distinctive character traits other than the most basic ones. They were created that way on purpose – it allows the writes to use them in whatever way they want.

But that comes at a prize: it is impossible to create meaningful deep moments between these characters, like you can do with The Simpsons. Therefore, this episode had to make fun of such scenes, but it fails at the attempt. The whole part is just boring.

All in all a weak episode.
  • A touching and funny episode which made me like Brian even more.

    9.0
    "Superb"
This episode was great. I loved it so much. When Peter was talking about how Brian and the neighbors dogs were keeping him up all night was very funny. Meg got a decent amount of time in the episode which I enjoyed. I though it was very touching how Brian was willing to sacrifice himself to save Peter. Whe Peter and Brian were hugging and crying I was crying. I'm glad every thing worked out for the better. This episode is now one of my favorites. As for Quagmire he can go to hell. Brian has shone more loyalty to that family over the years than Quagmire has had sex.
  • Peter needs A Kidney, Brian volunteers.

    7.0
    "Good"
As Season 9 enters 2011 we have had few really good episodes this season...maybe two. (halloween and Brian Writes a Best Seller). This week was a departure and continues in the light of the

Brian and Stewie (locked in the vault) episode in terms of emotional involvement. while it Was emotionally interesting it was not all that FUNNY.

It also made reference to "red bull" as something

Peter never heard of..but way back in the first season Peter made reference to Lois "Put down your red bulls and come out here". So again, the continuity of this show is out the window at the expense of a joke. Worse, I suspect the whole

point of Peter drinking Kerosene is a reference

to the infamous Bugs Bunny Cartoon in which

Daffy gets no laughs until he mixes up

a drink of Nitroglycerin, Gasoline, and Uranium

(Show Biz Bugs). That cartoon was edited for

television due to the real possibilty of kids

killing themselves (although no known case

has ever surfaced it was still cut down

in most airings to exclude Daffy pouring

the gasoline or Kerosine). I would also say it was a subtle point to the makers of Red bull that promoting

a product full of caffeine is like drinking

poison. In any case I thought it was

    irresponsible television because

Peter didn't learn anything from his

near death experience and the stunt

was done for the usual (ho hum already)

"shock value". I give the episodea 7 because

i like BRIAN and I like the emotional

turmoil but all in all it was not

very funny and it was not very

responsible. This HAS to be the worst Season ever.
  • Better Than Some of the other episodes this season.

    8.0
    "Great"
It was pretty good: Peter suffering from kidney failure and Brain offering to give his, Chris stealing Meg's speech on Hope. I loled when Stewie kidnapped Brain and told him that they were going to spend the rest of their lives living under the slide at the playground. Although this isn't one of the best episodes of Family Guy ever. The beginning was funny but the rest was just so serious. But We've seen a lot crappier this season so 8/10 I guess.

You wanna know what I hate. I'm just getting back into the series again and all the episodes have been not so great. I Mean: And Then There Were Fewer was good. Halloween on Spooner Street was Great. Road to the North Pole was Ok for a Christmas special. But all the rest Meh...
  • Peter: AND I FEEL....LIKE I JUST GOT HOME! AND I FEEL...LIKE I JUST GO HOOOOME AND I FEEL......

    10
    "Perfect"
So at the Drunken Clam, Peter tells his firends how he is very sleepy and he tries Redbull. He goes all hyper, and does everythign really fasy (Chris tries to masturbate and his penis burns). Then Lois takes away his redbull, and he tires to make his own....with kerosene. He collapses right there.

So then, Dr. Hartman tells htem he needs a kidney transplant. Brian offers to do it, but that would mean he would die cause Peter owld need his 2 kidneys. So one day, Peter misses his treatment to watch Charles in CHarge & turns yellow (with a simpsons reference: I can go on for 20 more years!). So Stewie overhears what Brian will do and kidnaps him. But when Brian tells him he can0't live without his dad, he lets him go, sad.

So, the day of the trnasplant comes and Dr. Hartman revelas e just realizes he is a match too, and will give up one kidney (cause that are his only regular patients). There was also this subplot with Obama coming to town & Chris writing down what Meg thinks of hope and taking all credit. But than they read it together.

Overall: Maybe I'm still biased by how gopod it was comapred to normal episodes, but I'll still give it a 10. Great comedy (Hey! That car's getting towed!).
  • great

    "Great"
Peter needs a kidney transplant and it turns out Brian can do it. But, it would mean the death of Brian. Will Brian be willing to give up his own life for his best friend? Meanwhile Chris writes an essay because Obama is visiting, but Meg is mad that he stole it from her.

Good episode. Emotional episode. The Obama plot bored me but the main plot was great. Even though it was pretty obvious Brian wasn't going to die, I still think it was pretty sad and emotional, with some funny parts. The only downside was the sub plot, but the rest was pretty good. Final grade- B+
  • A very heart-warming episode that truley made me smile.

    9.5
    "Superb"
This season of Family Guy has rocked so fare. New Kidney in town was just more icing on the cake.

When Peter took that first sip of Redbull and started singing was very funny. Brian was once again the voice of reason warning Peter about making his own Redbull after Lois threw out all of his. When Peter needed a new kidney Brian was willing to give his even though it would kill him. Now thats a loyal dog. Brian was in a way a hero. I'm glad Dr. Heartmen steped in and was willing to donate one of his. I would have hated it if they killed of Brian.

    "Good"
Family Guy returned here tonight, and you know what? I actually enjoyed the episode. The ending with Barack Obama using the high school appearance to sing was nothing short of bizarre and not needed at all, but there was actually a good story here, a nice emotional storyline. I was not about to cry, but the fact that an over the top cartoon like Family Guy could pull off something like that does impress me.

This was not that funny an episode, doubt if there was even a real laugh here, but I'm impressed by what Seth MacFarlane did today. Actually, the thing with the dogs talking at night was funny, but that's it.
  • Not a classic, but Finally A good episode...

    "Good"
I was impressed with this episode, It had allot of elements that made the classics in seasons 1-3 so good.

    -Less cutaways

    -Emotional/funny plot

    -character development

Not quite a classic, but this is about the quality i still expect from a show that has been on for so many seasons...

Seems like the show is improving a bit

I also enjoyed Excellence in Broadcasting

    and

    And Then There were Fewer

One of the reasons this episode was an improvement was most likely do to the fact it was written by fresh writers.

I disagree with the above post, that Seth Macfarlane deserves all the credit.

This episode was not written by him keep in mind.

Peter becomes addcited to red bull, and it makes him extremely hyper and crazy. Lois takes his red bull away, so he makes his own, but he gives him kidney failure. He needs a kidney transplant, and Brian matches up to him. Brian has two kidneys, and, Peter needs two. The operation would kill him. Brian says that Peter saved his life, and it's his turn to return the favor. He'd spare his 8 years left, so Peter could have another 40. On the day of the surgery, Dr. Hartman gives Peter his kidney, so Brian can live.

This was a great episode. It had some great emotion, and its one of the few episodes to have that.
