A very funny episode, the resteraunt plot was very original

I thought that this was a superb episode of "Family Guy". It would have been considered my favorite episode if it weren't for two things. The scene with Peter and Lois watching a long theme song was literally time filling and waste of time for me. It took almost 2 minutes long and it was the longest two minutes of my life, it was that time filling and really that boring. The second and last thing I didn't like was how Peter treated Joe and the other handicapped people towards the end of the episode. I just thought Peter was being a jerk to Joe just because he and the other people are handicapped. I did love the restaurant plot for this episode it was well executed for the most part. Though, Seth MacFarlane could have come up with something funnier instead of wasting 2 minutes of boredom with Peter and Lois watching the long theme song. I laughed very hard at the Mexican Superman and Mexican Batman cutaway. The Ben Stiller cutaway was hilarious especially when Ben Stiller flies away with his gigantic ears and then Peter says "His movies are terrible". It was also hilarious when Joe and the other handicapped people formed together to become a Transformer (well, at least it was a reference to "Transformers"). I also liked Peter apologizing to Joe at the end of the episode when Peter realized how hard being handicapped was. Stewie being the chef for the restaurant was also funny. Who knew that a baby can cook? LOL. Anyways, I enjoyed this episode for the most part and was pretty funny for the most part. Overall, a superb episode of "Family Guy". 9/10
  • This episode struck a very emotional cord with me.

As a former student of a high school for the disabled, this episode of Family Guy struck a very personal cord in me. It showed me the same discrimination my old haddicaped classmates constantly have to go through. After Peter insensitively bans Joe Sawnson and his disabled friends from his restaurant, karma left him temporarly crippled as well, and he then knew what it is like to be disabled. One of my favorite scenes in that episode is when he angrly chased Meg for accidently spilling water on him, and he can't go up the stairs where she fled because of his wheelchair. For once, Meg has the last laugh on him for the lousy way he treats her.
  • Pretty Good, but it's a little off

In this episode, Peter ruins his suit to stop Mort from coming to borrow their stuff, so Lois takes him to buy a new suit, and he buys... actually just watch the episode, you'll get it easier. This episode was pretty good, far better than "Peter and Bill's Bogus Journey", but there are some flaws here. First of all, there were enough plot twists here to fill up more than 1 episode, and it felt awkward on how it started with Mort and ended with Joe. The Crippletron was random, crazy, and funny, which means it was totally Family Guy material. The only other problem I found with this episode was with the cutaways, which felt odd, especially the Ben Stiller one, which was way too weird for Family Guy even. Overall, it's good, but it could've been better. 8/10 B
  • A poor episode, I expect better than this of Family Guy

This season, the writers have been on hot and cold streaks. Right now, they are on a very cold streak.

By the standards of some shows, this wouldn't have been a bad effort, however this isn't some shows, this is Family Guy, and I expect more from the people who gave us Peter's Two Dads, To Live and Die In Dixie, Patriot Games etc.

This episode started promisingly, with Peter's discovery of static electricity, however from there it just fell flat.

The jokes about Joe and the paraplegics were lame and unfunny, and a real opportunity missed to make some real sadistic jokes. There wasn't much left to laugh at anywhere else either, though Quagmire was his usual funny self in his cameo.

Overall, not the worst ever Family Guy episode, but one of the worst. Using my theory of streaks, the next episode (Boys Do Cry) should be a good one. I hope I'm right.
  • What are all these parallelograms doing here?

    2.7
    "Terrible"
It's hard to believe that the show that brought classic episodes like Wasted Talent and Death is a B!tch is the same series that brings an episode like this on to the small screen.

While I want the show to revert back to its old style, it does not mean that I want it to repeat plots and Peter's prejudice against cripples was already covered in season one and in a much funnier way too.

While I'm all for Family Guy randomness since that is what the show is about, the random events should never affect the plot, such as the raccoon in To Love and Die in Dixie and the now old evil monkey. Those events never changed the plot in any way, they were just stupid moments that wouldn't generally happen in real life. But the crippletron in this episode actually causing Peter's injury was a ridiculous move, and even if it hadn't, it's still too absurd and stupid for Family Guy.

Peter discovering static electricity was also a stupid start to the episode, because much like Stewie's "mummy, mum, Lois" rant from Stewie Loves Lois, just because it happens in real life, doesn't mean if you copy and cartoonise the event, it doesn't become funny, it's just an everyday occurence that a lot of people do anyway.

Overall, the only moment in this episode that I was close to laughing at was the end when Peter learns his lesson after 45 minutes of being handicapped but the rest of this episode was ridiculous, especially since Peter seemed to forget what he learnt in "A hero lives next door".

Well, this episode takes us into Peter's whacky idea to own a restaurant. However, he bans those who can't walk from his restaurant once it has become the local hangout place for the Quahog's disabled.

I really enjoyed parts of this episode, but as a whole, it wasn't the best. The wheelchair monster that was formed by all the town's disabled was out of this world and a truly great idea!

Absolutely love this show, and if I rate an episode 8.5 like I rated this one, that means it's an average episode, because all the rest are unbelievably good.

An OK episode, but in the end, I've seen better.
  • Awesome episode

This is probably the most inspiring episodes of Family Guy to date -- well of those I've seen of course.

So, pretty much, the Griffins open up a restaraunt and this causes laughter for us as the audience to watch Joe and Peter fight about being cool against crippled. The whole shocking the family members thing with Peter's electricity was hilarious. The Ben Stiller part was absolutely epic! Especially when he came back but before when Peter said "His movies are terrible...".

Upon opening the restaurant, Brian informs everybody that thy're struggling with money so Joe decided to bring along his un-cool crippled friends to join, but like we thought, Peter was unhappy about this arrangement. The naked big, fat woman photo shoot scene was disgusting and unoriginal. Though, this episode did contain my favorite ever Family Guy scene:

"Going up the stairs and going down the stairs, and going up the stairs and going down the stairs... And going up the SIDEWAY stairs!" lol, it was absolutely hilarious. I could go on but this episode almost contains the fullest of everything great. Too hilarious, too uncensored, too good a show, too rude lol, that's what makes it Family Guy, this is a brilliant show and it seems to just get better.

    Goodbye Ben Stiller for sure.

Overall, this was truly an outstanding Family Guy episode! Epic...
  • One of my favorite episodes in the whole season probably number 1 or 2.

Peter is annoyed by Mort constantly borrowing his things, so he makes a "Scare-jew" out of his best suit, which is actually a scarecrow modeled after Adolf Hitler Frustrated, Lois takes him to a secondhand clothing store to get a new suit, where Peter finds some flannel pajamas. While wearing them, he begins to notice that he can shock people with static electricity by rubbing his feet on the carpet. Annoyed by this, Lois has the carpet completely removed. When this is done Quagmire finds an old coin under the carpet, which is sold for fifty thousand dollars (the carpets later return). With the money, Peter and Lois decide to live their dream of owning their own restaurant, naming it "Big Pete's House of Munch". The restaurant at first is a complete failure; however, Joe promises to bring his friends. Peter is at first excited because he believes it will become a hang out for police officers, only to find that Joe is actually bringing in fellow paraplegics. The restaurant becomes a huge success among handicapped people; however, Peter is convinced handicapped people are "uncool" (citing Mark Harmon as "the greatest actor who ever lived" and as he is not handicapped, that makes it uncool to be) and he bans them from entering. The handicapped people come back and demand access, but are promptly denied. In response, they unite into "CrippleTron" (a giant robot reminiscent of Voltron) and destroy the restaurant while Peter, Chris and Stewie are on the roof. Stewie eventually takes matters into his own hands and defeats the cripples, but they accidentally knock down rubble which fall on Peter, breaking his legs. He is wheelchair bound for two weeks, though it takes forty-five minutes for Peter to realize the difficulty of being handicapped and he apologizes to Joe.

  • Boy I haven't seen a story this underdeveloped since my second grade class's production of 'The Mitten'

    5.0
    "Mediocre"
Well it was better the the previous episode. That is one of the few nice things to say about the newest Family Guy episode "No Meals On Wheels". The episode starts with the family going to by a replacement suit for Peter. Of course Peter in all his childish anti-glory ends up getting footed pajamas because it makes him feel like a bear which he apparently always wanted to experience. Peter then sees that thanks to the pajamas and the static electricity of the carpet he can shock people and does he ever, to a point of nausea. It was almost funny after the first shock but it got old pretty fast. Naturally the family gets rid of the carpet(for some reason Peter stops wearing his suit even though he first wore the suit because of the bearness). The family then finds a coin worth alot of money with which they open a restaurant. The episode could have used a scene showing the building of the restaurant because the transition between Lois(Louis for some of you guys) and Peter deciding on the restaurant and the restaurant being opened felt very rushed. Big Pete's House of Munch however is failing(even though the restaurant was shown full in previous scenes), so Joe gets all his handicapped buddies to start going to BPHM. Peter doesnt like what BPHM has become so he bans Joe's friends from his restaurant(ironically Joe and company gave up on their old handout because of too many Puerto Ricans). Joe and his friends join together to a giant robot(Crippletron) similar to Devastator from Transformers or Voltron from Voltron in order to retaliate against Peter. Crippletron was certainly imaginative but the whole scene felt gimmicky and overdone with Stewie finishing Crippletron as the icing on the fan-service cake. Peter himself becames handicapped briefly and learns his lesson (again). The large amount of cutaways and having a long subplot of Peter's PJs hurt the plot but it actually felt like a plot this time, with a beginning, a conflict and a resolution as opposed to the loosely connected scenes that formed the 'plots' of other recent episodes. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------The jokes were once again hit and miss. The ScareJew joke was funny and shocking, as was Quagmire cutting up the carpet. The mexican Superfriends wasnt funny, neither were the Ben Stiller jokes. The 'Maude' theme song was pointless and annoying (you just know the writers are running out of ideas when they start ragging on mildly popular shows from the 70's that no one and their mother remember). "Take that TV theme song writers", I wonder who's going to be next, the set designer for the Urkel show(AKA 'Family Matters') or maybe the prop guy from 'Xena'. Frankly those two would probably be better ideas for jokes as people actually remember Urkel and Xena. Of course racism was again explored with the OJ Simpson joke. Another mediocre day at the joke shop.

Overall the episode had an actual plot for once even though it was wholly underdeveloped and there were some funnies despite quite a few roll-your-eyes moments.

laughed so hard. i love the footy pajamas. if you didnt laugh out loud then family is so not your show. the scarejew was hilarious. a bit racist, but so is most of family guy. I cannot wait to catch up on the other episodes. I absolutely loved when he was hiding in the bathroom, but made lois think he was in the hut or newspaper stand. i had to call my brother on this one i was lauging so hard. hahahh when he walks around and shuffles his feet so he can get static built up i almost cried b/c i was laughing so hard.
  • A funny episode, but really - the plots of the new episodes just keep getting worse and worse! Perhaps the show really is being written by manities!

    4.4
    "Poor"
Whilst this was a funny episode in parts, I am disgusted about how crap the writing of the storylines have become recently. Lets break it down:

    1. Peter has an issue with Mort borrowing things

    2. Peter needs a new suit

    3. Peter thinks he is christ because he can shock people

    4. The family find and old coint worth $50,000

    5. The family open a restaurant

    6. Joe's cripple friends start coming to the restaurant and Peter gets upset because his restaurant isn't cool anymore

    7. Peter becomes a cripple for two weeks

Now, if you ask me, I can see plot lines for 6 or 7 episodes squeezed into the one episode. And badly at that. A show like Seinfeld could EASILY do a whole episode based on one of these plots. In fact, Family Guy used to! Number 1. = The epsiode where Joe comes to Spooner Street. There we have a great episode!

These days, the plot is so disconnected and irrelevant I really am starting to lose interest.
  • I enjoyed this episode, and it made me a bit more open-minded regarding Family Guy.

    "Great"
I normally don't like Family Guy. Not because it has profanity and such (I watch shows like "Heroes" and "South Park" and "Studio 60" and such, so ha!). I just used to not like the show because it seemed too "random" with its numerous side jokes that interfere with the plot. That I learned from watching the South Park episodes "Cartoon Wars" (parts 1 and 2) that parodied the controversy over the Muhammad cartoons in Denmark. However, on the day this episode aired, I was bored that night, so I tuned into this episode because according to the online TV listings the plot seemed interesting. It was funny to see how incompetent Peter Griffin and family were to have their restaurant appeal only to the disabled, which Peter didn't like, even though one of his own friends was on a wheelchair. My favorite parts of the episode were when all the disabled people build a "giant wheelchair robot" to attack Peter, and when Ben Stiller "returns" to Peter, following a Stiller reference earlier. After this episode, I'm looking forward to watching another FG episode that made fun of the disabled, "Ready, Willing, and Disabled", as well as any other interesting FG episodes. Sorry about the first paragraph; it was just my own opinion.

the episode had me laughing the whole way through. when peter gets the pajamas with the whole for his ass were great and when he pulled it open in meg's face. then when he figured out that rubbing his feet on the carpet make him shock people and he shocked meg when she was in bed. then a quagmire usual when lois asked him to pull up the carpet and he took it the wrong way. when peter tells joe and his friends they cant come in for food and they make the big monster out of all the wheel chairs makes no sense at all but its funny and we see a lot of this in family guy. first episode in a while that made me laugh a lot

is annoyed by Mort constantly borrowing his things, so he makes a "ScareJew" out of an old suit, which is actually his suit with a Nazi uniform on. Furious, Lois takes him to a secondhand clothing store to get a new suit, where Peter finds some flannel pajamas. This episode is very hilarious. I think that the writers and producers are getting more creative and obviously getting more humorous. ahhaha. One thing I noticed is Seth Green and Mila Kunis roles in this season is getting more unimportant, this is one thing to consider about. Everyone in the show should have equal screen time. But other than that, the episode is worthwhile to watch. this show is very damn suitable for the older audiences. I dig brian griffin the most, as he brings the funny to another level. lol. Kudos to Seth Macfarlane for creating this cartoon series!

The Griffins has decided to open a restaurant, and with help from Joe it became a hang out for the handicapped, not a hang out of the police as Peter has hoped. He even banned them from the restraunt until they united and attack the restraunt. One of the best scenes when Peter and Lois watched the opening of "Maude" when it had that theme miusic wheich is a few minutes long. I haven't heard that theme song in years. Matter of fact, I haven't saw a rerun of "Maude" in years. Matter of fact, I haven't saw a epiosde of "One Day at a Time" in years. I missed Bonnie Franklin.

In my opionin the funniest episode of the season. All the jokes are funny. This includes the long joke, i find in family guy they tend to run the long jokes for too long, but this one was brillient. Loved the M.C Escher sketch and even the main story line was amusing without being to insulting. A big thumbs up to the writers for a return to form with this episode, a lot better than most of this season. I thought Family Guy was going down hill but more episodes like this will definatly change my mind. Keep the great shows coming guys
  • Yet another funny episode of Family Guy

I really liked this episode, I was laughing my ass off all the way throught it.

Good storyline, at first I thought it would just evolve around the Peter in the suit thing, but then it lead to the main story, the nickel which made the family open up a restaurant..

Poor Peter, no business happening, only when he gets tons of customers...crippled customers...whom he dislikes in his restuarant. Stupid Peter. :)

To think disabled people couldn't do anything, they build a robot..of cripples, and take down Peter!

In th end, Peter learnt his lesson, and still thought the same of Joe. Grey's anatomy isn't that bad is it? Good episode, better than the last few, I'd give it a good 8.6
  • There have been some hit and miss episodes lately and I think this was a hit. (contains spoilers)

I really liked this episode, some of the references were good like the Rodney King Crab. The Voltron reference with the handicapp people, and Joe as the head. I just found it pretty funny and entertaining, especially since I really haven't been impressed with this show much in the past couple of months. I still think it kicks ass, it just has been lackluster. What is there deal with Grey's anatomy, they mentioned it on Family Guy, and on American Dad, just wondering. Why does Peter always end up naked? Why am I asking questions when nobody is going to answer? This was a decent episode and worth watching.
  • A solid plot but with some crazy twists, a bit better than "Bill and Peter's Bogus Journey."

    8.0
    "Great"
PROS - The jokes were actually funny. The America's Next Top Model joke was pretty random. Peter running around the house electrifying people was also funny. In addition, there was less time-filling parts to the episode. It felt like the writers put a little more effort into this episode. Also, there were less pointless flashbacks.

CONS - The episode took a while for the plot to kick in. It had to start with Peter being Electric Man first and then slowly leading to the main purpose of the episode. It kind of made the episode confusing because I was wondering when Peter would open up the restaurant. However, when he finally did and the main plot kicked in, I think it would be better if they sticked with Peter and his Electric Man escapades. The actual main plot didn't feel solid. It felt loose and ended pretty quickly. Having a restaurant filled with paraplegics is creative but how it was written wasn't that good. I mean, the handicaps forming Crippletron was just plain weird. That wasn't funny, just weird, especially when it shot wheelchairs at Peter. It may have a couple of chuckles but it's not hilarious. Peter then ending up being cripple and being laughed at was pretty funny, especially when he cried. Then again, the plot didn't feel overall funny, the added jokes were much better. Another thing I would like to point out, Herbert. He has been appearing in a lot of episodes currently, making him feel like a main character. Herbert is suppose to be a random and funny character, now he's just an added character, making him feel more perverted and boring. Another point, the singing. Yes, it felt like there was no singing but I saw it. The theme song counted and that was a time filler. It wasn't that funny, a waste of time. The Ben Stiller joke wasn't even funny with his big ears. And his second appearance didn't help.

CONCLUSION - Overall, this is a good episode. It has the potential to be one of those Family Guy classics but it still has a long way to go. Most of the jokes were nicely done and a couple of more flashbacks wouldn't hurt. The plot should have more effort into it and it shouldn't take ten minutes for the plot to appear. In other words, more solid plot, more jokes, and no more recycling characters (As in no more Herbert please).
