Peter starts an anti-immigration group; however, he quickly changes his mind when he finds out that he was born in Mexico. Unable to prove his citizenship, pass the naturalization test or convince investigators that his marriage to Lois is for real, he ends up working for Carter as a landscaper, all the while fighting for immigration rights.

The John McCain experience, Peter walking in on Lois watching the news about 9/11 and saying, "Bet it was a woman pilot, huh?", the guy who laughs at sarcasm, all Fox's successful sitcoms like That 70's Show, Peter as a maid, Carter Pewterschmidt, Peter saying Chinese Japanese dirty knees look at these, could you say whole speech again in Spanish and Rapid Dave.

Why did I list all those things? Because in old episodes you could never count all the funny jokes on your fingers. It was classic line after classic line, intelligent reference after intelligent reference. Now it's just racially offensive for the purpose of being racially offensive ad nothing else. There's fart jokes aplenty and American Dad has surpassed the show, leaving it in the dust. As usual in new episodes, the story digressed and then completely split into a second part. Instead of pursuing Peter as a true patriot we were "blessed" with Peter a true Mexican. They need to stop with the vomiting and the stupid prop humor. Prop humor is barely funny when it's in live action shows, but it's terrible in cartoons.

Haha, I loved this episode. The storyline was good and creative. Haha, Peter's mom wanted an abortion and he was born right there. LMAO when Peter comes down and crushes the kids... Then pukes and stuffs them under the bed. Haha, Seth MacFarlane is the best.
  • This is what Seth Macfarlane is so worked up about?! :?

I don't get it, I honestly can't. This episode of "Family Guy" is just like all the others, funny, irrelevant, silly, creative, and hilarious! If the Writer's Guild of America wanted to strike why didn't they do it in 2003-2004 when "Family Guy" actually Wasn't on the air and resolve their differences then? The sooner they get it resolved, the sooner Seth Macfarlane can stop acting like this episode was a crime against humanity and get back to his job. Peter has to state his views against immigrants, illegal or otherwise, and that involves opening his big mouth and having his words coming back to bite him; Hard! Not only was he Not born in the U.S.A., his mother never made him a naturalized citizen, and boy does that make things hard for Peter! If Peter had a dollar for every mistake he made that backfired on him, he'd be a billionaire! But he doesn't, and he ends up having to work for a Real billionaire, his father-in-law who relishes the opportunity of being to legally make his son-in-law's life like if Peter's life was like living in a living nightmare! But Peter and the other immigrants aren't going to take it laying down, they decide to storm the Pewterschmidt Mansion and give Lois' Father some well deserved comeuppance! But Mr. Pewterschmidt comes out well-prepared by proving that he didn't get to be a billionaire by being stupid, he offers Peter the opportunity to make his illegal immigrant status all go away by giving him naturalized status with one phone call. And even though Peter initially refuses to do so without the deal of having the other immigrants in on the deal, they all give him their okay saying that it's all right if it's only him that becomes a U.S. citizen, they are where they are and they're fine with that. So even though Peter didn't get to have some otherwise well-meaning Mexican immigrants become citizens like he has, at least he learned all immigrants aren't bad, in fact they built our country! Enough said, true believers! ;)

If you want to see a good episode, then dont bother watching this one.

Wow. This episode was terrible, just terrible. The Mary Poppins scene was just, too far, it was just completely and TOTALLY disgusting. I just nearly puked right there. And the writers need to decide what the hell Peter is. Is he black? Is he Irish? And NOW he was born in MEXICO?! For the love of god! No offense to any fans of the episode, though. I just really didn't like it.

In this episode, Peter becomes a super-American Patriot after attending the city parade, and then proceeds to do stupid things "for his country" including sacrificing a goat to Toby Keith. Then, after convicing his boss to do a background check, Peter goes to get his birth Certificate from his mom, only to find out that he was actually born in Mexico. Then, after failing the immigration tests, and performing several odd jobs for a living, Lois gets her dad to hire Peter. After living around the mexican immigrants at Carter's house, Peter demands that they all get citizenship, but then only peter gets, then things are back to normal.

Good: Not horrible storyline, Jokes within the plot worked well, Doesn't go into too many random gags.

Bad: Random Gags don't work at all in this episode, The flashback with Peter as a mary poppins-esque nanny is extremely gross, and unfunny.

Overall: Not a horrible episode as there are a fair amount of laughs, but I think they waited through the strike before presenting this episode, as it would have better i'm sure. Final Score: 7.5/10
  • As much as I hate to admit it, Family Guy is going down...and fast.

    "Terrible"
At first I thought well okay this could just be a bad episode. But I was wrong. This episode is the beggining of the end of Family Guy. Every episode since this one has been terrible (Peter's Daughter wasn't THAT bad though). I hopoe to god it has something to do with the absence of Seth. Every episode before the strike was good and at least medicore. Now it seems like a bunch of 6th graders got together and threw in a bunch of really bad jokes. There was like one or two parts I could laugh at. I don't like the storyline at all either. First, Peter was black. Then he was Irish. Now he's Mexican? How many races can one guy possibly be? Hopefully soon the writers will come to their senses and make a better effort on this.
  • What? Why was this episode even created?

    7.0
    "Good"
Okay, okay, I admit, it's not as bad as everyone says it is. But, it still is pretty bad. The writers could have cooked up something better than this. I mean seriously, I wouldn'twant to watch this episode even three times when, if I have the DVD, I watch them over and over again. This is one episode I'm gonna ignore when Volume 6 comes out.

The beginning, at the parade, was pretty good. That made me laugh, but then it got worse and worse and worse... you get the point. If they kept the quality steady from when it was in the beginning, this episode would be really good. BUt, sadly, it went downhill.

The Griffins attend a Veteran's Day parade where, after listening to Herbert sing "God Bless the USA," Peter realizes he is proud of his American citizenship. He begins showing off his patriotism everywhere he goes, even going as far as buying a suit themed after the American flag. He also becomes frustrated with the presence of illegal immigrants, especially with the fact that they are taking away good jobs. Peter goes to great lengths to make Quahog immigrant-free, such as patrolling the town border and banning all non-American influences from his house (much to his family's chagrin). At the brewery, Peter convinces his supervisor to initiate an inspection, laying off any immigrants employed. After doing so, he goes to his mother Thelma's house for his birth certificate to prove his citizenship. However, Thelma tells Peter a startling secret: he was born not in America, but rather in Mexico!

  • There was a whole lot of problems with this episode that disappoint any die hard fan.

    3.0
    "Bad"
Okay, here are the reasons why this episode is one the worst episodes in Family Guy History.

First off, the writers based the plot on current events. Not only does that show that they lack imagination or originality, but there are only a few shows that can pull it off. When shows like South Park do this, they make fun of the situation itself, while Family Guy, being a liberal show, just take a side. They started off Peter being a stereotypical conservative. Lately, Family Guy has made about dozen shots at the Republicans and hardly touching the Democrats. Also, the episode is a lot like in 'Boys Do Cry,' where the writers reuse an old episode but change slightly to suit their needs. In this episode, they use the plot from 'Peter Griffin: Husband, father... Brother?' in which Peter discovers that he's African American, while in this episode: he's a Mexican immigrant.

Second, the writers tried to respect Mexican immigrants but just used a lot of stereotype jokes. So far, the only thing you know about Mexican culture is Ball in a Cup and that they have a holiday called 'Cinco De Mayo', the writers leave it at that. And nothing is really learned from this adventure.

Third: The logic of plot is impossible to believe. Just because Peter was born in Mexico and his mother didn't sign his birth papers, it really doesn't make Peter an Illegal immigrant from Mexico, it should make him an illegal Irish Immigrant from what we learned in 'Peter's Two Dads.' Also, when you think about it, the blame should be on Peter's mom for Peter's troubles in this episode, not the government like the writers intended.

And finally, the fourth problem in this episode is the jokes. Most of the jokes used here were either stale, stupid, or just in bad taste. The Mary Poppins scene would have been better without blood and puke. While the Prymiad and Maid scenes were long and dull. Lately, the writers have being using shock-value jokes that grosses out the audience instead of using jokes with real wit or any 'ZING' to them.

Overall, this episode had pretty much everything that makes any die hard fan hate.
  • So Peter starts to love America, so he goes to his boss, and says that she should fire any illegal immigrants that work at the brewery. Peter goes to his mom for his birth certificate, and finds out he was born in Mexico...

    "Great"
Wasn't my favorite episode of Family Guy, but it was pretty good with humor! The storyline was odd, though. Some funny parts of the episode were, the House Keeping part, where Peter was a maid, the Home of the Whopper, some of the other little jokes, the part at the end when Peter farts, and much more! I don't know why so many people gave this episode such a low and bad score. I thought it was very good. I also liked that guy that sang every time someone said something, that was really funny! I think this episode deserves good ratings, and the few people that gave this episode a bad score, that they should watch it again, and find good things about the episode!
  • No. Family Guy writers just tryed to be "Cool" Writing this. But, it turns out to be puke. And, I'm not talking about Peter.

    "Abysmal"
So, Herbert sings a song close to, "I'm proud to be an amercian", so that gets Peter thinking he should be a better american. But, his joy ends when, his mother tells him he was born in Mexico! Gasp! Mexican Peter! So, he gets new jobs. Like this one funny one where he desides to clean this motel room. I'm not telling you what he did in the room but, your going to have to watch the episode. Wait. Don't watch this episode! It's too bad! So, Peter chooses the job of being a slave, WORKER! to Mr. Pewtershmit and, Cinco De Mayo. The rest of the episode is a blur to me.

    Final Score: F-, 1
  • a racy but awkward episode

    7.5
    "Good"
After the exciting two-part 100th episode special, it felt almost right to take a small break and wind down with a less intense episode. It still is the racy Family Guy, with Peter figuring out he was born in Mexico and technically isn't considered an American citizen yet. I can imagine this episode made people a little bit uncomfortable, upset, even offended. But Family Guy doesn't shy away from the hard issues, they love to bring it up and then shove it in your face. Being comfortable is what Family Guy has never tried to achieve. And you have to at least give credit that they brought up such a difficult and controversial subject about the Mexican immigrants. However this episode does have flaws. For one, some jokes were a little too extreme, even for Family Guy. And Peter's original attitude about Mexican immigrants is almost so grossly uninformed, even though it's comedy, the offensive line are bound to be pushed. In the end, it does have a somewhat moral message about this issue. However, in the end, Peter still doesn't technically learn his lesson and the message doesn't come off quite sincere. Since Family Guy indiscrimately makes fun of everyone and everything possible, when they do pick a side on something of interest, it comes across as being insincere and awkward. And when they knew that they were going to pick a side, it felt like the writers try to cover up the favoritism with some of the grossly racy jokes. It's not horrible and I expected the episode to be a little slow after Stewie Kills Lois/Lois Kills Stewie. However, it's not the best Family Guy and for some, I guess, this time they took it a little too far.
  • Not the best episode

After hearing the National Anthem of the U.S he feels his proud to be an American and becomes all Patriotic. He starts an anti-immigration group in which he feels the Non-Americans are taking the rights away from U.S on by getting all the jobs.

Peter goes to see his mum and finds out that he was born in Mexico. Unable to prove that his an American, he has to pass the naturalization test or convince investigators that his marriage to Lois is for real. He fails so Lois is father ends up giving him a job, while working for him and his fellow Non-Americans he feels that they have been treated badly and deserve a Chance.

    "Good"
Mixed feeling on this episdoe on one hand it had a funny Peter centric storyline and showed jsut how far and excentric he can be.But on the other hand it seemed a bit predictable and a bit out of place. It seemed as though we'd seen it all before and had nothing different or fresh to offer just the same things Peter always does.I mean Mexican Iimmigrints and Peter as soon as you hear those words you hear comedy gold but you also hear cliche and predictabl and doesn't take alot of thought to come up with the epsidoe it was bound to happen sooner or later I mean what animation comedy hasn't ripped on Mexican Immigrints even American dad the show that is supppose to be in the shadow of Family guy Seth Macfarlens least favrate child beat Family Guy to it.All in all funny epsidoe but not much immagination or thoguh usaed on the storyline.
  • This episode wasn't bad, though it was gay to watch.

    4.9
    "Poor"
Let's start. The people went to far with this episode. when this episode airs, I always think about its Crude Humor I'd like to call "Crap Humor". To make it clear for you people, Crap Humor is when an episode contains really creepy humor that makes the episode bad, that's how I define it. If anyone thinks this episode's good, um... well I'm not sure what to say. Expect people to think you must like unoriginal stuff. When I first read this episode's summary, I was sure this episode would fail and I was like nooooo... when peter comes from mexico part. This episode is the first to recive a D rating and... this might be going downhill or not.
  • Racism, 9/11, abortion, AIDS, John McCain, cheap foregin labour. Topics that no - one will touch with a ten - foot pole but are exploited in this episode of Family Guy, does that make it a good episode. NO!

    3.0
    "Bad"
Following the Veteran's Day parade; Peter begins to act more patriotic which includes a tirade against illegal immigrants. But when Peter learns from his chain - smoking mother that he is legally a Mexican he loses his job and home and is forced to live as they do until suprise, suprise the day is saved and everything goes back to normal. (Believe me, it's not a spoiler if you can see it coming from a mile off). This episode has everything but the kitchen sink jammed into it which includes jabs at Star Wars, Mary Poppins, Jurassic Park, Fox and the show Pyramid. By the time you get to the cutaways like Peter using his job as a maid to get into a group sex session, Superman and the broken condom and a past nod at the "ball in a cup" gag that wasn't funny back in "The Fat Guy Strangler" and definitely wasn't funny this time, you find yourself checking the clock. At this point we know that Peter is part American part African and part Irish and now we learn he's also Mexican; it looks like we have a walking United Nations with about the same mass. It astounds me how Seth Macfarlane can be so flippant about 9/11 when he was a mix - up away from being one of the 3,000 victims. The show has had some huge improvements in the detail and richness of the animation especially in the 5th season but this episode lazily falls back on the standard drawing that was seen back in the earlier seasons. It seems while Seth Macfarlane was protesting with the Writer's Guild he also phoned in all of his lines as there's an obvious lack of passion and the script is so shoddily written even the voice actors don't sound too happy with it. This episode was shown although Macfarlane didn't want it to be because of the WGA strike and if the viewers had the choice we wouldn't want it shown either as it's a poor episode. We want our Family Guy back!
  • So, this episode was bad.

    6.0
    "Fair"
Well, Peter recently found out that he was an illegal immigrant. Earlier, he inexplicably became anti-immigration. So, he tries to get minimum wage jobs now that he got out of his original job. Okay, this episode was just bad. The writers have warped Peter's backstory now. This whole episode just seemed like a rant against anti-immigration. I'll try to be politically neutral when it comes to writing this review, So, it seemed unfair to the side against immigration to show Peter as one of them and Brian as the other side. Okay, for those who haven't watched Family Guy, Peter is just really fat, stupid, and gullible, so I can't help but think it was a little biased. Brian was rather smart and loveable back in the early seasons. The jokes didn't really make up for the rather boring storyline. I'm sorry, but Family Guy just seems to going downhill. If Seth MacFarlane probably gave more of his American Dad! input into Family Guy, it might help. But, I don't know. I hope that Family Guy can still try to make good episodes.

This episode is a new low for a very strong fan. The first three seasons were a lot better than they are now. This episode show a lot of hate for Hispanic and Latino people. A very unfunny and unentertaining episode. A very bad story line and shocking jokes. Also the fact that Peter becomes a racist patriot makes the episode suck even more. This episode sould have NEVER been put on the air. For most fans this will be another low for family guy, well, its a new low for me. This episode is not there biggest hit. My review = a bad episode.

After doing so, he goes to his mother Thelma's house for his birth certificate to prove his citizenship. However, Thelma tells Peter a startling secret: he was born not in America, but rather in Mexico.

She explains that after learning she had been impregnated by an Irish drunk, she went to Mexico to get an abortion; however, she was forced to wait until her Peter was born. As soon as he was, she immediately realized she loved him and took him home with her. Not wanting to risk exposing his existence while crossing the border back to America, she never filled out his citizenship papers; as such, Peter himself is an illegal Mexican immigrant.

Peter is subsequently unemployed and the family begins to fall into debt. Lois suggests that Peter try to take a naturalization test. He fails, however, and he and Lois are informed that their marriage, which has lasted for 20 years, may not even be legitimate.

After Peter fails to find any good jobs, Lois turns to her father Carter for assistance. Carter agrees to employ Peter as a servant on his estate, and the Griffins move into a settlement of other Mexican immigrants near Carter's mansion. Of course, working as a servant, especially under Carter, proves grueling for Peter, who begins to empathize with the immigrants. He forms a friendship with them, and they in turn invite him and his family to a party to celebrate Cinco de Mayo. However, Carter crashes the party by reminding him of American regulations. Peter is outraged and rallies up the immigrants to form a rebellion. Carter decides to negotiate with Peter, saying he will grant him American citizenship if he calls off the rebellion. Peter demands that everyone must gain citizenship, but the others insist that he take this opportunity, saying that their day will come someday. Peter agrees, and from this point onward Peter becomes an official American citizen; the family moves back to their house, Peter regains his job, and all is well. This episode was ok; there is not much more to say

okay this is the worst episode on this season what were these people thinking the show is really becoming bad but this is the worst.

okay so anyway Peter starts becoming frustrated of illegal immigrants after hearing herbert and other kids sing God Bless the USA so he convinces his boss by firing illegal immigrants but he found out that he we was born from Mexico and he didn't get his paper sign so he is a illegal immigrant so he gets fired from the brewury and so he gets a job from lois father and meets other illegal immigrants and they celebrates Cinco De Mayo but that makes lois father mad but he stops them by making peter a citizen of the USA.

After such a nice sequence of episodes (Lois and Stewie rivalry), we get what is one of the dullest family guy episodes. I mean, peter falling and killing two children? Forget that, the fact that every single joke was dragged on (the backup singing) really brought down the rating. The plot wasn't bad, but wasn't anything fresh, and hopefully this is just a filler episode for the season. So far, this season has 2 standout episodes, both aired prior to this one, but the rest have been misses, with this one being a straight strike out. Here's hoping family guy finds their ground next week.

It's hard to review an episode that had absolutely nothing in it whatsoever, except for a brief reference to 'ball in a cup'. That's what's getting my 5 points, also the fact that this is family guy and i generally like this show...That's honestly all the positives i can give for this episode.

This show has been diminishing in quality since its renewal from a few years cancellation. In the time that it has come back i've seen about 4 or 5 episodes that i would classify as favourites. This is just pathetic considering there's been about 40 episodes or so. What i've noticed is that the show has added more profanity in place of actual witty, somewhat clever remarks. The show managed 3 seasons without it so i don't see how it's particularly necessary.

The past few weeks has seen a great increase in quality but this week's has brought it down a great deal. I think that if this continues cancelling the show would actually be saving it. Despite it already being relatively too late, a cancellation sooner rather than later could save it from further embarassment. I don't normally write reviews, but this episode depressed me to the point that i had to jot down just how incredibly frustrating and disrespectful it was to what is generally a good show. I just hope things improve next week.
  • Maybe they should have waited for Seth.

    "Good"
If its true that they released this without Seth McFarlane approval it would be the reason that Padre de Familia wasn't very good, he is after all the main guy behind Family Guy. Given that the next 3 ep's are also without his approval, no one should jump to conclusions. Lets just hope the writers solve their problems and they get back together create some more Family Guy episodes that are the standard that we see in previous episodes and that they get some good original ideas out there that push the boundaries that we have seen Family Guy do so many times before . . .

Hmm... This episode wasn't my favorite, but at the same time it wasn't too bad. When I first heard of this episode, I thought it would be filled with lots of racial remarks towards Mexicans which wouldn't be that funny, but they actually didn't do that which surprised me. Most of the jokes were miss, but I wasn't expecting too much from this episode in the first place. The plot seemed kinda similar from a plot in the earlier seasons, but this one wasn't as good. The fact that there was really no subplot kind of made me upset because it was like everybody had to sit back and let Peter take all of the spotlight. But Lois, Stewie, and Meg had their good moments in this episode.
