  • Peter write an erotic novel; Stewie train for the Olympics

    9.0
    "Superb"
After reading an erotic novel, Peter gets the idea to write one himself. Carter gets sued for publishing Peter's book on tape and loses all his money, where he is forced to become a middle-class citizen. Meanwhile, Stewie tries to train for the Olympics. This is an improvement over the previous episode. I don't get why this episode is hated. I thought the plot here was great. My only problems were some of the stuffs that Peter and Carter did were not that interesting and there's another Meg abuse scene (at least Peter didn't attacked her). Parts that I laughed at were the beginning, the two cameos of the Kool Aid Guy (I LOL harder when Peter got punched by Carter and he ruined it again), Peter signing the woman's chest, most of the subplot, the man listening to Betty White's tape, cutaway with Ted Turner, a few of the routelines, and the last part. All in all, this episode was superb. 9/10

It was kind of boring, but I liked how Betty White guest starred and I liked Peter and Carter's plot

  • I LOVE THIS EPISODE SO MUCH!!!!

Peter, Joe, and Cleveland accompany Quagmire to the local erotica store, where they find themselves fascinated by the oddities. There, Peter buys an erotic book called Much Ado About Humping, a parody of the Shakespeare play Much Ado About Nothing. He finds it disappointing. His friends suggest he write his own erotic book; this sells well from its beginning stages as a Xeroxed, stapled manuscript to its later incarnation as a professionally-produced audio-book read by Betty White and produced by Carter Pewterschmidt.

A distracted, aroused driver listens to the audio-book and crashes into the Kool-Aid Man's house while trying to take his shirt off. The driver hires Scott Greenberg, Attorney of Law to sue Carter because the audio-book states that Carter was the publisher, whose entire assets are promptly seized. Peterotica is also pulled from the shelves of all book stores. An enraged Carter, feeling ruined, goes to Quahog to kill Peter with a rifle, but after Lois convinces him not to, he lives with the Griffins, while his wife divorces him and later marries Ted Turner.

Meanwhile, Stewie practices to be a gymnast in the Olympics. He practices pole vaulting with the unconscious Chris as a cushion. His training climaxes with an in-the-house vault that winds up getting him a large shard of glass in his head.

Peter tries to teach Carter how to be a regular person. Peter's attempt fails and Carter tells Peter what's wrong with his life. After Peter realizes his life sucks, he and Carter try to find ways to make money. Peter and Carter try several different ways of making money including stealing Lois's wallet, selling Meg pot (Carter knocks her out with a lamp and says "Now we have the pot and the money!"), making a teen drama TV show a la Dawson's Creek, and robbing a train, but each attempt fails. At the end, Barbara comes to Quahog to retrieve Carter, telling him that she divorced Turner and took half his assets. Despite the fact that he helped Carter turn his life and views of normal people around, Peter gets nothing. Lois tries to cheer Peter up by saying that they have true happiness since they have each other and that money doesn't matter; in doing so, she mentioned that she turned down $10 million from Carter a few years ago. After discovering this, Peter has a vivid fantasy of murdering Lois as she continues speaking.
  • One of the funniest FG episoodes I've seen

    8.1
    "Great"
This episode is just hilarity from the word go, I mean, what other show could take Paula Cole's I Don't Want to Wait and turn it into this: Da da da da da da Da da da da da da I don't wanna wait For my lunch to get colder Da da da why can't I eat it now? I don't wanna wait Da da da the new Toyota I want a car that has a lot of gas...

Plus, the scene on the train just kills me, that and the scene where Peter is tossing the thinking grenades out the window.
  • Peter writes an erotic novel.

    9.6
    "Superb"
Peter buys an erotic novel at a sex shop.He finds it boring, and with positive reviews from his friends, he decides to write his own novel. He gets 5 dollars from Carter Pewterschmidt to publish more copies, and when 'Peterotica' gets turned into a book on tape, someone crashes while listening to it and Carter gets sued. Carter then moves in with the Griffins when Babs divorces him, but can't adapt to life as an average person. Peter decides that he will help Carter get rich again. They attempt several times to get rich, with stealing from Lois, selling drugs to Meg, Creating a teen drama named 'Quohog creek' and robbing a train all being unsuccessful. But when Babs divorces Ted Turner they get rich again, leaving Peter depressed with being average again.A lot of the jokes come from Peter and Carter trying to get rich again, but the episode as a whole is a highlight of Season 4. Some people dislike this episode but it is one of my personal favourites.

When Peter along with Quagmire ,Joe and Cleveland go to an erotic store Peter buys an erotic novel. Not turned on peter decides to write his own novel and with 5 bucks from Carter he can. The books then get put on tape and when a guy who is listening is involved in a car crash he sues Carter leaving him middle class and his wife leaving him. When Carter moves in with the Griffins in Quohog he and Peter come up with ways of becoming rich. From robbing Lois and destracting her with a unicycle, being robbers on a train to making a teen drama called "Quohog Creek" a P**S take off "Dawsons Creek". Carters wife Babs is seeing some guy who works for CNN and they marry. She divorces him and gets half of CNN and some of FOX and goes back to Carter.
  • Includes a Great Cameo by Betty White herself!

The episode had alot of potential and in some places it lived up to the potential but in some places I found it landing back in my face again.

Firsly I really cant downplay how funny the whole idea of Peter writing Erotic Novels was. When they showed each magazine that he had written, i couldn't stop laughing. And also when Betty White herself started reading out an erotic novel on audio tape, i found myself drooling with laughter.

But after that, the episode sort of lost its touch with me. As much as I wanted to find the whole storyline with Lois' father being an average American, it just really wasn't as funny as the first 10 minutes.

The funniest joke had to be the gag about Blind Justice. It was just completely hillarious.

Overall, a great storyline that was weakened when it went off the topic.

“Guys is the best dirty book store in town family owned, great hours, ….”. Cackle.. “What do you want homo?” lmao Lois’s dad has the best voice very Sharpe and arsie lol one of my favourite characters his insults sound twice as insulting. Who ever came up with idea of having Betty white do Peter’s books on tape is a legend, funny stuff. “ The hot chick who was Italian or some kind of Spanish”. Hahaha .

After going to a sex shop with Glenn Quagmire, Joe Swanson and Cleveland Vrown Peter buys and erotic novel. After reading it he finds that it isn't that good. So he writes to the writer and also adds what he would of wrote. When Peter shew this to his friends and Lois they told him that he should publish it. So Peter went to Carter to ask him to publish it. After he gave Peter $5 he managed to sell some copies. Whilst someone was listening to Peters arotic novel he had a crash and sued the publisher, Carter. Carter lost his house wife and money. But eventually alls well that ends well. All in all an average episode.
  • Peter and his father-in-law finally get along... Greed is the ultimate adhesive.

    9.8
    "Superb"
I really thought that people gave this a bad review. I honestly liked this episode and thought it was a great dynamic between Peter and his father-in-law. The middle third was especially good. I saw this episode on a rerun since I missed the original, but really thought that it fit really well. However, the classic cartoon conclusion (everything returns to normal) was only the last couple minutes. I thought they could have developed that a little more. They could have used more creativity other then saying:”we have money again." I rated this episode a 9.8 simply because it has gotten such bad reviews. I've noticed that people that rate family guy are overly critical. Maybe they are being idealistic about what they expect, but I think this episode was as good as an old one. It was minimal in its references and mainly new material.
  • Great Episode, Not the best though

    8.5

"Peterotica" is a Great Episode, but not the best one.

In this Episode, Peter goes to an Adult Book Shop, and buys an Erotic Novel, but it isn't erotic at all. So, Peter writes a letter telling them what he would've wrote, and it turns out, he's a great writer. He starts to publish his own erotic novels ("Angela's @$$es", "What I Would do Sexually to Hilary Clinton", and "The Hot Chick who was Italian, or Maybe some sort of Spanish") with the help of Lois' Father.

But when someone is injured when listening to a tape of one of his books, Mr. Pewterschidt gets sued and loses all his money. Peter tries to show him the good things about being poor, but soon realizes being poor sucks! SO they try to become rich again.

Meanwhile, Mrs. Pewterschidt marries Ted Turner & divorces him to become rich again.

    Jokes: 4.5/5

    Story: 4/5

Peter discovers he is really cool writing erotic novels, so he wants some money from Lois's father in order to publish it, and he gives him five dollars. Later, when a teenager ends up death because of the novel, Lois's father ends up without money and without wife, so Peter tries to teach him the joy of being a normal person. But later, both of them realized that being a normal person sucks so they tried to do everything they can to get rich, not that cool episode, I thought of something better...
  • A pretty boring episode

    "Poor"
This Episode starts out ok but then it goes downhown really fast. It starts when Peter buys an errotic novel and is disapointed so he\'s friends suggest he makes one. He needs money to publish it so asks his father in law who hates him. He gives him 5 dollars and Peter thinks this is the money and labelles it made by Carter Pewterschmitt Productions. After someone gets hurt listening to it, they sew the publishers aka Carter and he becomes poor and goes to live the Grittins and teachers Peter that being a regular guy isn\'t enough. They then try to get rich.

The reason I didn\'t like it is because it had very little gags and overall wasn\'t very fuuny whatsoever.
  • You know, from the other side, that is really annoying

    7.5
    "Good"
I found myself cringing many times during this episode, especially at that stupid rat flashback, Julia Roberts flashback after a line that would have been good had it not been accompanied by the line and Quagmire singing or humming after a line that would be funny is he just ended it with the usual “Oh!”

The train robbing scene was funny at first but went on far too long as did Peter’s Quahog Creek video.

Peter’s erotic novels was a good plot but the poor Pewterschmidt’s plot that came out of it wasn’t nearly as good, and neither was Stewie’s gymnast plot, though both had their moments, such as the routine and Brian pointing out that the “announcer” was wrong and the final scene with Peter imagination running wild.

Overall, this episode could have been fantastic but ended up with the rest of the season four – average.
  • It's one of those episodes that I wouldn't bother watching again, but it was ok.

Peter and his friends go to an adult store and Quagmire keeps making his lame-wad giggity jokes that are never really funny. Then Quagmire goes into his "make them laugh" musical and he didn't make me laugh in that episode once! There was no Herbert as usual, he could've read Peter's book and then say, "I wanna do all that stuff with Chris!" I laugh every time Herbert talks! The Stewlympics sub-plot was lame, and yes Stewie, the mat activity you did with the tights is gay, Brian's right. The stuff that Peter put in the book was not funny at all, and the fact that some guy sued Lois's dad for all he had was pretty lame. The train robbing scene was lame, just another one of those expressionless ongoing and unfunny conversations with all kinds of "yeahs" before they say something.
  • A erotic novel made by Peter ends up with Carter being sued and loses all his money, where he is forced to become a middle-class citizen.

    "Poor"
The first three seasons of family guy were great, full of wholesome and tasteful jokes.

Now Family Guy has turned into a digusting, controversial, and tasteless show about nothing. The show consists of 10% plot, and 90% flashbacks/jokes/off-topic conversations. The show is full of meaningless off-topic conversations. If you edit out the B.S, there's about 12 minutes of actual storyline! And what's with the other characters like Cleveland, Quagmire, and Joe? They're confined to 2 minutes before they out of the episode. I'm also sick of the over-used jokes. There's only a couple times that you can laugh at Meg or other celebrites before you get sick of it.

Family Guy is going down a bottomless spiral.
  • First episode of Family Guy that has been to the right standard since Patriot Games.

    8.6
    "Great"
I really don't see why this episode scored so low....I think it has alot of the feel that Family Guy has been missing lately and been the first normal standard episode since Patriot Games which also was harshly judged for some reason. Peter finds out he has a tallent for dirty writing when he starts reading a very slow erotic novel. Peter tries to gets funding off Mr. Pewterschmidt and becomes a popular erotic novelist until an audio casset version of one of Peter's novels causes someone to crash there car. The guy who crashed the car wants to sue and because Mr. Pewterschmidt produced it he gets sued and loses most of his money.....after blaming Peter for the whole thing, Peter trys to make him wealthy again by some crazy scheams. Mean while Stewie trys to become a gymnist.

This episode may not have been a classic but we did get to see the feel that that made the show great that has been missing from the last few episodes. It's good to see that the writers still have abit of steam left and lets hope it keeps up because this is more like what Family Guy is supposed to be.

tiny tims wrong.....in fact non fans of the show are bound to diss the show...ive found the series to still have its outrageous side and its trademark flashback jokes are funny even when i dont get them...(i get the jokes on repeat veiwing when i get the reference)

this episode is funny the sex shop clip is funny joes reaction to the dummies priceless but peters sex novel titled "what i would do sexually to hilary clinton" had me in stiches......

This episode had a lot of jokes in it that actually made me laugh, I laughed at other epsiodes but this one made me laugh hard. A few moments such as; The book on tape, where the guy in the car took of his shirt. The book on tape, it's just so funny how it goes; "Some hot italian chick" which to me was the funniest part.

The part on the train was actually funny to me, the longer it went the more I laughed, small-talk is boring, pitiful robbers. And the part where Peter started imagining killing Lois, after he found out she turned down a million dollars. To me, this is one of the funniest episodes ONE of the funniest. If I could, I'd watch it again.

I gotta tell you at first I thought this episode was going to be weak because it got off to a slow start but once it got going it was funny as hell!

The whole plot sounds weak, but it\'s actually the gags between Peter and Carter that save this episode, Betty White\'s guess apperance rocked!Kudos Betty \"Rose Nylund\"White!

Plus I was cracking up at the Dawson\'s Creek reprise with the lyrics: I don\'t wanna wait .for my lunch to get colder(mumbles)Why can I eat it now?I don\'t wanna wait la...la..la new Toyota I wanna car that\'s got alot of gas.

Also I was on the floor laughing when Peter started fantasizing about killing Lois when she told Peter that she once turned down a $10 million dollar grant from her father.

Favorite line: Betty White at the door: Hi, I\'m Betty White. I\'ve just been handed down a supoena for an lawsuit and I\'d like to find the S.O.B. responsible.

    Overall, well done.
  • Could've been dejavu from a quote from "Complete Savages".

    8.1
    "Great"
Peter writing sexy novels & Betty White reading them on audio tapes? What a concept!

When Betty appeared @ the Griffin home, threatening to sue Peter, they should've had Brian in that scene. Brian would've chased her off the property, then she would've screamed, "I'm coming for ya Griffin, and your little dog too!" That would've been funnier & a dejavu.

There was a Complete Savages episode where the dad tried to get his basketball back from Mrs. Riley (Betty). He gets the dog to retrieve it, but gets her artificial leg! As they ran off, she hopped on one foot screaming, "I'm comin for ya Savage & your little dog too!" That'a the dejavu.

One thing people have to understand is that Family Guy is not made to be a show that has great characters and exciting episodes…its purely there for comedy, and might I saw good comedy it is. This show is supposed to make you laugh and nothing more. Like in this episode the whole part where people keep crashing through the wall of the Kool Aid jug…that was really funny seeing him getting annoyed. Also it was funny seeing Carter become poor and how he had no Idea how to do things on his own, and pretty much hated being an average Joe. Seriously people get with it…just laugh and go to sleep.

    9.0
    "Superb"
The original Family Guy flare is back! After nearly jumping the shark in recent episodes, this episode manages to reinsert pure comedy into the show and Family Guy\\\'s classic, twisted characterizations of reality. Like \\\"Sibling Rivalry\\\" (Season 4, Ep 23), the writers manage to take a serious but not often considered social issue like class and turn it on its head. Carter\\\'s upper class habits and awkwardness to fit in demonstrate the simple but effective comedic writing technique: It\\\'s funny because it\\\'s true.

Stewie\\\'s training for the Olympics delivers fresh material to add to the Stewart Gilligan Griffin memory book. Especially memorable is his interpretation of a gay/non-gay routine. It\\\'s always remarkable to see the infant demagogue mastering physical feats despite an enlarged football head that ought to get in the way of any attempt toward Olympic training.
  • Peter finds he has a talent for writing erotic books. And of course it goes wrong and he ends up spending a lot of time with Lois's father.

This was an especially good episode with a lot of classic jokes and a lot of new crossing the line jokes. Most importantly it scored 8.04 million viewers while The Simpsons had 7.04 million viewers, I'm glad that this show is finally pulling ahead of it's outdated and currently boring predecessor. Adding a jab at the Simpsons origon on the Tracey Ullman show didn't hurt either.

One thing that I didn't really like about the episode was the part about the cool-aid guy since it was very very similar to a Dane Cook comedy act that he does. But it could just be a coincidence an since they are both funny I can get over it quite easily.

Here's a list of my favourite things in this episode:

    - Stewies gymnastic routines were awesome

    - Betty White being a guest star (for some reason I still find it funny when she is innappropriate evn though she's been doing that for so many years.

    - Making fun of Renee Zellweger and saying she should be the close friend at best. I agree completely, she's been milking that oscar for all she can get for far too long.

    - Peter's conversation with the train conductor was just classic family guy humour.

    - I loved when Carter says thta TNT is neat becaue that is really the only way to describe it, It's hardly as good as showtime and no where near HBO it's just neat.

    - The attorney fighting the racor was great too.

    - Harry Potter and the half-black chick

  • Not a bad episode at all

... Not on-par with some of the other episodes of this season, but definitely a funny one.

Although I didn't get the reference to the cool-aid man, a lot of the jokes were really good. The stewie parts were good, but it wasn't a Stewie-centered episode (which is always a shame). I really liked the monocycle joke (where Mr. Pewderschmidt tries to steal money from Lowis).

Favorite line: "What do you want, homo?" (Mr. Pewderschmidt to Peter when the latter appears on his doorstep).

I'm not a fan of the deus-ex-machina solution to major problems, but hey, it's a cartoon! :)
  • the story makes hardly any sense at times and most jokes are shallow. Did they hire monkeys to write the 5th season?

Better than last episode but still not as good as seasons 1-3 ( even 4 ). This show is really trying to NOT be one of the 2 most watched shows AND soften the jokes so that they no longer offend evangelical middle America. But the truth is that if a show appeals to everybody then it's pure crap.

As far as the episode goes, it brings back Quagmire and he is funny but yet gets on your nerves by the 5th minute of the show. He keeps on doing his stupid little routine which is funny the first 3 times and then gets to be your uncle who has to explain his own jokes and then laugh at them because he thinks that no one gets them. Truly sad for a comedy show. Also there are another 5 minutes of the show when in every other sentence, Peter compares something to a memory of his and then you get to see shallow joke. Yes some are alright but only when used in moderation. This episode could have been great but it just seems like it has been censored and the jokes really toned down. I used to love this show and now I find myself loosing interest in it.

i\\\'ve been a fan of the series since the begining, and this is the first time i\\\'ve seen an episode that didn\\\'t make me laugh once. the \\\"make \\\'em laugh\\\" sequence seemed pretty unnecessary. maybe fox bought the rites to some old musicals, and thats why they\\\'re using the songs.

the train robbery scene and the unicycle scene went on WAY too long, and the glass in the forehead was really disturbing, as was the visualisation of killing Lois.

this series recurring Kool-aid guy scenes were okay, but that was pretty much the highlight of the episode. If this is what they plan to get by on, Family Guy is likely to die again, but this time it won\'t be back.
  • Starts out strong, but gets long in the tooth towards the end...

    7.5
    "Good"
This episode started out great. The erotica plot was very funny, and lent itself to some great bits (including the audio tape and the guy in the car)

However, the second half of the episode...which focused on Lois' dad trying to make his money back...really faded. It was hurt by what has slowly become Family Guy's bane, overly long jokes. This episode had gone without them, but made up for it in the second half by having two nearly back to back.

The first, with Peter and Lois' dad filming their own Dawson's Creek, got quite boring...as the joke began to get repetitive. By the time the actual punchline arrived, I and those viewing were more than ready for the scene to move on.

Second, and most hurtful to watch, was the scene with the conductor on the train. There the dialouge got quite bland, and again ran far too long. Just as I was ready for the scene to end, it seemed to pick up a new head of steam...going so far as to start a third time when one of the three notices the poster.

The show saves itself though with a strong finish, as Peter learns that Lois was offered 10 million dollars early in their marriage. As Lois blathers on about something or another, we get a look at exactly what Peter wants to do.

The first and second half even each other out, with the final joke being the major saving grace of the episode.

This episode does not suck! In fact, it's funnier than half the episode's I've seen this season. The only episode that tops this is PTV. I'm serious. I'm not joking. PTV is the only episode in this season that made me laugh more than this did. This is one of the funniest eps the new season has shown us, yet it got worse reviews than Lois getting fat! Seriously, how is this worse than Lois getting fat? Okay, Peter writes a book. Pretty uneventful, but it has its funny moments. As soon as Mr. Peudershmidt is deprived of his wealth, it's funny again. Face it, this episode made me laugh harder than any other episode this season had to offer, and even had a good storyline. Sure, the subplot was weird, but the real plot was greatly portrayed. This may not be THE best episode, but it's better than half the crap this season has to offer. Okay, according to the reviews, people think this episode is worse than Peter becoming a member of the patriots. According to the viewers, this is worse than Lois getting fat. According to the crticism, this is worse than Peter going blind. You make me sick. This is a LOT better than the episode before it.
  • Average, very good

    8.0
    "Great"
I thought this episode was funny, but also agree that in some respect it has started to slid down the hill, the actually storyline to this episode was not very good at all, but the jokes that were used seemed to always keep everything together, peters thinking grenades are funny, and when they try to rob that train and when they try to steal money from loise and they steal $10 but he sais it cost him $900 to lean how to ride the unicycle overall it was a funny episode but an average plot to it, but funny normally overtakes the plot.
