  • Funny!

There were some great mometns throughout the episode, such as with the fdate Brian was on and the comments about putting all the orpahns on a farm to run free, and then repeating the same things! It was pretty funny!

There were smoe interesting moments starring Stewie as well, such as the peek-a-boo scene! That was hilarious!

Hoping for more laughs with the next episode as well! This was a good one!moreless
  • Peter and Brian's friendship is tearing apart when Peter replaced Brian with James Woods and Brian dates Meg's high school teacher

Peter and Brian's friendship becomes strained after Brian begins dating Meg's high school teacher. Peter finds a replacement in new best friend James Woods, who is visiting Quahog because of a suggestion to rename James Woods High School after Martin Luther King Jr. I thought that this was a great episode of "Family Guy". It could have been better but I still really enjoyed it. It was getting boring in some parts and the storyline wasn't too well written but decent. The humor here was pretty good though. The parts that made me laugh was the cutaway with Brian singing the opera and then Peter comes out the tree and sings "through the tree", the cutaway with Ronald Reagon puahed the brick wall of McDonald's but gets tired out and says "Reagon sleepy", the cutaway with Peter playing peek-a-boo with Stewie, Mayor West's cameo appearance at the movie theater, and more. The episode, while it wasn't strong on both of the stories, it was strong on the humor and I did enjoy it. I also loved Peter and James Woods' musical number in this episode, it's one of those musical numbers where it gets stuck in my head. It's also good to see that Peter and Brian made up at the end and caught James Woods. Overall, this was a great episode... not the best but it's pretty great to watch. 8/10moreless

Peter finds a replacement in new best friend James Woods, who is visiting Quahog because of a suggestion to rename James Woods High School after Martin Luther King Jr. Not the greatest episode episode I've ever seen, but it was still good to watch. As the usual, cutaways are the highlights in this episode. My porblem was some of the parts were annoying. For example, Peter was getting on my nerves when he was with Meg and called her a dog. That's so much for having Meg bashed a lot in this season. Other funny moments were butter corn because Mayor West didn't like the popcorn, Peter and Brian reuniting (because their relationships with them had in the common), and the ET reference where James Wood get a piece of candy. Overall, a great episode, but it was kinda boring. 8/10moreless

What I liked: Brian talking about putting all the world's orphans on a farm to let them run free, and then saying the same thing about black people, Brian saying if he was offered a slave he would turn it down, Brian and Peter trapping James Woods, Peter saying if it was him in the crate he would be mad, James Woods sleeping at the foot of Peter and Lois' bed, Adam West at the movie theater, amongst other things.

Good episode. The plot was not that great but it was a really funny episode, much better then its sequel episode. B or so as my final grademoreless

FILTER BY TYPE

  • TRIVIA (3)

    • Near the end of the episode when the "Top Man" is driving the nail in the box you can see that actually the nail is a screw with a Phillips head.

    • In the Star Trek gag, Picard (Patrick Stewart) referred to Worf as "Commander Worf", but Worf was a Lieutenant in the TV series. He didn't become a Commander until the first TNG movie. Also Wesley Crusher and Data are in the wrong seats.

    • Due to the tragedy of Hurricane Katrina, this episode was changed to become the fall premiere. Perfect Castaway was originally scheduled, but it had hurricane references, so it was moved a few weeks later.

  • QUOTES (15)

    • Brian: I can't believe you went to that much effort just to sabotage me. You're a jerk, you know that?
Peter: Listen, at least I wasn't trying to change the name of the school to impress my girlfriend.
Brian: Now that is not true!
Peter: Oh yeah? Why'd you pick Martin Luther King? Huh? Why not, uh, Ronald Reagan? He was always fun. Especially in his later years.
(cut to Ronald Reagan standing outside of a McDonald's)
Ronald Reagan: Mr. Gorbachev, tear down this wall. Tear it down! Reagan Smash! (starts punching wall) Reagan Smash!
(cut to the inside of the McDonald's)
      Worker: What's that?
Worker 2: Oh, it's just Reagan. Just leave if alone, he'll tire himself out.
(cut to outside, where Ronald Reagan is laying in a fetal position)
      Ronald Reagan: Reagan sleepy.

    • Brian: What happened to your good buddy James Woods?
Peter: He was having trouble catching things in his mouth. What happened to your girlfriend?
      Brian: Same problem.
Peter and Brian: WHOA! (they both laugh)

    • Shauna: (to Brian) Nothing cuter than a nervous white dog.

    • Peter: If I drive, I'll have to have a couple of drinks first because I am very self-conscious about my driving.

    • (Brian sticks his hand in Mayor West's bag of popcorn)
Brian: What the hell is this.
Mayor West: It's creamed corn. I brang it from home because I don't like the creamed corn thay have here. It's to crunchy.

    • Peter: I don't care, girl's are stupid anyway.

    • Meg: Will you guys just stop fighting. GOD!
      Chris: What's wrong with Meg?
Lois: Oh, it's just her time of the month.
      A Sheep: Not again!

    • Peter: Hey, Stewie. Peek-a-boo!
Stewie: Yes, I see you, fat man.
      Peter: Where's daddy? (covers eyes)
Stewie: What? (looks around) Where did you go?!! Oh, this is impossible! I can hear you, but I can't see y--well, he must really be gone. (picks nose)
Peter: (removes hands from eyes) Peek-a-boo!
Stewie: Ah! How the hell did you do that?! Look, I thought you disappeared, otherwise I wouldn't have picked my--(Peter covers his eyes again) oh, great. Leave when I'm right in the middle of a sentence.

    • James Woods: (shouting at Peter) I'LL ACT THE WAY I WANNA ACT, YOU SON OF A BITCH!!

    • Peter: Me, go to a PTA meeting? What, are you high?
Lois: Nah, not anymore, I crashed hours ago. By the way, we're out of chips, cookies and Funnybones.

    • I Have James Woods Song
      Peter: Someone to care for
      To be there for
      I have James Woods
James Woods: Someone to do for
      Follow through for
      You have James Woods
      Peter: Someone to share
      Joy or despair with,
      Whichever betides you
James Woods: Life becomes a chore
Peter & James Woods: Unless you're living for
      Peter: Someone to tend to
      Be a friend to
      I have James Woods
James Woods: Someone to strive for
      Do a dive for
      You have James Woods
Peter & James Woods: It's true
      We two
Have a likewise point of view
      James Woods: 'cuz James Woods
      Has you
Peter: And I have James Woods, too!

    • Peter: Boy, I haven't been this creeped out since I saw that episode of Star Trek.
      (animated Enterprise-D)
Captain Picard: Number One, if I were to whisper in your ear that Commander Worf's head looks like a fanny, would you join me in a laugh?
Commander Riker: Yeah, I could get in on that.
Captain Picard: All right, here it comes... (yells) Commander Worf's head looks like a fanny!
      (everyone but Worf laughs)
Worf: You can both suck my ridges!!!
Captain Picard: Oh, get a sense of humor, Rocky Dennis!

    • Lois: Oh by the way Bonnie, we just finished reading the Davinci Code at my book club, you were right, its terrific!
Stewie: OH let me guess, some flowery 300 page menopausal, masturbatory aid.

    • Stewie: Ah, Brian on a date hmm, that'd be more pathetic than that game of marco polo I played with Helen Keller.

    • (After Brian and Peter trap James Woods in the box)

Peter: That better not be me in the box again or I'll be pissed off!

  • NOTES (2)

  • ALLUSIONS (7)

    • Ferris Bueller's Day Off

When Brian meets Shauna, they play a song in the background about Shauna, just like the scene in Ferris Bueller's Day Off when Jeanie Bueller is talking to the boy in the police station, saying some people call her Shauna.

    • Ferris Bueller's Day Off

The name Shauna is sung in the background when Brian first talks to Shauna in class. This is a reference to the police station scene in Ferris Bueller's Day Off when Jean (Jennifer Grey) tells the guy (played by Charlie Sheen) that people call her Shauna.

    • Roy L. Dennis
Capitan Picard: (to Commander Worf) Oh, get a sense of humor, Rocky Dennis!

Rocky Dennis was boy afflicted with a bone disease that severely disfigured his face and most prominently his forehead. He was portrayed in the movie Mask. This reference is apparently due to Commander Worfs cranial ridges.

    • Chitty Chitty Bang Bang

The song "James Woods" is a parody of the song "You Two" from the movie Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. As a matter of fact, it's prettymuch "You Two" with the only difference in the lyrics being "James Woods" as opposed to "you two."

    • E.T.

The scene where James Woods follows a trail of Reeses Pieces to the box trap is a mirror of a scene from E.T. The Extra Terrestrial, where E.T. follows a trail of Reeses Pieces out of the forest.

    • That 70's Show

Peter: We gotta come up with some crazy scheme like the kids on That 70's Show

This is an obvious reference to the FOX hit comedy. The scene that follows this line is an exact copy of the scene cuts in That 70's Show. It's doubly funny when you realize Mila Kunis (Meg Griffin) is one of the show's regulars.

    • Raiders of the Lost Ark

Peter: He's being examined by top men.
      Brian: Who?
      Peter: Top men.

This exchange along with the following scene of a warehouse of boxes is taken from the Indiana Jones movie Raiders of the Lost Ark.
