  • Hopefully the end of the Brian and Lois jokes

    4.2
    "Poor"
This episode wasn't that good. Only a few of the jokes were funny, and the ending was awful! having some random sing along. Why is there a sing along in every episode, even when Seth McFarland goes out of his way to add them. Its annoying and stupid! I hope this pointless episode solved one problem the show has been having, i hope it stopped the Brian and Lois jokes. Yeah, we got it a long time ago, come up with a new running gag please. The only really good part of this episode was the fight between Peter and Brian and that was kind of quick.
  • Brian is the reason why my score isn't a 10

    "Superb"
Peter and Lois' marriage hits a bit of a snag. When Brian wins the New England Rising Writer's award, the three of them head to Martha's Vineyard for a nice relaxing vacation. Peter's usual drinking habits take over and he soon spirals out of control, as does Brian's self restraint, as he soon professes his love for Lois. Peter and Brian test their friendship over the woman of their dreams.I thought that this was a superb episode of "Family Guy". I remember when this episode first premiered, I thought it was going to be pure awful and garbage but it actually wasn't. This episode actually had a lot of funny parts especially in the "Herbert taking care of Chris, Meg, and Stewie" plot. So yeah, this episode actualy wasn't bad at all. My score is only a little low because Brian was just out of control in this episode. I hated how he was going to betray Brian and he even told himself "That is Peter's wife" but he still tries to rape Lois anyways so I thought that was WAY out of line. Peter confronting Brian after Lois told him that Brian tried to have sex with her was interesting and the fight scene between Peter and Brian was pretty intense and very bloody to watch. Nathan Lane stopping the fight between Peter and Brian was funny. It was hilarious when Herbert tried to get Chris to help him take a bath but Meg takes Herbert a bath instead. Herbert's line "Damnit, I'm missing Boys Meet World for this" was also hilarious. It was also very funny when Stewie called Brian about a few questions on the game "Scattergories". The cutaway with Peter and Lois' wedding was hilarious. I also laughed super hard when Peter forgot about dinner with Lois and her parents, sex, and going to Lois' grandmother's grave. What also cracked me up hard was the "Damn nature, you're scary". I also enjoyed the musical number "The Spirit of Massachusetts" at the end AND near the middle of the episode. Chris asking Herbert if he was a pedophile was funny as well. Overall, a superb episode of "Family Guy" but it would've been a 10 if Brian wasn't so out of control and trying to have sex with Lois. 9/10

This was a really funny episode. What i liked- Chris finally asking Herbert if he was a pedophile, Herbert trying to get Chris to help him in the bath, only for it to be Meg to help, Stewie calling Brian and asking if "Nyquil" was a liquid, (pretty much everythin in the Herbert/kids sub plot), Brian trying to have his way with Lois, Peter forgetting to go out with Lois with her parents, and to visit her grandmother's grave, etc.

Good episode. Amongst the only thing I can think of that I disliked was the ending with them all singing. The rest was really funny, especially Herbert's plot. A+

Brian was just ridiculous in this episode, trying to rape Lois, and fighting Peter because of lois.

  • Another Great Episode

Such a revealing episode! After all these years, Lois discovers that Brian loves her romantically. Peter does pay little attention to Lois, but Brian shouldn't think he's justified to sleep with (or try to) with his best friend's wife. The almost rape scen was kinda hot and funny! The Brian and Peter fight was funny and exciting, I was kinda rooting for Peter. The ending song was funny! The kids babysitting part was funny. That old man is SUCH a pedophile. He really is. Mostly to Chris. Anyway, this was a really good episode. I just hope Brian can get over his crush on Lois.
  • Brian wins an award from the New England Writer's acociation so he, Lois, and Peter go to Martha's Vineyard. Peter get's drunk and Brain loves Lois!

Brian won an award from the New England Writer's association so he, Lois and Peter go to Martha's Vineyard leaving Chris, Meg, and Stewie with Herbert the pedophile. As soon as they arrive Peter get's drunk and misses Brian's ceremony. In fact he's drunk during most of the trip. He even married a gay guy. (Witch is apparently legal in this state.) While Peter is off getting drunk Brian and Lois See the sights. Brian finally admits he loves Lois but she rejects him. When Peter finds out he get's in a bar fight with Brain.Later as they leave Peter, Lois and Brian and the Massachusetts citzins sing the state song. (Witch is lame but danceable.) Meanwhile Herbert tries to make Chris give him a sponge bath but Meg ends up giving it to him instead. Also later Chris asks Herbert if he is a pedophile but we don't hear his response.
  • The dog is out of the bag, things come to a head, and Chris makes a startling revelation! 8)

Brian's finally recognized for his writing! He takes Peter and Lois on an all expenses paid trip to Martha's Vineyard while Chris, Meg, and Brian stay behind with Herbert! While Brian's feeling pretty proud, things are pretty rocky between Peter and Lois. Peter is forgetful, while Lois tries to be thoughtful. And despite all the chances she gives Peter to be a good husband, he can't accomplish even this! Brian still has feelings for Lois and sees a window of opportunity. Brian gives his speech and Lois is moved by it. Brian later reveals he wrote it about Lois. They begin to hang out everywhere together. At the beach, at the park, or even just watching movies together. And while they're love is more innocent, Herbert's love for Chris isn't as pure. And while Herbert's advances are thwarted by convenient circumstances, he's not giving up! Until Chris Finally suspects the truth, and asks Herbert if he really is what he is. Of course, the answer is yes despite Herbert's non-admittance! But Brian does admit, he admits he loves Lois beyond his wildest dreams, and can't stand being denied anymore! So imagine Brian's surprise when Lois reveals that she doesn't want to betray her marriage with Peter. She even snitches to Peter about what Brian attempted to do, and Peter feels betrayed! Brian tells Peter that Peter has no right to feel betrayed, he doesn't Deserve Lois, while Peter refutes that Brian can Never stay in a relationship! Naturally, this gets Brian mad, mad enough to attack his best friend/owner Peter! Until they're stopped by Nathan Lane of all people, and he tells them to stop fighting! Peter and Brian realize he's right. Lois is committed, and Brian shouldn't put something as valuable as friendship in jeopardy just because he loved Lois! But in a bit of consolation, Lois tells Brian that she Always thinks of him when she makes love to Peter! While the relationships between the Griffin's are healed, Brian knows he still hasn't found what he's looking for. (U2 reference! ) Love this show, enough said! ;)
  • Just this episode had an overused plot. Didn't we cover the fact that Briand Loved Lois already. The jokes were not funny at all. (Most of them) Just really didn't feel like a Family Guy episode.

Peter and Lois are experiencing a moment of tension between themselves, as Peter would much rather spend time with his friends than with his wife. Brian, who has announced that he won an award for an essay he wrote and was invited to Martha's Vineyard to receive it, offers to take them with him on vacation to ease the anxiety. Peter and Lois agree and, when the three arrive at their fancy hotel, Peter immediately begins enjoying himself. As such, he fails to arrive for the party at which Brian receives his award. Brian reads an excerpt from his poem, which is be about Lois, and touches her heart. When Peter does arrive, he is completely intoxicated and chastised by Lois for choosing to get drunk rather than to witness his best friend in such an honorable situation.

The next morning, Lois is willing to put her conflict from the other night behind her, but agrees to spend the day with Brian as Peter has already made plans for himself. Toward the end of the day, Lois is dismayed to find that Peter is gone yet again (in fact, he went to get drunk with Nathan Lane, who is staying in their hotel, and even married him in his drunkenness), so she decides to spend the evening with Brian as well. As Brian makes preparations, he begins experiencing sick fantasies of himself kissing Lois and declaring his passion for her, despite well knowing that she is already married to his best friend. That evening, Brian loses his self-restraint and tries to have sex with her; Lois is greatly troubled by this, so she forces him out of the room.

As Brian mulls over the severity of his own actions, Lois remains concerned for both Peter and Brian. The next morning, Lois tells Peter about what happened. Peter confronts Brian at the hotel bar and tells him to back off from his wife. Brian counters by saying that Peter is too selfish to be good enough for Lois. Their argument quickly escalates to violence as the two begin to brutally beat each other up, but (after Nathan Lane's intervention in defense of his husband, i.e. Peter) they decide to settle their conflict another way, and Brian promises never to let Lois come between their friendship ever again. Brian formally apologizes to Lois for his actions and she forgives him, though she does admit that sometimes she feels the same way Brian does about her. Nevertheless, she chooses to remain faithful to Peter, and the three happily return home as if nothing bad ever happened.

Back at home, since no one else was available, Peter and Lois have decided to hire Herbert to look after the Meg, Chris and Stewie while they are away. Of course, Herbert makes several remarks to Chris that indicate his attraction to him, such as trying to convince Chris to bathe him (although Meg ends up doing it). In the end, Chris finally asks him, "Are you a pedophile?"

Watch it, but I personaly feel Brian in Love is better.

Peter's excessive drinking causes him to spiral out of control, and Brian finally professes his love for Lois. Meanwhile, back in Quahog, Herbert the pedophile is left to watch Chris, Meg, and Stewie.

I enjoyed watching this episode. I liked Herbert, and when Meg had to give him a bath. Haha. It was a humorous storyline and episode. I liked the Brian and Peter fight. I don't think we've ever had one of those. Haha, Peter married Nathan Lane! LMAO! Brian finally professed his love, and, Lois has thought about doing it. Ew. Haha, good episode.

  • A little dull, but the song and the barfight compensate.

    8.0
    "Great"
Well, I thought that some parts were a little dull, but it definitely got better toward the end. I thought the parts with Herbert were entertaining, especially when Chris says "Are you a pedophile?"

The song featured in this episode, The Spirit of Massachusetts, was simple and catchy. It's one of Peter's better singing performances.

The highlight of the episode for me was the barfight. It was gruesome, exciting, and the suspenseful music set the mood just right. I really liked it when Peter pretty much wails on Brian only to be taken out with his own beer barrel.

    GRADE: B
  • Good, good, but not great

    8.1
    "Great"
After watching the disasterous mess that was Back to the Woods, I needed another stellar Family Guy episode to fall back on. This on, almost two months after the strike, wasn't great but it sufficed enough for me to hold over until the next episode. in this episode Brian is finally winning an award recognizing his achievement in writing. The awards ceremony is to be held in Massachusetts so he invites Peter and Lois to come with him. Unfortunately, Peter and Lois are having martial problems and Peter's unwilling to admit to the problem and naively doing what he wants to do instead of fixing the problem. While he's off doing what he wants, Lois and Brian spend some close time with each other so Brian takes it as his cue to try and win Lois' affection one more time. Meanwhile, the rest of the family has a few babysitting lessons with Herbert. This is not the worst episode of Family Guy and the jokes in this episode were more on track than Back to the Woods, but the storyline is still not solid enough. They're essentially recycling an old plotline that had already been established and they didn't even try to give it a more original twist. The story was sweet in a way and touching, but since it's Brian, you understand that it's never going to go anywhere. Lois will always stay with Peter and Peter with her. They can't keep trying to bring Brian's crush on her like that. And the plotline with Herbert, I was disturbed the whole time. Nothing happened but it was too creepy for comfort. And the Massachusetts song montage, I had to look that up before I was able to understand but watching it, it looked like they were oddly sucking up to Massachusetts. Overall, this episode was done with more effort but Family Guy still needs to go back up a notch to return to stellar.
  • Brian tries it on with lois.......again with predictable results and a bland ending.

    5.1
    "Mediocre"
This episode is exactly as i summed it up in the classification. The episodes of family guy recently have seemingly become 50% clips which have no relevance to the plot and are honestly not that funny and are starting to make less sense ( did anyone get the shower joke) and who honestly thought that mocking aggressive cancer was a good idea. Overall i think this episode proves once again that family guy is losing its funny and has been reduced to a soap opera like existence with the whole brian tries it with lois again storyline. Not very good at all.
  • Brian takes Peter and Lois on a Vacation

Peter and Lois are having marriages difficulties and so Brian steps in. When he wins the New England Rising Writer's award he takes them Martha's Vineyard for a nice relaxing vacation. While they go on Vacation the kids are being looked after by Herbert.

As Usual Peter ruins the holiday with his drunken antics, Lois and Brian soon end up spending time together and start getting cosy up and until Brian confess his love for her, Bad Move. Peter and Brian end testing their friendship over Lois. A Decent episode not many comic moments; except for the phone call between Stewie and Brian.
  • With Peter and Lois's Marrige on the rocks latley Brian invites them along to Martha's Vinyard, he is to read part of his winning esay. Things get hot as Lois spends all her time with Brian because Peter is busy.

    8.8
    "Great"
I loved this episode it was heartwarming and funny. It made me wan't to see Martha's Vinyard for myself. I loved the musical number when Peter sings about the spirit of Mass. I thought Herbert being babysitting was funny considering Meg is 16 and is old enough to babysit her brothers herself. When Brian tryed to kiss Lois and she says thats a good sweater. That was funny. Because she was treating him like the dog he is. THe best was perhaps the Bar fight at the end with Peter and Brian. I loved the musical number at the end with Brian ,Lois and Peter singing with the tourists. This was a good episode for the most part.
  • Peter and Lois are having problems

Brian wins a trip to Marthas Vineyard (that's where they filmed Jaws apparently. I liked Jaws, but Jaws 2, Jaws 3 and Jaws 4 were rubbish) anyway, Brian takes peter and lois with him and they get herbert to look after the kids. (thats like getting an old michael jackson to look after them) anyway Brian and Lis get very close and Brian attacks Lois. I love when Lois told Peter this and them Peter went "Was he bigger than me?" that was true lolage! i found Nathan Lane marrying Peter a bit funny and i liked when chris finally asked Herbert if he was a pedophile
  • Enough of Brian for a while Seth please!!!

    8.0
    "Great"
this wasn't bad and this made up for the horrible James Woods return episode. But enough of Brian for a while Seth please!!! Brian should stay single for a while and he should know that Lois is physically in love with him. This was done before earlier and it should have ended like that. the idea of him humping on Lois was disturbing and he deserved to get beat by Peter. Peter was way out of character in this one. He laughed like a maniac to Lois and to the camera which was pointless. The song was stupid and in my opinion, he doesn't deserve Lois anymore. Brian should be a supporting player because he is becoming boring. But this was better the earlier episode. I want to see more Meg stories. (Atgthatsme, I don't care what you say, I want to see more Meg). They should give Brian a rest for a while because I don't want to see anymore of his love life.
  • Didn't I see this already?

    2.6
    "Terrible"
I swear we've seen Brian express his feelings about Lois before. many times before. All we needed in this episode was Stewie to confront his homosexuality and we'd have seen the last of the repeating jokes to really put the nail in the coffin for this season of family guy. It's ironic too. I thought this season started off stronger than last, with the Star Wars parody, only to end up going out the rectum, down the pipes and into piles of sewage. Some genious thought it would be hilarious to pick up that sewage, slap it on paper, and have the voice actors act out their characters. Crap episode. Please, something good next time.
  • Brian comes clean to Loise about being in love with her, Peter is not paying any attention to Loise...you know what is not even worth it, just skip this episode and go watch Blue Harvest again.

    5.0
    "Mediocre"
Why is it that every Brian centered episode seems to be determined to be awful? It really has become a Family Guy standard that whenever the episodes main character is brian the story is going to be dull and unoriginal. and beware of the brian singing ones, those are even worse. The series really needs to improve and stop putting out this filler crap, specially now that theres barely one episode out per month, they really need to improve to keep us stuck on the tv like family guy did in the past. well see next month or whenever they decide to release another episode.
  • It's amazing how they get people to think that episodes that have aleady been done are actually new and good. That is their opinon, but this show is becomng very recycled.

    1.0
    "Abysmal"
I agree with the others who said we get it Bryan doesn't do well with relationships, we also get it he is a Democrat. I know the writers personal opinions, whih make the jokes just seem like mindless propaganda. Maybe they should try to get Bryan in a successful relationship and do something with that, or just maybe that character doesn't have much else they can do with it? That may be the case if they are writing the same episode over and over again for Brian. I;m surprised the ratings aren't starting to drop, and they might be. I think the show has credibility from seasons of funny episodes that people are sticking around, kind of like with the Simpsons. I hope they can fix this show I hardly watch it anymore as it is, but if it gets any worse like this episode I won't watch at all.
  • How many times have we seen these episodes on Brian?

    3.0
    "Bad"
We get it the dog can't get in a relasionship it isn't funny anymore and it wasn't really funny in the first place. I'm sick of these episodes!!! Apart from the family guy classic flashbacks ("Remember the time when"), I did not laugh. If Brian is only going to provide these kind of storylines kill him off or move him down to a supporting role because I'd much rather see what the other family members are up too, well apart from Meg. No more Brian and more of the under used characters like Chris.

Looking forward to what seems to be this episode again next week..

3/10 only for the funny flashbacks
  • Family Guy Truly returns to form in this fun episode which finally decides to tell an interesting story.

    9.2
    "Superb"
YOu always know when a Family Guy episode will be good: Its when the First 5 minutes are not 4:30 of clips.

This show develops well Brians on going Crush with Lois, as well as giving us some good charecter development between Brian and Peter. On the lighter side we have the pedo geriatric in his funniest and most involved storyline yet. The 'Bath' joke is nothing short of Brilliant, and Chris comment during his bedtime story, is another moment we've been waiting for - Its finnaly been said!

I have to moan at the fight scene. It was animated well no doubt, but can we save all this for the chicken as no doubt thier will be a 15 minute fight scene with Pete and the Chicken before the end of this series.

The song they sing was bizarrly amusing, I have no idea if its original or not, and lame or not I was humming it for days.

This is easily one of the best episodes since the shows revival, and a true return to form.

Family guy is always better when thier more of a story than endless clips which a forienger like doesnt get half of.
  • A very well developed plotline exploring each path in this love triangle to an excellent extent, but mediocre comedy and good rather than great writing results in an underwhelming episode. You'll love it, but you'll want much more at the end.

    7.4
    "Good"
A very well developed plotline exploring each path in this love triangle to an excellent extent. Peter as a husband is put to question, Brian as a friend is put to question, and Lois and Brian as a couple is explored well.

The problem however is that the writing of this episode doesn't take it as far as it could. I'm sure there was a lot more Brian could say in this situations, this is one of the pinnacles situations his character would get involved in that we've had to wait for over the years.

In addition, while the comedy is very good as usual, this episode could have really deserved some golden writing, for one of the most unique characters in animation comedy.

All in all, the episode is underwhelming. An well-developed, yet disappointing main plot, and a poor subplot.

If you're a Family guy fan though, you will love it, but you'll want much much more at the end.
  • Brian storylines are always exactly the same but with different jokes.

In my Opinion Brian episodes are all the same there all about Brian and his love life.I mean how many more failed relationship can you give a dog .From Pearl [Brian wallows and peter swallows],Brooke [Brian the Bacholur] ,Shauna[Peters got Woods] ,Jillian [Whistle whilst your wife works -Moving out Brians song]not to mention the recurrign theme of his lvoe for Lois which has been explored three times in the show practially the same storyline but with differnet jokes[Brian in love ,Perfect castaway ,Play it agina Brian.]now it turns out he's going to have another failed relationship for the umpteenth time with a woemn named caroline [love blactually.]It jyust seems to me that Brian is a one way storyline theres not much else you can do with him except failed relationships unlike Peter and Stewies characters. To me this was another lazy episode on the creators behalf and it seems as though we'v seen this very same episode over and over agian which is what it fels like in a brian episdoe. If this is a recurring theme thorughout the rest of the show having Brian have failed realtionships and profess his love for lois ill think ill give them a miss. 5/10

this episode was good and silly

i havent seen an episode like this funny in a while

there is not that much brian episode anymore and i love brian episodes. its so funny!

the storyline and plot was realy funny, and peter was funny too. i liked it when he was drunk in the middle of the episode in the place where brian was going to get his awards. i think it was the funniest part of the episode

the second part i like best is when we finnaly get to see peter and brian fight for the first time in the series (i think) the fight was just like Peter fighting that Chicken thing in some episodes, the fighting scenes were cool and funny!

    good episode
  • Thank You God. Family Guy got good again.

    9.0
    "Superb"
Okay, the episodes we've been given have sucked, let's be honest.

This episode made my top ten list.

    People say:

"We already knew Brian loved Lois!"

That's not what the episode was about.

It was about Brian confessing his love to Lois.

Not the fact he did love her, but the fact he told her.

    The plot was fresh.

    The cutaways were good.

    The sub-plot was really funny!

    A great episode.

This was a Brian heavy episode, obviously.

    And, I love Brian episodes.

Family Guy episodes have been terrible lately.

    This made up for it.

I am really scared for the next episode.

I hope it will be as good as this.

    But, I'll probably jinx it.

    Good Job Family Guy!
  • This episode didn't make me laugh once, but I enjoyed it.

    9.8
    "Superb"
Love it or hate it, "Play It Again, Brian" is destined to be one of the major definitive episodes of Family Guy. Brian finally acts on his unresolved feelings for Lois, revealing himself once again as a character whose heart leads him to do really stupid things now and again; recall Brian's obsession with - and stalking of, Brooke the bachelorette back in season 5, for instance. Peter's gay side is ambiguously explored once again as he marries Nathan Lane for a practical joke, and best buddies Peter and Brian finally go at it in a bloody, glass shard filled, knock down drag out fistfight.

The current season of Family Guy is cool because it explores the darker side of life. It's like M*A*S*H was, before Alan Alda took over and smothered the show with his preachy style. Sure, it's not always laugh-out-loud funny, but the darker episodes are enjoyable because you can empathise with the characters. This episode's one problem was that all but one of the gags weren't funny. The Osmonds' teeth were hilarious thirty years ago, but we've seen that joke on about a billion other comedy shows since then. The Massachusetts songs were silly, although the BET wildlife TV show was a bullseye. Yo, and Family Guy writers, if you read this review, you've been making Peter into too much of a jerk lately. That weird laughing gag made Peter look like a dangerous lunatic, and it's pretty hard to laugh at a character you dislike too much.
  • This episode seemed to be very short, but it's well worth the wait.

    8.6
    "Great"
After waiting months for the newest installment of Family Guy, Play It Again, Brian comes in with much excitement. Who has ever seen Brian and Peter fight? This episode packs in the humor, excitement, violence, and any kind of offensive joke you would think Family Guy would put that we were waiting for.

Like I said again, this episode could have been longer. Time went by fast in this episode. I was expecting a little bit more. I guess they just ran out of time.

I recommend this episode for all Family Guy fans. Don't miss out! Watch a re-run! You're not too late to miss out on the conversations you could be having with your friends.
