When the local brewery has a contest offering tours of the plant, Peter and his friends go on a drinking binge trying to find the winning beer can. Through a stroke of dumb luck, Peter and Brian actually find one of the winning "scrolls". In a Willy Wonka homage, Peter and Brian start the tour, but are quickly kicked out after drinking the "Beer that wasn't supposed to be tasted." ''''Meanwhile, Lois's students have a big piano recital/competition coming up - and Lois is praying one of her students wins. She thinks she's got a lock on it when she signs a new student, Ling, a piano prodigy. However, in her enthusiasm, Lois works Ling too hard and she drops out! In an odd twist, Peter - in a drunken stupor over being booted from the contest - sits down at the piano and plays brilliantly! Lois is thrilled and keeps Peter drunk long enough to win the piano recital. This episode was execellent. The plot was interesting. Parts that I liked/laughed are pretty much from that tour, the gag when Peter hurt himself, Stewie beating up the boy playing the piano, Peter playing the piano when he's drunk, and a couple others. Overall a perfect episode. 10/10

Pawtucket Pat is opening up his factory for a tour, and everyone is trying to find the scroll in the bottle so they can get a tour. Peter wins one, and he takes Brian with him. The drink the beer that isn't ready yet, and get kicked out.

Lois discovers that Peter can play the paino when he's drunk, so she puts him in her competition, and he wins it.

This was a fantastic episode. There were so many great parts, like the whole factory scene, and Stewie beating up the kid, and Stewie during The Sad walking away song.

In this episode, Peter goes on a manhunt for a chance to enter the Pawtucket Brewery, and eventually finds his "golden ticket". Meanwhile, Lois trains kids for the upcoming piano compettion, but none of them are good enough to win first place. Then she discovers Peter can play piano really well, if he's drunk enough. This episode is a blast to watch, whether it's the Willy Wonka factory pardoy or whether it's Lois attempting to keep Peter buzzed long enough to win the piano compettion, there's not a dull moment or when your not laughing. This is easily my second favorite episode of season 2 (Road to Rhode Island is my all-time favorite episode) and I can heartedly reccomend this episode. 9.5/10
  • One of the greats!

This is another one of my favorite episodes! I throughly enjoy the concept of this, it is funny the whole way through!

I loved the idea of the 'silver scrolls' in the beer bottles and that everyone was looking for them, and as usual, Peter finds one.

I also loved the fact when Peter became drunk and became a god on the piano. That was just ridiculously funny!

However, the best scene, without doubt, was the 'Oompa Loompa' song, that kicked Joe out of the Pawtucket Brewery. That is one thing I will not be forgetting anytime soon!

I hope we have more great episodes like this one!

A remaker of Willy Wonka sends Peter and Brian into the brewery factory in this thrilling, entertaining and hilarious episode.

Peter was funny when he was playing the Piano but only on the deal that he would be drunk while playing. Extremely great when the Willy Wonka clone eliminated Peter and Brian for doing the illegal thing, this was obviously before reaching the golden goose room. Oh well, it was still funny. Oh, and who could forget: "Ssss.. Aah...Ssss...Aah...Ssss...Aah" That was awesome!

Stewie was an outsider this time but it was a crack up when he bashed up the poor kid because of the Piano distracting the TV while Stewie was watching something he enjoyed.

I won't forever go on, but the writers did a very great job in making this all about another Willy Wonka and Peter's drunken Piano lessons. I really enjoyed it, and it was a fantastic example of Family Guy on my part.

Oh, "Oh god (*Vomits)" Yelps Peter. "He found the scroll!" lol.

i did like this ep a little better than the one prior to it tonite..it was funnier and it is kind of amazing what you can do better drunk than you can do when you are sober..spoiler..peter was actually very good but im surprised no one noticed and they didnt get disqualified for him being drunk..oh well..she won even if she feels guilty about it..it really was cute how good he was and then he wasnt b/c he was sober and then he was awesome again..i like that they did a cartoon version of mary tyler moore..that was cute..the flashbacks still dont make sense to me but oh well..good ep

    This has got everything

    1) A perfect balance of story and clips

    2) A good story

    3) Halirious joke

    4) A brilliantly executed parody

    5) the Un-PC edgyness that makes Family guy so good

This episode really hit the spot for me, and is my most re-watched episode. The two quite seperate and nicley played out storylines of The beer factory and the Piano competition both having peter at his best, are my favorite storylines.

This episode is of course home to the long "awwwwwwww" scene when Peter hurts himself, and 4 of the funniest scenes ever

    1)Joe's Upa Lumpa Song

    2)Lois's smear test

3)Peter on stage playing the piano

4)Lois' and peters get away from the police at the teenagers party.

    The best episode ever.

Lois desperately searches for one piano student who can beat her rival Alexis's student at the piano competition.

Meanwhile, in a parody of Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory, Peter drinks even more Pawtucket Patroit beer than usual in an attempt to find a hidden silver scroll and win a tour of the brewery. Almost ready to give up, he drinks one more beer, which turns out to have the silver scroll. Peter and Brian go to the brewery tour. Pawtucket Pat (Michael McKean) is seemingly killed on his front walkway, but the killer turns out to be Cheech Marin, hired to pull off a gag. Joe is kicked out before the tour begins, since the brewery is not compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 and does not have wheelchair ramps. During the tour Peter and Brian split off from the group to try beer that never goes flat, in spite of Pat's warning that they haven't worked out all the kinks. When Pat finds Peter and Brian in the forbidden room, he ejects them from the brewery.

Angry at Pawtucket Pat, Peter tries to get Lois's attention by playing the piano, showing that he can play piano perfectly when drunk. Lois decides to enter Peter as her student in the piano competition, and keeps him in a state of constant inebriation. Peter's piano repertoire is movie and TV show theme songs, including Dallas, Nine to Five, The Incredible Hulk, The X-Files and The Mary Tyler Moore Show.

At the competition, Peter can't even find the piano. Lois has to turn him around and move him in a couple of inches. Peter and Lois win first place, but Lois frets that she may have harmed his health for her own selfish need to win. Peter defensively tells her all of his brain cells are intact. But deep inside his brain, there is only one left, who (in a parody of The Twilight Zone episode "Time Enough at Last") has just broken his glasses.

Brilliant willy woker parody south park couldn't have done it better themslefs plus we get half an epsidoe of Peter been drunk YAY.The Mary Tyler Moore Show was hilarios
  • This episode is the golden ticket of season 2.

Peter drinks an insane amount of beer in an attempt to win a tour of the Pawtucket Brewery. Lois subsequently discovers that as long as Peter is wasted, he can play the piano like a professional. This gives her an idea to enter him in the town piano contest to show up a rival piano teacher. Will Peter's brain survive long enough to savour victory?

From the second season; this episode is the finest. It's writing is good, the humour is frequent and rarely lame and it just establishes all the characteristics that made this show a sensation.

The best part of the episode are the cultural references which are markedly more subtle and wittier in this episode rather than the blatant jabs at everything in the seasons to follow.

The Willy Wonka plot is basically a Family Guy Mad Lib of the 1971 movie and contains no real originality which makes Lois's piano storyline the most interesting. When watching Peter drink beer after beer; it gets a little uncomfortable to watch as you think of all the potential damage in real life but it's all resolved in a hilarious conclusion. The episode's visuals are consistent with the rest of the early seasons; that is to say it's hideously sketchy and stiff animation but at least it doesn't come as a shock.

This is basically Seth Macfarlane's episode as Peter gets the most dialogue and all he's required to do is slur for most of the episode; Brian (Also Macfarlane) and Lois (Alex Borstein) provide solid supporting vocals. Wasted Talent is the complete opposite of it's title; there's talent and it's used in the best way possible; a must - see for all Family Guy fans.

This is definately one of the best family guy episodes ever made. Its all about peter finding a ticket to the pawtucker brewery which very simular to the original charlie and the choclate factory film. At the same time lois is looking for a student who is good enough to beat her rival Alexis. After breaking rules at the brewery Pawtucket Pat throws them out which leaves peter to drink some more, and he has a go at playing the piano and he turns out to be as good as an professional. Seriously good episode which just demonstrates how good the show is.

Another great installment, Family Guy proves once again how great is, Chumba Woomba gobledy Goo, Peter and Brian search for a golden scroll in one of Pawtucket Pat's beer bottles then go on a tour of the pawtucket beer factory. This is a kickass Willy Wonka and the chocolate factory parody. If you search for a hilariously funny FG episode then look no further. I haven't seen a great episode like this since Brian: Portrait of a dog. A series classic.

And hey if you're interested I've reveiwed the futurama Willy Wonka parody two!! so you can read that one!! Another one down!!
  • This is one of those episodes which you appreciate more the second time around.

I got to admit, I haven\'t always been very complimentary of this episode. Maybe because for five years, Charlie and The Chocloate Factory was my favourite book, and I didn\'t think it was a very good parody. More likely because the first time I saw this episode it was a wet night and that meant crap satellite reception. Whatever, I didn\'t rate it very highly and only bothered to watch it after my friends who were watching with me wanted to see this ep on DVD.

After I finished watching, I sat down to eat a large helping of crow.

The jokes, flashbacks and parodies on this episode are the kind that have to be watched a few times to be fully appreciated IMO, but whatever it was, I felt it was very funny, even if still not quite as good as many other episodes. Maybe another viewing will change my mind.
  • Bring it on Family Guy!

    9.7
    "Superb"
In this brilliant episode, Brian and his friends go on a binge drinking contest and in the mean time Lois tries to find the right student who she teaches piano to enter in a big piano contest. Brian comes home drunk from a tour he won of a parady of Charlie and the chocolate factory but with beer and plays the piano. Lois is so impressed that she makes her own lazy husband her student and anyway, at the contest Peter wins! I loved this episode because of the great send of up of the chocolate factory and the whole theme.
  • Peter discovers a talent for playing the piano well when drunk.

    9.5
    "Superb"
I loved this episode not even for Peter's hidden ability but the parody Family Guy did on the old Willy Wonka movie with Pawtucket Pat. Also with the chumba wumbas and their very hilarious songs did I find myself laughing uncontrobally. I think over all this episode will be known more for this parody then Peter's special ability to play the piano like a master when wasted out of his mind. Although the only remaining brain cell joke was very good, making fun of a classic Twilight Zone episode.

Awesome parody of Willy Wonka. And as usual, here are the song lyrics. Poor Joe.

    Chumbawumba Song

Chumba wumba gobbledy goo Life isn't fair

Its sad but its true Chumba wumba gobbledy gee When your poor legs are stiff as a tree What do you do when your stuck in a chair? Finding it hard to go up and down stairs What do you think of the one you call God? Isn't his absence slightly odd? Maybe he's forgotten you Chumba wumba gobbledy gorse Count yourself lucky your not a horse They would turn you into dog food Or into chumba wumba gobbledy glue
  • what a cool episode!

    "Perfect"
This episode is really cool because it is a complete parody of Charlie and the chocolate factory and I think that this episode is really cool especially with the thing of the choomba wombaa which is really cool the way they sing and everything, and when Peter returns home he discovers that he is a master of piano player when he is drunk, so Lois begins to getting him drunk every time to practice more and more in the piano and finally win the tournament.
  • Sweet episode.

    9.3
    "Superb"
This is one of my favorite episodes. It is so funny. It is all about Willy Wonka, except beer instead of candy.

Patriot Ale has a contest. There is five scrolls in five random beer cans (making fun of Will Wonka). Peter gets one and goes to take a tour of the plant. He gets really drunk. When he gets back he can play the piano really good. Lois wants to win a piano compitition so she gets Peter to compete. She gets Peter really drunk. Peter wins the compitition. Then Lois relizes that she is destroying all of Peter's brain cells so she stops giving him beer.

    I give this episode a 9.3 out of 10.
  • It's like I've died and gone to heaven! But then they realised it wasn't my time so they sent me back to a brewery!

Wasted Talent is by far the best episode of season 2 and possibly my favourite of all tme though there are a few conflicting episodes.

Brian and Peter drinking Pawtucket Patriots was hilarious with great lines including after being told that he's drunk, Peter replying "No, I'm just exhausted because I've been up all night drinking".

Tom Tucker lying because he wanted to get the edge was hilarious and the episode kept getting better with the memorable brewery tour and Peter being able to play perfectly when he's drunk.

From start to finish, Family Guy fans are guaranteed to love this episode.
  • Peter wins a contest- whitch lets him go to the Brewery. After he performs a piano competition.

A perfectly great episode! I love it so much. Many will enjoy this episode. It makes fun of a good movie. Family Guy is perfectly good animated series. This is an episode where many will laugh their butts off. good episode. none will hate it. i give it a 10/10
  • By far my most favorite episode!

    10
    "Perfect"
This episode is by far the best episode of The Family Guy I have seen! They did a parody of Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. It was great! They had a lot more singing in this episode than in the others, but I have to say even the songs cracked me up! The end is also great it makes you feel like it\'s almost two different episodes in one. Peter is able to play the piano only when he\'s drunk. It is outrageously funny! 12/10
  • Peter begins a quest to find a scroll in a beer so he may see the Pawtucket Brewery. He gets one, but because he broke the rules, he gets kicked out. -Lois jacks Peter up on beer so they can win the piano competition against Lois' rival, Alexis.
    9.0
    "Superb"
I loved the episode. The thing that makes it most memorable is the scene with Peter going, "Ahh, sss, Ahh, sss, Ahh, sss, Ahh, sss, Ahh, sss, Ahh, sss, Ahh, sss" after tripping. That was hilarious.

The whole thing with Pawtucket Patriot and the Chumba Wumbas spoofing "Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory" was funny, as well. Three other good points were:

    1. The appearance of Death getting drunk and trying to drive, but he crashes into a police car.

    2. Captain Crunch asking some guy to kill Count Chocula.

    3. Peter burping at that audience during the piano competition.

So, the two plots were excellent, with Peter winning a trip to the Pawtucket Brewery after finding 1 0f 4 scrolls, and Peter getting jacked up with beer by Lois because he can only play the piano when he's drunk, so they can win the piano competition. Most of the jokes were funny. The only flashback I didn't like was Peter being on Password. Unfunny. The only joke I didn't like was that thing with making Joe leave because the brewery wasn't wheelchair accessible, but maybe that's because Joe is one of my favorite characters.

Still, it proves that Lois does anything to win here.

So, 90% of the episode was great, so 9 outta 10.

This episode had top-notch writing and it was full of great, humorous lines. The episode is a spoof of Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory except it's a brewry instead of a candy factory. Lois discovers that Peter is a great pianist when he's drunk. A great episode and a great parady of Willy Wonka. One of the series best.

  • Peter wins a chance to tour Pawtucket Pat's factory and discovers a hidden talent he posesses.

    8.2
    "Great"
Not as hilarious as the first half but better in the factory to the end.

Peter becomes one of the lucky five to win a chance to tour the factory of his favorite beer, Pawtucket Pat. He's soon kicked out due to his lack of stupidity and drinks to heal his depression. Lois is also feeling depressed because she can't find a good piano player to win first place at an upcoming competition. Then Peter amazes her by playing the piano like Mozart but there's a catch. He can only play the piano when he's drunk.

This episode is pretty much average. But it gets funny when the factory tour happens and contiues to the end. Still not one of the best.

    9.9
    "Superb"
Truly hilarious episode with so much attention to detail from the origianl Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory; like the exact music after Peter vomits scroll as when Charlie Bucket finds his ticket and telling Peter to run all the way home after he finds the scroll. The song about Complete Inebriation will become a classic for fraternaties for years to come. One of my favorite parts is the repeat of Peter hurting his shin (Shhhhhhhhhhhhhh, ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, shhhhhhhhhhh, ahhhhhhhhhh,.... Look carefully and you'll see Charl;ie and Grandpa Joe when everyone enters the brewing room.
  • The epitome of a Family Guy episode.

Fantastic parodies. Also Contains two contrasting plots that link up in the center. Tour of the factory & Peter's uncanny abilities to play themes among other things make this episode the deepest in plot. Jokes are not overdone, allusions are great, and in the end the most memorable Family guy episode of the season.
