  • Great episode.

    8.5
I found that this episode was really good. In fact, I thought that it was a great example of why this show was so special during the first few years. Steve had some medical problems and ended up fainting in the living room of the Winslow house. He wound up in the hospital and was soon joined by Carl, who was shot in the rear by a gun. The writing was good, the acting was decent, and the storylines were also good. I liked the comedy and the funny bits here and there. Overall, this was a very good episode and was very entertaining. Thank you.moreless

    • (Jenkins holds Carl at gunpoint in the hospital)
Jenkins: Say your prayers, Winslow. You're history.
Carl: Wait a minute. Wait a minute. At least tell me who you are and why you're doin' this.
Jenkins: You busted my brother Ralphie.
Carl: Ralphie. Ralphie. Would that be Ralphie the pimp, Ralphie the loan shark, or Ralphie the snitch?
Jenkins: The guy who shot you in the butt.
Carl: Oh, yes! Ralphie the robber. Nice guy. Good shot. Great gun.
Jenkins: So you're the only witness. I kill you, and Ralphie walks.
Carl: Well, now, Jenkins, listen. You're not thinking clearly. You know, you must have one heck of a headache.
      Jenkins: No, I don't.
(Steve bonks him in the head with a bedpan; Jenkins collapses onto Carl's bed)
Carl: Well, you do now! Good work, Steve!

    • Steve: Now, let's see. What should I play?
Carl: Please don't do this to me.
Steve: I don't know that one.

    • Steve: So, Carl, tell me what happened. Did you sit on your gun again?

    • Steve: (sings as he plays his accordion) Shine on, shine on harvest moon... Up in the sky.
I ain't had no lovin' since January...
      Carl: Steve?
      Steve: February...
      Carl: Steve?!
      Steve: June and Ju--
      Carl: STEVE!!!
      (Steve stops)
      Steve: Yes?
      Carl: No more Moon songs!

    • Carl: Alright, that is it, Steve. I've had it with you, now you go back to your bed and shut up!
      Steve: What?!
Carl: You heard me! I have got to get some sleep! So that means no more helping me with my bed, no more pickled body parts... AND NO MORE MUSICAL TRIBUTES TO MY BUTT!!!

  • NOTES (3)

    • The German episode title is "Zwei Männer im Bett", meaning "Two Men in Bed".

    • This is J. Lamont Pope's second time appearing on the show. He first appeared in the episode where a gang beat up Eddie and destroyed Rachel's Place. In this episode he played a hospital orderly, and in the episode "An Officer And A Waldo" he played an army recruit. It wasn't until the seventh season that he would play Curtis Williams, Laura's boyfriend.

    • Rosetta LeNoire (Mother Winslow) doesn't appear in this episode. She's credited, however.
