Being the final show before Steve Urkel's debut and often overlooked, I think 'The Quilt' had a lot of heart in it. To start, Laura and Judy are having a yard sale and they are coming up short with finding something one might buy. A leaving Estelle Winslow give them a bunk of her own items but specifically tells Laura not to sale a historic famed quilt. Laura ignores this by letting a woman purchase it for two-hundred dollars. Finding this out, Mother Winslow angrily tells Laura that quilt is the only trace of her ancestor roots. Estelle then becomes very disappointed with Laura, and Laura feeling guilty goes to try to get it back by going to the woman's boutique. The lady ultimately refuses to give her money back so Laura, with her father Carl, weepingly explain the mistake and eventually gets it back. Overall, I think this would have been a new start point for ''Family Matters'' if not for Steve Urkel because it had a great moral lesson that you should do what you're told to do or else you will face the consequences that will haunt you for the rest of your life. Nicely made and could have been the start of something big, though, probably wouldn't have a lasted as long.moreless

    • Laura: (explaining how they got $350 total from the sale) Well what really pushed it over the top was that old quilt of grandma's. Someone paid me three hundred dollars for it!
      Estelle: What?!
      Carl: Laura! You sold it?
Laura: Well yeah, it's just an old quilt, with the money we can buy you a new one. Like you said, out with the old, in with the new!
Estelle: Laura! That quilt has been in our family for over two-hundred years! It is the only record of our family, each patch sewn on by the next generation. (in tears) It's priceless! Excuse me... (Estelle gets up and leaves the room)

    • Mrs. Nash: (admiring Laura's quilt) I'll give you two hundred dollars for it.
      Laura: (hyperventilating) TWO HUN--T--TWO HUNDRED!!
      Mrs. Nash: Are you alright?
Laura: (Quickly regaining composure) I'm fine, it's just asthma.

    • Carl: You can't sell those pants, I wore those to Woodstock.
Laura: Dad, you were at Woodstock?
      Carl: Well...it was the movie.

    • Judy: I'm wet, I'm cold, and I'm cranky; don't mess with me!
