Alex Keaton turns 18 in this episode, but Michael J. Fox is actually 22.
Alex: (going along with the story that he's an Air Force pilot) It's not my first mission. It-it's my first solo mission! Doug: Yeah, and I'm going with him. Christie: What country are you attacking? Alex: Oh – uh – Canada. Christie: We're not at war with Canada. (looks at Buffy) Wait, are we?
Doug: Uh, Alex. Alex: That's "Colonel Keaton." Doug: Uh, sorry sir. Colonel Keaton, I mean. Alex: What is it? Doug: Your mother's here.
Elyse: (confronting Alex in the nightclub) I want you to come home with me. Christie: (stands up, unaware that she's addressing Alex's mother) Excuse me. But the Colonel happens to be my date!
Alex: (to Elyse) I think of you as my mother, not as a real person!
Elyse: Alex, I asked you this morning to take the garbage out, before you went to school. Alex: Yeah. Listen, mom. I've been taking out the garbage for many years now, and, uh, I think I've gotten all I can out of the experience.
