      • The producers must have had some good rating data about Alex's line, "My work there is done." in Death of a Grocer. In this episode, after getting Mallory and Jeff to talk, Alex leaves saying, "My work here is done."

      • In a chess game between Alex and Steven, Alex plays the Nimzovich Defense, a strategy intended to tempt White to overplay the center. The opening move for Black is the Queen's Knight. When Steven says that the Defense can be countered with the King's Gambit Declined, he means that by refusing to capture the Pawn that Black offers, White can better maintain control of the center - all important during the opening moves.
